    2. I bought a Diverge Elite last year as an intro bike for gravel, and over time realized I wanted to upgrade to something a little faster. I found a solid deal on a Crux frameset and slowly built up the components as I found deals. Going from 2x to 1x has been a nice change for the trails I tend to ride. The GX Eagle RD with 10-51 range gives me great top-end speed, while keeping a nice dinner plate to spin up the steep stuff. I had Pathfinders in 38 and 42 on the Diverge, but went up to 47s on the Crux. I’m not missing much top end speed on the flats, but they are a little sluggish for paved hills. For loose trail hills, they climb much better. They also corner much more securely, and the added volume is like having suspension. Overall, it’s been a fantastic upgrade, and I’m glad I took my time over six months to think about what I really wanted this bike to be.
