▶️Topics we covered
1. Bike rental:
* Valencia’s city bike rental program is called Valenbisi.
* Private Bike Rental – In Valencia, there are a lot of bike rental shops where you can rent a bike for a few hours to a few days.
2. Bike lanes explained:
* Bike paths can either be a separate lane on the “normal” street, usually color red, or a painted bike lane on the sidewalk.
* The cycle paths (including the Turia) are narrow and almost always two-way (also in the Turia Park). So be aware and try to cycle in one line, don’t bike side to side
* Ciclocalles are special bicycle streets where you share the road with cars.
* If there are no red bike paths or bicycle streets. Then always cycle on the right lane, unless this is a bus lane.
* Map apps will show you two different routes when using public vs private bikes
3. Bike rules:
* You cannot use headphones or a cellphone while on your bike at any time. The use of headphones/ears or a mobile phone on a bicycle is prohibited!
* The maximum speed allowed on a bike lane is 15 km/h (9 miles/hr) (if it is a bike lane on the sidewalk) or 20 km/h (12 miles/hr) (if it is a dedicated lane on the road).
* You must be visible at all times, so at night you must use approved lights at the front and rear of the bike.
* It is illegal to cycle on the pavement, the bus/taxi track (EMT) or cycling in tunnels.
* Children under the age of 16 must wear a helmet.
* Children under 7 (or until they physically fit, generally around 20kg) must travel on a child bike seat, and the bike must be driven by someone over the age of 18.
* You can carry pets with you on a bike.
4. Biking etiquette:
* Using hand signals is key.
* Always be aware of traffic lights and pedestrians are the number one priority.
* Always be on the lookout for pedestrians.
5. No bike lanes:
* If the bicycle path ends you are supposed to cycle on the road. Be careful while doing this because driving on a normal road can be dangerous.
* Biking on a bus-exclusive lane is not allowed. You will find these bus-only lanes marked as “EMT” on the road floor.
* When you are biking on the road, you are only allowed to go in the same direction as the rest of the vehicles.
* If you are not going in the right direction on a one-way road, step off your bike and walk with your bike until you are able to reach the correct direction.
6. Pedestrian lanes:
* You can only bike in pedestrian areas if the width of the street is more than 3 meters or 10 feet.
* Make sure you leave at least 1.5 meters (5 feet) distance from pedestrians at all times.
* Keep your speed under 10 km/h (6 miles/hr)
7. Parking your bike:
* The bikes can only be attached to the designated metal brackets available on the street.
* Parking your bike on the street that is locked to a tree or lamppost is illegal.
* Bikes cannot be attached to another bike and loose on the street.

Thanks man, didn’t know that there is a special tab on Google for Valenbisi, makes life much easier 😂
Hi! New subscribers here. We recently stayed a week in Valencia in July and loved the city so much we hope to relocate there soon. Wish we had this video available before coming to Valencia. We loved exploring the city by valenbesi.
Super video!
Notice when you return a bike to a Valencia Bisi station, you can pick this exact same bike again for an another 30 minutes. (in case there are no bike left in a station for example, or if this specific bike is pretty good)
The best videos by far about Valencia. Very informative.
Great video! thanks for making this one, I´ve been curious about the bike system in Valencia. Quick question…I noticed that you had your phone mounted in one shot on what looked like a personal or rental bike. Can you please share the product page, is it a bike mount that is easy to put on and remove?
Very useful video, thanks!
Very helpful! What an ideal system! I think I’d want to bicycle with others to become familiar before going out on my own.
5:30 oh the Lachine Canal in Montreal! I love cycling here in summer and dream about moving to Valencia in winter. Thanks for the video!
Just rented a bike and rode through the Turia and along the beach today—muy divertido!
Oh wow, just saw this today. Perfect timing as we're going to Valencia next week and your video gives enough info that I'm sure we'll try cycling around. Should be a great way to tour the city! Thanks so much for making the video. 👍
