If you haven’t seen my chat with Mark Cavendish’s Coach last week, this is definitely worth some time on your next indoor session https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqwGkPlTzoQ&list=PLHHgxJHZ5BrqLeaN3o03P_XZbUTtDgeJO&index=18
Today, we’ve got a special guest—Dan Bigham. Dan is a true trailblazer in the world of cycling. He’s a former holder of the world hour record, a silver medalist from the recent Paris Olympics in the Team Pursuit, and was the chief aerodynamics engineer at Team Ineos. Now, he’s making waves after moving to Bora Red Bull, where he’s leading their aerodynamics efforts.
In today’s conversation, we dive into Dan’s incredible journey—his hour record, his experience at the Olympics, and his recent move to Bora. But most importantly, we get into something every cyclist can relate to: aerodynamics. Whether you’re racing or just trying to shave off a few minutes on your weekend ride, Dan shares some actionable insights on how everyday riders can make serious aerodynamic gains.

Can't wait to watch!
Gold, this will be getting watched over and over
It's Dan BIGHAM.
Love the show but the 'stache has to go. Unless your name is Tom Selleck, no one looks good with a mustache.
Excellent episode 👍🏻 great work
Is this episode gonna be avalaible on Spotify?
A 35 kg woman and a 110 kg man both have the same minimum legal weight bike. That's silly. UCI Minimum bike weights should scale with rider height.
Yess! Dan inspired how much I ride on the hoods on the track.
I'm confused. Why would on-board cooling become a necessity in 10-20 years?
36:20 Wow I've always wondered why there's nearly no product innovation on rider safety on jerseys. I'd spend an extra 50$ to get a suit that I won't have to worry about road rash on, rather than spending 50$ on tegaderm and weeks worth of pain trying to lie down.
Seriously I want to know all the gossip about leaving Ineos !
What goes on off mike stays off mike.
Not sure about that moustache 😂
Fantastic episode so interesting and Dan talks so much sense! Aero marketing, to me, is a classic example of plugging into 'perceived perceptions of what is fast', and using numbers and data to reinforce the perceptions with likely only a random chance that a perfect match to an individual. In my time in medical research I have seen exactly the same. In summary complex systems require specific tests on the individual to really make those marginal gains.
best of the best again @Roadman. Dan's a legend
I used to poo poo aero , but in recent years i've realised it all adds up , i now look at it as cheating but in a good fun way , i'm home and fed & showered when i'd otherwise still be out there when i poo poo'd aero.
Love it, Dan's great! Always interesting!
Great episode! Mr. Bigham is highly interesting in combining his F1 motorsport aero profession with his cycling pursuits. As well being married to Joss as they both had success at hour record on the track. Very clever. Bravo.
Q-factor… I don't know why more people in cycling talk about hip biomechanic efficiencies and limitations. I seems like such an obvious area that affects performance. Thanks for another awesome podcast
Keep the moustache. Much better.
Great chat, but is it so difficult to pronounce his name correctly? There is no 'n' in Bigham…
We know where the real inspiration for the moustache came from 😉
Mentioned cooling technology briefly, how useful does the Ultra Cool Tech Glacier Tape look?
A few years ago the kit supplier for Team Giant Alpecin included Dyneema in their bib shorts which helped to reduce road rash.
Anyone who thinks that they have mastered aerodynamics is delusional or a salesman.
Thank you for for crediting Dan's talent. To put out that power so efficiently in the position is incredible and not only that, but to have the brain to mastermind the event brings a dimension to the sport that we've not seen since Obree. Remember the pros wouldn't credit his ability either. Just not right.
