After much searching I finally found this beauty in my size (short af). Going to need new tires and I’ll definitely want a basket but I’m new to this. Any and all suggestions appreciated!
Adjust for comfort. Adjust the drivetrain, brakes and
visually inspect for anything that needs attention, lube, ride and have fun.

Whoah that’s a Rockhopper 24 inch model. There’s all kinds of cool BMX tires that’ll fit on that.

Petition to ban all posts asking “what now?” “What should I do with it?” “What upgrades would you suggest?” etc. None of us know who you are, where or why or how far you ride, what matters to you in a bike, or anything else to tell us the answers to these questions.
Just ride it and if something feels off change that thing. That’s the answer.

Cables, pads, grease all bearings. Maybe a chain.

How are you liking the Deerhead. I want to get a pair of shifters. How do they feel/perform? It’s one of my favorite groupsets and you have a beautiful bike to match it. Cheers!
That is MINT! I would pop that aluminum disc off the back wheel for sure. Those old foam seats can be pretty crappy too so throw a cleaner looking saddle on if it’s currently uncomfortable . New rubber ( tires and grips).

Okay. You’re new. Best plan is ride it now with the new tires you plan to get. See how it feels. Check this site out daily to see what others have done. Then, if you have mechnical aptitude decide if something others have done are right for you. For instance, Bars are easy. Saddles are easy. 1X takes some work and video watching. Started into this as a newbie to the modern bike (cruiser rider when young) 21 years ago. No site like this then. Had a good mechanical and tool collection start as I drag raced a Mustang I did all the work on. Now have 18 modified rebuilt bikes and have given away 8 more. So this can be the start of a great hobby.

Comments like this make me kinda sad there is no magic formula or thing you have to do to fit in. I suggest riding it and then it will speak to you. If you listen to your body like saddle height, maybe different saddle, handlebars higher/ lower, alt bars for more positions, etc. then you’ll know what needs attention. You’ll also discover the riding you do and what you need storage wise like basket or rack or maybe just a nice backpack. That will also tell you the tires you want because if you find yourself only riding pavement then obviously get some slicker fast boys than chunky chunks. Dope bike enjoy the journey!

If it’s comfortable lower bars and raise the seat. If it’s uncomfortable brooks saddle, fenders and cruiser bars.
