Hello everyone, I am going to do my best to keep this story efficient and easy to read. 6 months ago l purchased my first road bike being a 2022 Scott Addict 30 in grey. I've ridden like a mad man for the last 6 months and decided to make some upgrades.
About a month after I got into riding my brother decided he wanted to as well. So about 5 months ago our local bike shop that we utilize had the same bike in a year newer, so he ended up purchasing a 2023 Scott Addict 30 in a deep red/burgundy. Fast forward to now and my brother has become addicted and has already moved onto a Winspace T1500 that he has built out so his red Scott is sitting and he plans on selling. I have also recently purchased some components but the two that I am seeking advice on is a gold OSPW from Nova Ride and a gold chainring/aero cover from Alugear. I have always liked the look of gold and felt like it would be different and allow my build to stand out. I understand there may be some of you that are not a fan of gold on any bike but what I would like to know is what do you guys think would look better? Do I put these gold components on the grey Scott or would the gold be better suited on the burgundy Scott? They are both the exact same frame and group set being Shimano 105 11 speed. Whichever bike doesn't get the components put on would then be sold. Appreciate you guys reading this and providing your feedback!

    1. The gold parts would look better on the grey Scott I think. But personally I’d have a carbon chainring rather than gold, but I would still go with the derailleur you’ve chosen. The burgundy Scott would look better on the whole with upgraded parts. Would love to see the result

    2. I’d probably just sell off those components. You could also put some oven cleaner on the parts to strip off that gold.

Just keep the bike stock, work on getting your position dialled, spend the money on changing parts that will make you more comfortable, eg narrower or shallower bars perhaps, shorter cranks if required etc. Then if you want to throw more money at it upgrade your wheels first. Once you’ve done all that fill your boots with whatever aesthetic upgrades you want to go for.

Looks pretty great as is tbh.

      I loooooovvveee Gold!!!!

Put them on the Burgundy Bike and sell the grey one.

    5. It’s gonna look like ass on both tbh.

The silver Scott is nicer IMO.. but either will be ruined by gold components.
