  1. Seems to me as soon as you leave your house you are in danger of being fined for some infraction of the 'law.'..Great Britain used to be called Treasure Island, but for a different reason…now its citizens are just 'cash cows' for local authorities…What amazes me is you all put up with it, perhaps the ULEZ protests are just the start of a fight back against authoritarianism..

  2. After watching that right wing barrister guy on YouTube it seems likely that all fines should be rescinded on the grounds that this is unfair. However as the council earns millions I image they would offer a robust defence in court. Surely this is a case that should be challenged properly? A wealthy person with deep pockets should employ a top end legal firm to get this sorted out

  3. I literally hate driving in Brighton and as a result of that, and feeling violated every time I park, I just dont go in anymore.

I must confess I am also one of those old folk that frequented Brighton in the '90's and bemoan the loss of character…😳

  4. THIS IS WHAT I HATE ABOUT THE UK as if the taxes are not high enough…

I live in Bulgaria now – flat rate 10% tax on income and wealth. Very strict traffic laws but NO devious cons. If you get caught you know you were in the wrong.

  5. I'd probably drive on the wrong side of the road to get past the trap and give the idiot council a double whammy. Lol. I've heard of councils using college students and non-drivers for road planning. After all, traffic management is an oxymoron. (And often managed my morons)

  6. There was a time, after the end of WW2, when the country was run and rebuilt for the benefit of the population. This is no longer the case. What the hell is government and local government for if not to help and protect society?

  7. If you think that's bad go to Sheffield centre, one road was blocked by building work and the only way back out was through bus gates, there's one bus gate without even any signs just a different coloured bit on the road, I read that hundreds have been caught out by it. it's a complete racket.

  8. There's one in Pendeford near Wolverhampton as well. You drive all the way through a large industrial estate and the only way out is either through a 100 metre long bus lane or all the way back the way you came in. There is absolutely no reason for it to be buses only as it's a wide road with loads of room. Designed purely and simply as a trap.

  9. 1) Can't have signs on traffic lights for a time-restricted bus gate
    2) If you can't see those two massive blue and yellow signs then you shouldn't be driving as you clearly don't have good eyesight – it's 20m from the clock tower to the signs.
    3) Even after that, if you have any doubts, can't quite see or confused? Turn left. Not difficult…

  10. Can people not have good grounds to appeal that??

If not i say more power to people stopping and causing chaos! Its not their fault. Have jams until the council stops being useless!!

Thanks for heads up if im ever in Brighton (don’t think i will be though as its about as far away from where i live in uk as possible) i will know to avoid this trap

  11. There is one in Aberdeen too but its not a trap- a long road and halfway along narrow to single track and has a 2 m one way section for cars but buses can go both ways. So if you drive through it wrong way you get charged for being in a bus lane!
A U-turn is needed to avoid it

However it is heavily sign posted when you come to it so i can say it is a trap but i did fall foul of it first time and i didn’t even notice it! I was too focussed on a conversation with a friend in the car 😒 and just assumed it was a narrowing for speed control.

Guess we need to be on look out for things like this- impeded traffic flows and sly little money generating layouts

  12. You just need a big sign on the road that says 'all traffic' with a big left arrow.

If it had a sign telling you where you could go then I'd agree with the fine

  13. If you look well enough you can see the cycle bus and taxi only road sign from quite far back but nobody is perfect, we’re only human, it’s easy to make mistakes.

  14. Yep, Birmingham City Council caught me out recently, like it this video clip a bus lane entrance of about 20’feet and that’s it… £105 fine. Basically mugged. If Councils’ keep biting the hands that feed them, it’s not going to end well. Leeches, all of them!

  15. Prime example of deception & revenue raising ! Always always target the car driver ! It will backfire one of these days !

  16. TBF the signage should be more concise but there are actually two signs both on the left & on the right side of the road but these pen pushers take advantage very cunningly !
