Trek has bought a lot of independent Bike Shops in Oregon which has to be a huge expense, not sure if this is the case all across the country or not.
Trek bikes are not even any cheaper than pre covid. Also the likes of Polygons are killing them by offering up to date bikes at reasonable cost. Also look around, most guys toying around with full suspension in the forest are old dudes over the age of 30. I don't see any kids under 18 riding a bike for recreation and if they do they are loners.
What are saying is so true. Im in Cape Town. Bought a Stumpjumper Comp Carbon with added extras worth almost more that the bike for a third of the overall cost. Our best bike shops have so much stock and they are discounting everything! The market is saturated with options and the tech level of bikes have peaked way past what normal riders will ever need.

Bought a 22 Marlin 6, upgraded tires, pedals, seat, grips, and fork. For the way I ride it's a great bike. Years ago I bought a Specialized RockHopper and rode the tires off that thing. Ride the same trails guys on 5k bikes are riding. Been riding long enough to know the difference. But I'm there. Been wanting a new road bike. Think I'll find a decent group set and ride that frame for a few more years. With the money I save, I'm getting a CF MOTO 450MT.
I stopped into a large LBS today. Some things were discounted, but only 10-15%. Was hoping for a great deal, but nothing that seriously tempted me to pull out the credit card.

It’s hard to make sales goals when you don’t keep stock. I’ve been looking all over for a trek marlin 6 or 7 gen 3 in a medium and haven’t had any luck at local dealers. Even on their website they don’t have them in stock. Not to mention they continue to have their old versions up that aren’t even available

The SKU reduction will be changing the amount frame sized offered. Bikes wont have 7 different sizes with 5-7 color ways each anymore. FY24 will again be tough on Trek but they are currently profitable this year. As far as the shareholders thing goes Trek isn't public so the shareholders are the employees who had their ESOP slashed by 8% this year.
Most people can buy an electric bike for far less than a pedal bike. That's where the market its.

Trek bike are crap and the stores are horrible most trek stores the workers are not even riders hence the reason I have a headline 2
bike should be not more than $4000, more than that you are in the market for motorcycle prices. It's getting ridiculous and out of control. I only purchase Trek Marlin 6 and its almost $800 plus I will never buy new one until I get a big discount or buy a new motorcycle instead.
In the real world…..Highend meticulously designed and made frames/ componets are a niche. If you really want to scrutinize mark up and the rules of economics then the Ford F 150 should be one of the cheapest vehicles to buy, as it is the number one selling vehicle in the USA. But when people are rolling up in their 60,0000+ pick up trucks with an 80 dollar belly full of gas, makes you wonder. I'll ride my 6000 dollar full suspension carbon mtb that requires very little upkeep, no gas and no electricity, and no insurance. Go for a ride.

Aww…poor Trek my heart bleeds for you. It couldn't be simpler. Covid hit and the big brands decided to cash grab instead of looking after its pre-existing customer base. Now, post pandemic, all that is left over are massive inventories that can't be moved, and fashion cyclists on world cup bikes now collecting dust in the garage because the trend is over. I have a great idea. Why don't they lower the price of the f**** bikes just a little bit so people will buy them again. Their bikes are so expensive. It is absolutely ridiculous. Same thing with yeti and cannondale. $7000 for a bike $10000 for a bite. $20000 for a bite people don't have that kind of money right now. There's a recession, but they still want to go mountain bike. And these people are patting their pockets with record number profits. I just picked up a brand new 2024 Salsa Blackthorn (MSRP $3500) for $1760. There are companies out there still listing the frame (no fork) for $2000.
The industry is racing to the bottom. Now is absolutely the time to buy a high end bike.
If I'm not mistaken, Trek isn't a publicly traded company as stated in this video. It's employee/family owned. Inventory (which sits) not turning is expensive. To my eye, Trek executives are doing exactly the right thing, albeit, late perhaps to place the company on a firm foundation. Firm found is defined by "not losing money. It takes serious wisdom and business experience to manage a company through normal times, let alone the largest boom market in bike manufacture history. Give them credit for right sizing which means don't spend more than you make.

You can buy a decent used car for the price of an entry legal road bike and a car is more useful and never hard to sell if you decide to sell. A road bike is always hard to sell. Not to mention all this bid bike corporations their bikes are made cheap in china, I recommend buying bikes from save deck or sunpeed it’s the same quality 😂😂😂

I just spend $700 on a trek marlin 6. Great bike, but I felt like I was spending a good amount of money for someone who’s a novice. Come to find out there are $5k and 10k+ bikes out there I just couldn’t imagine spending that. The BMW I drive I spent 10k on…..
Trek was always overpriced. They just recently lowered prices, OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE BIKES. 🤣 I can get a $10,000 bike for only $6,000! Woohoo! I'll take two please!
Good grief. They need to learn how to roll with the times, but instead… no more bikes! No more choices! Only hardtails get discounts! 🤣 I'm selling my hardtail Trek right now because I picked up an equally spec'd full suspension for the same price. I'll call the depreciation a rental fee and lesson learned.
