  1. Love Gonky’s early comment – this reminds me of when your in Texas and you go hog hunting .

Full circle back to the early days of shooting a gun/rifle out of a plane .

If it works , saves a ton of cash vs using a $1,000,000 missile and an F35

  2. 2:12 gonky: "I would like to shoot down a drone tho, from an airplane, with a rifle"
mace: "to get back on topic, yes."

    it's funny cuz it's true.

  3. With CBP we trained and tested shooting from the UH-60 and Astar's at drones and boats. It does take some practice to learn the proper "lead" but it's doable. We also found out that Shotguns, with 00 loads, were the best. Overall, it was FINDING the drone that was the most difficult thing to do. Boats were not difficult but small drones crossing the border were the most difficult to find.

  4. The 8-guage shotguns used in 19th century commercial fowl hunting are basically relevant again. The 8 and 10-guage shells were used to shoot down several passenger pigeons all at once.

I also note, in that part of the world a 4-guage shotgun exists, and might be an even better candidate for anti-drone operations.

  5. So you guys pro Putin or pro Ukraine? Or isolationist who could care less about geopolitics and how this impacts our country and economy regardless? We are sending them equipment that is to be decommissioned and destroyed that is old. So you guys think we should just let Russia bully Ukraine 🇺🇦 and things will be fine? Pick a side

  6. Using light aircraft makes more sense for Ukraine. Helicopters are in relatively short supply and are needed by front line forces. Light Aircraft have no real use besides basic flight training. This gives them a better purpose not to mention they are cheap and easily replaceable.

  7. They do have the drone guns but they are not working that well, as both militaries are using different frequencies now to fly drones , juat to avoid that.

  8. This conversation just sparked a thought. I wonder how many people on the ground got killed or injured from air to air battles? Watching all the WWII films of the battles it never once entered my thoughts I'm sure it was a real thing.

  9. During the siege of Malta, the put together a bomber interceptor.
It was a Gloster Gladiator with 4 extra 303 machine guns bolted on.
That would be the equivalent of a crop duster with 8 7.62mm machine guns bolted under the wings
