After grabbing a new Domane AL4 earlier this week, I couldn't believe it when Trek announced their summer clearance just a day later – with a $1000 discount off the SL5. I went back and forth over the upgrade for the last day, but ultimately decided to go for the carbon bike.

The frame upgrade, bump to 105, and factory tubeless setup, along with the ability to carry a flat kit in the d/t storage sold it for me.
Local Trek store was more than happy to let me utilize the 30-day guarantee and trade the AL4 for an SL5 in Mercury.

Pretty stoked; this is my first carbon bike, and the colorway is killer (IMO). Isospeed installed is already Rev 2, I know Rev 1 had a lot of problems. And yes, I've already fixed the saddle tilt. Next up is doing something about the spacer stack; will probably chop that in half to start and see how I like it.

Congrats! The color looks a lot better in these photos than what’s shown on their website.

I decided to take advantage of the new sale as well. Had ordered an SL6 AXS and then a day later the sale came up so I ordered the SLR6 instead. 🤪 Now will have to ship the SL6 AXS back…

  2. Very nice. The paint shop at Trek has been on their A+++ game these past couple of years.
