Who knew St Helen,s had a transport museum?
I grew up in Garswood so I know this area very well. In fact in 2015 I rode my bike from Ashton to Garswood to Billinge over Crank to Eccleston then back to Ashton along East Lancs Rd which has a great bike path. The band I was in played at Lowe House Catholic club in 1980, I remember it because the stage was so high our multicore cable to the mixer barely got off the stage ! Sad The Stork pub is finally being demolished, I think it is as old as the church next door. Same with the Stag in Garswood now closed down like so many pubs. The parking lot you passed through was originally the site of a railway station that linked St Helens with Lowton via Haydock, Ashton and Golborne.
My neck of the woods great info about my local town I love to cycle to the top of Billinge lump as its locally known but it can be a slog but worth the veiws on a good clear day thanks for the informative vids
"I think they were just Goths….let's Bimble." excellent x
Currently sat in me tent next to lake windermere and still tuned in good evening watch that,
Thanks, I’m from St Helen’s and learnt some stuff I didn’t know. I’m descended from one of 12 brothers who were known at Lowe House as the “12 Apostles”
Thanks God on a bike.
Another informative bimble . I will forward it . To a few Saints mates ( David a Wire fan ) museum use to have a Mog ( German ) fire engine . Last time I visited .
Nice one Kieran. You're turning me into quite a fan of old churches! As always, very enjoyable, thanks. (Al Kennett)
