Hello. Bon Jour. So. Recently my wife and I began our transition to living in a small town in Spain. Not having an EU driver's license and currently not owning a car there I made the decision to purchase an e-bike for getting around the town and not walking myself into a grumpy pile. As you rightly point out, you feel better all-around by getting out there. I do have one concern over your personal set up: With your crate sitting atop your rack, you are quite "high-centered". You might consider bags that hang down from the rack. I found a great unit at Decathlon for about 35 euros. Just a thought. Anyway, enjoy your travels and hope you stay safe.
I do wish our government will also offer some type of help for purchasing these. There are cheap ebikes in my country ($400) but the great ones cost up to $1,500 – five months of salary here lol
"There's the problem of the lithium battery" I call BS!
Consumption is consumption. Regardless of what we mention, there's the problem of mining, environmental destruction, labor abuse, etc.
The people who bring up issue with Lithium mining will bring up problems with any solution that arises.
I need more battery capacity for my e-bike and i'm a person of little money.
I calculate that the most fuel efficient car will cost 17 cents per mile in fuel. A 500W E-bike would cost 0.5 cents per mile in electricity.
So, just in fuel alone, car commuting will cost, at least, 34 times what e-bike commuting would cost.
