Got diamondback line during pandemic. I mainly ride road bike now, and occasionally ~twice a month I do some enduro rides on the mountain bike (climb and decent), nothing crazy but we have a nice mountain range in the backyard, 12mi, 2k elevation.
Upgrades:
- Generic amazon cranks from 175mm to 170mm
- Generic pedals
- Raceface grips
- Fox transfer dropper 100mm
- Built both rear and front wheels. DT Swiss enduro 35mm rims, some copy of DT Swiss hub (here is how it sounds). Mullet set up. Tubeless.
- Maxxis Minion Dhr II 2.4 front tire / Maxxis Dissector 2.4 back tire
- RockShox Recon Silver RL 100mm
- Garmin and flashlight mount
- Fidlock bottle cages
Weight of the bike before upgrades – 33.7lb
Weight of the bike after upgrades – 30.4lb
How did I do? What would you do differently? I know frame is shit, but that's what I got and decided its worth working on it and learning some MTB mechanics instead of upgrading for now, since I'm not riding that much.
Spent about $650 on upgrades. Still have old wheelset and fork that I can probably sell for $200.

Looks great.
But my only worry is changing the geometry by going mullet and therefore adding stress to the head tube that the frame wasn’t meant for.
