    1. It’s probably just loose. But there’s no way to tell without trying to tighten the BB or inspecting the threads.

    2. Before you ride the bike again, pull the BB and clean and grease the shell, then torque the BB back in properly and reinstall the cranks. The threads are likely still viable for now, but on aluminum shells you don’t want to play games with this.

      It might be a cracked bottom bracket cup. In that case it should certainly be replaced. It could be difficult to remove it if the splines for the tool are damaged.
