I want to get into longer-distance biking. I bike commute all the time on a beat up old bike, but I want to join some bike groups in the neighborhood. I’m thinking of buying a (seemingly gently) used Trek Madone 4.5 (pictured) (seller doesn’t know the year, likely 2013). It has a carbon frame and a mix of ultegra and 105 parts. The seller wants $899. My other option is a new basic 2023 Giant Contend for about the same price. The Contend would come with a warranty.
I have ridden both and don’t feel much of a difference! What are your thoughts? Should I try to negotiate the price?

900 seems high, my vote would be $700 or keep looking also typically when you get close to the thousand dollar mark you get something with hydro disc
