“Why stop at Oxford Street? Why not make the whole of the West End car-free?” London Cycling Campaign CEO Tom Fyans celebrates today’s announcement that Oxford Street is going to be pedestrianised and urges the Mayor to be even bolder.
We challenged the Mayor to think big and deal with the traffic mess that is the West End right now. Today’s announcement is great news. We’ll also be pushing for safe, very high quality parallel routes so that people wanting to cycle east-west without stopping can do so safely and easily.
