Used (2018) Specialized Rockhopper or new Able RBL Sport?

Mendham Bikes has the Able RBL Sport for $299 right now. It's not a brand I've heard of before, but the parts look great:

For the same price, someone on Facebook is selling a good condition 2018 Specialized Hardrock. Which seems like a better buy for someone who wants to try getting into MTB (but will 75% of the time use it for riding around town with the kids)?

The Able I'd need to assemble, but I'm very mechanically inclined so that's fine. The Specialized was supposedly only used a few times for riding to the beach and back.
