Hi all, not finding a great sub for hunting-specific bikepacking so I think this is the right community.

Looking for the best way to combine deer hunting (love the aspect of ethically harvesting free-range game, it’s the only way I’ll eat meat) with bikepacking from a logistical perspective and thinking about how I could configure my rifle mount. Anyone have any experience with any of these mount configurations? Some of these admittedly look a bit redneck, but I’m looking to minimize the redneck aesthetic.

Beyond that, curious what others due for meat transport after harvesting, ammo storage, etc.

I’m not a hunter, neither a weapons expert, but I know that you should treat every weapon as if it was loaded. Therefore the first option would be a big no for me.

For transporting meat: don’t you need to cool that immediately after harvesting? Other than that, depending on the amount of meat you need to transport, I would probably go for a one wheeled hanger. They can carry quite a lot of weight and at the same time they seem to ride better on rough terrain that two-wheeler ones. https://burley.com/de-de/products/coho-xc

      Hope that helps.
