In this video, I explain how it was possible for me to retire at the age of 51 years old, and be able to financially support my family without anybody having to work.
And….we carry on with our French Farmhouse renovation

I’m worrying about your French windows
keep him right shaun 😉😎
Glad you're getting a chopping log, could have been awkward walking around with a crutch and holding the camera, and getting the crutch stuck down in a muddy field
A string with daylight lamp solves the problem…for not having windows i think 😀
Don't mention the PPS!!😉😂. Nevermind, the pension will be supporting my retirement there too (and the wife with her NHS pension, also Lisa). Love your daily vlogs, gives us a daily insight into what to expect. I'm day 700 of duolingo, it's a really helpful app to supplement my O'level French!. Can't wait until September when we come out and start exploring the area.
You are such a great husband, because Lisa wanted a change, and you just took it in stride like you are supposed to do. I don't know if you have this saying or not, but "If Mamma isn't happy, nobody is happy." Applicable to wives as well.
Great advice on the retirement as well. I unfortunately had to make a quick decision on my army retirement when I got out, and since I didn't have anything I could readily move it into, we used to for home upgrades and a 3 month vacation to Australia to see my wife's family. Since I was only 36 when I retired, I still needed to let it build to be able to live comfortably. Sadly I had to start all over when I went back into the workforce as a civilian. So I now have an uphill battle to be comfortable when I do retire.
Anyway, great video as always. Laterz!
I am not retirement age just yet, but I am self employed so what pensions I do get will be taxable . So that is shite lol. Nice how the rooms going to look like when finished . I do Duolingo not done it in a while as my husband died not long ago, So not felt like it. Nice bit of facts given as the norm. Laterzz
Sorry to hear about your son's injury. Yes, those little claws can be sharp. Your French is really coming along. And, you weren't wrong, you are completely pleasant. 🙂 You sound just fine. Great advice about retirement planning. Handy to know the associated tax laws as well. Laterzzzz.
The pension scheme for police officers is fantastic and rightly-so. The shifts, the stress, the danger, the aggro, the trauma etc – 30 years of that is more than enough, retired officers more than earn their relatively early retirement. But how I wish other local government pensions paid out in full after 30 years. Rather than having to wait til I'm 67, I could've retired years ago! I guess I'll just have to keep doing the lottery! 😂
Hi Rob don’t get me started. My Husband is part Scottish, part Welsh and mostly Australian. He gives everyone a nickname, has slangs for every word, mumbles and never finishes a sentence, jokes and winds me and everyone else up constantly, but he is a Larrikin and we all love him 😁 Good for you listening to your Dad about the pension and giving advice to young ones 👍
Re the beginning of the video: A chicken's only goal is to get on the other side of the fence.
In the new rooms would a roof light be an option in the future, either a velux type standard roof window or the light tube system, just a though. Keep the good work up. cess yers later.
Hi Rob, love watching your channel. The episode on PTSD was brilliant, well done you for speaking about it. You definitely helped a lot of folk 💚.
Just a suggestion for your bathroom door … look into frosting the glass.
Also, for the chickens … check out The Newbys and their episode on the hen house.
What a lovely peaceful life you have there 💖

Ik woon in Nederland 🇳🇱 we werken hier tot 68 jaar
Hoe kan jij al met pensioen??
There is something enjoyable about your channel, I don't know what it is yet, but I watch to the end and end up with a smile. ( retired French sheep farmers of a certain age ) 🙂
Hi rob…great video today…its amazing how many people don't realise that although police do get good pensions, we had to contribute 11% to get there. Love your interactions with Unique can't you adopt him and get him a coat. Reading your replies to comments really makes us laugh and where you got that reply in Dutch from is amazing, lovely comment from the retired french sheep farmer….and your comment about your chickens really cracked us up. Keep them coming Rob they really brighten our days
Where did you hear this rubbish of the Kilt originating in France? Do you know the origin of shooting someone the middle finger (flipping the bird)? It has to do with the French . All in good fun
Hi Rob. Excellent info on pensions. I used to run an orthopedic practice (stressful job!)and when I would hire a young new employee I would try to get them to put highest % in right away and they wouldn’t miss the money but it would build a great nest egg. Some did it. Most couldn’t think they’d ever get old😅. Best thing we ever did. I retired at 62, was thrilled at first but after a year or so I took a part time job where I wasn’t in charge of Anything! loved it. Stopped working again due to health after another 3 yrs. Now I love having no schedule, no boss. Husband retired too. ❤❤❤
08:00 ha ha for the arse shot!! pmsl! Not sure why but I have been looking forward to the bathroom upgrade the most!
Thanks for the video!
Sometimes hard to understand the accent, but we know you're not the Queen(where we here in America understand each and every word like she was punishing us for bad behavior)
Can you show more roadway scenes? 🎉😮
Your French is coming on a treat.
