Episode 5: Great roads should be hard to find and reach and Norway has some of the best remote roads to cycle. But many come to a dead-end as their purpose is to facilitate hiking opportunities. In 2022 we decided to bridge two hiking roads by walking 10km with our bikes across a wild untamed region of Breheim National Park. The next year we decided to take it to another level with a 16km hike across a glacier plateau in Norway’s most extreme National Park. On either side, there were epic gravel roads to cycle. Is this the new frontier of Bikepacking? Will this become the next ‘trend’ in this evolving activity?

  1. Fabulous! Made my day! When i was 12, my family and i camped at Spiterstulen then walked over what felt like an endless boulder field on the way to the top of Galdhopiggen. Happy days. Thanks for sharing your wondeful adventures. Lovely waffles, too. Greetings from Devon.

  2. nice one… but you missed the scenic route over Glittertind. but it wouldbe better to hike the other way with bikes – its easier to go up than down when its steep. ..maybe it could be possible to take the wheels of so the bike package was more compact and easier to handle in rough terrain… maybe with the frame vertikal and higher.

  3. How many people have died attempting this ride/hike with their mummified corpses piled up along the way? Obviously you survived and I am happy for you.

  4. I'm pretty sure I invented that bike carrying system with an old rucksack in the late 80's 😊
Another excellent adventure and film, thankyou Matthew of Norway ❤
