    1. Bada bing! Yes, single speed material. I’m doing a Fuji Sagres conversion right now, but have been keeping my eye open for a Schwinn World Sport or Super LeTour or better, for the CroMo frames, and, I think, decent tire clearance when switched to 700c. What’s your frame material, there?

    2. Like most of us here, I have owned far too many bikes. Unlike most of us, I’ve whittled the collection down to just 2 – my Steamroller, and a 1974 Le Tour I also saved from a scrap heap.

      That’s right, a ratty old Schwinn edged out my Cannondale and my talismanic Hard Rock. Enjoy your Le Tour and rejoice in the fact it’s a Panasonic in Schwinn clothing 🤙🏼

      I love the Le Tour. I’ve never owned one, but when I find the right one, I will pull the trigger. I’ve never admitted this before, but I like stem-mounted shifters and safety-levers on the brakes. And I was a hardcore road/track racer in the 80s. But I like these sort of entry-level road bikes, my gateway drug. My first drop-bar bike was a Univega I bought for $10. I went thru a couple Varsitys and then a Peugeot, a Gitane track bike and the a full Campy NR Motobecane. But It never would have happened without the low-end Univega and the Schwinn Varsity. Now the Le Tour has to be a few pounds lighter than a Varsity. Oh, and high-flange hubs! I love the crankset on your bike!
