I have a Trek Domane SL5 (probably 3rd generation, not entirely sure), which I bought second-hand a few months ago. Since then, I haven't figured out how to adjust the saddle height. The saddle height is fine, but if friends want to ride it, I'd like to be able to adjust it.

The previous owner had a bike fitting, but he surely didn’t glue the saddle in place, right?

The bike is so dirty because I had a flat tire and haven't had the chance to clean it since then. I was also a bit shocked by the photos with the flash, haha.

    Thanks in advance.

    1. I’m sorry to break it to you, OP, but the seatpost adjustment screw is located near the bottom on the backside of the post. Normally, it would be visible through the slot in the first photo, but the post has slipped too far down, so now it’s beneath the slot. This generation of the Domane is notorious for this issue. It can be incredibly difficult to fix, so I recommend bringing it to your local Trek dealer. This was a defect so they would normally do it for free. But since you are the second owner, i’m not too sure.

For more information, search “Trek Domane Gen 3 seat post slipping defect.”

      Good luck.

EDIT: if you want you can try having someone hold the bike down and you pull as hard as you can on the saddle. Don’t use any lubricants, they might damage the carbon.

    2. Rubber mallet. Hit it upwards where the seat clamp is until you see the allen bolt hole. After you get it out, you need a shorter seat post.
