Hi to everyone, i wanted to share some thoughts about bikepacking because I couldn’t resist. In this subreddit, it’s lovely to see everyone sharing their rigs and adventures, its crazy to think that there are so many crazy ppl out there having awesome adventures. Because for me every trip is special and I remember them with lot of love and joy.

I must admit, bikepacking is the best thing that ever happened to me, it changed my life and is the thing I enjoy doing the most by far. It’s hard to describe but for me it’s the closest thing to total freedom, I love riding all day, pushing myself and enjoying the views, smoking my weed whenever I want and discovering places. I started when I was 19, and that first bikepacking is the one I think about the most, it changed everything, now I’m 22 and I cant not wait to make my first long trip, my longest it’s been 5 days, but I haven’t got the time and money yet to do a longer one.

but back to what it means bikepacking, I always tell to my friends that it’s like being a cowboy, I think that’s the best way to describe it for me, its pure magic.

I’d like to hear why yall like it so much and what it means for yall, I’m sure I can relate to some of yall, if u are traveling while reading this stay safe and enjoy.

I add some of the different rigs I’ve used over time, but my Hardtail 27er its been my favorite so far, I love to hit the trail with all the bags, I feel like some of those land rovers in the camel trophies back in the days I love it

      thanks for reading me

    2. Its the same for me. Came back in August from three weeks on the road and just dreaming about the next journey….

    3. I’m 44 and the magic is still working 🙂

5 days is nice, that’s what I did this summer. It’s already a world i. itself, but yes, I would have done longer if I could!

I also love this feeling (a little bit of fear/stress included) just before and at the very first moment of the departure: « ok, now, I’m going far away, and I’ll only live with the things I’m moving with me. »

And during the ride, this irrepressible feeling of total freedom, like you nailed it.

Funnily, the gear for a 5 days trip is not that different than the gear for a several months trip!
