I keep having to haul modest loads on my nitto m18 and am struggling to find a good method to tie things down. Bungee cords aren’t taut enough, and the cargo straps I have are too short. Am I doomed to use twine for the rest of my life?

Nothing works better than punctured inner tubes. Find a bike shop and get a bunch of punctured inner tubes for free. These are better than straps. Way grippier and sturdier.

  2. I carry a big saddle bag on the rear. It has a number of big voile straps and the arno straps that Rivendell sells as “John’s Irish Strap.” Super light and versatile.

  3. Dead inner tubes. I’ve even found plastic buckles that’ll fit 35mm ones so I can adjust the length, stretch the tube around my cargo and click it together. Voila straps come in pretty long sizes if you wanna spend money tho.

I take old bike tubes and cut them and put a not on each end and run that through those metal hooks that come on regular bunjee cargo cords (or whatever they’re called)

This kinda thing is best in my opinion. I just tie the slack back to the handle bars and get on with it. Bought one at Home Depot for $10 some years ago. Somewhere in the between, I got my cats some paracord and it hit me: I can make this thang as long as I could ever dream of

Super light, could make it a hundred feet long if you wanted, enough to strap granny to the pannie and whip it all the way to bingo tell you whut
