Had a little crash on my racing bike last week, somehow the front fork got bent inwards quite alot, is there anything to be done?

Its a vintage bike so a replacement frame is not really an option im fearing.

Check if the frame is bent too. If it’s not, replace the fork. Threaded 1″ forks are still available both new and used.

    2. That would need a new fork unfortunately. I think you could find something that would work with a little bit of searching though

Fork is toast, buddy. I’m sure there are plenty of replacement forks that will fit or maybe upgrade to a sleek carbon fork with thinner fork blades to maintain the classic look

    4. Alot of the time with these kind of accidents one of the frame, fork or front wheel will fail and the other 2 are ok.

So inspect the wheel and frame and if they’re OK all.you need to do is change the fork.

    5. Nope, I had it happen once on an old bike it went from a “Hmm, that looks different doesnt it? is it bent? Hmm I really don’t know”….. To a simple drop off a standard roadside curb turning into a very awkward but fortunately slow motion over the bars moment followed by a long walk home.

Could of been much worse, but I learnt a lesson that forks are really strong bits of kit but once they are pushed out of that factory spec, they are going to fold.

    6. The fork will definitely need replacing, straightening it will severely weaken the material.

It’s also worth checking for any ovalisation of the head tube of the frame.

    7. I did the same as a teen. Can’t remember how but ended up with my front fork bent back just like yours.

The solution I came up with was to turn the bars backwards and ghost ride it into a wall.

      It worked too.

Fork is done, check frame. looks like a bulge under shifter from impact. Very common to fail where shifter posts go through frame. A little bump is not terrible, if paint is cracked in that area you should probably start looking for a different bike
