I have had the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for 4 months. I have taken it all over the world and shot numerous hours of content, in all situations and environments. This camera is almost the perfect vlogging camera, except for one major problem. Thanks to Squarespace for their sponsorship. I realise that in this video I failed to go over my DJI history, which led to my conclusion. See below:
Phantom 4 – great. No issues.
Mavic 1 – encountered fly always & it was glitchy.
Mavic Air – perfect, until one day it began moving by itself, a lot. I lost confidence.
DJI Osmo Action – Bricked after a month of light use. Had to send back for repair.
Wireless Mics – Amazing, until the receiver stopped taking a charge. Sent back for repair after 3 months.
Mavic Air 2 – no issues. Love it.
Pocket 3 – broke down at the worst possible time. Unexplained & not weather related.
So, why do I keep buying them? Because they're so good!!! It's worth the uncertainty 😂
its a 20mm fov not 24mm
Which mic are you using in your studio?
Which nd filter do you use ?
It’s so bad that you need to buy 2
THIS SH!T IS STUPID…. HOW BOUT START YOUR OWN COMPANY… YOU DONT HAVE THE MONEY OR TECH SMARTS…. TIRED OF YOU SO CALLED INFLUENCERS
He literally said at the the start of the video DO NOT BUY DJI PRODUCTS – Then when introducing his vlogging set up, he said he uses the DJI mics hahaha. At that point he lost me and I stopped watching 😂😂😂😂
The mic 2 can be connected to the Pocket 3. It's a bit complicated and also re-pairing with the receiver, but it works.
Do you perhaps have a video going through the hiking gear you use? Curious about @9:19 the orange jacket and what is called? Is it one of those puffer jackets?
Sorry you missed your snow leopard shot but this could have happened in any situation with any product. No product is 100% reliable. The issue could have been the cold air, air pressure, the combination of both or who knows what else? The fact that the camera was working once you got back to your car says something at that critical juncture prevented the camera from working. If the camera does fail multiple times then I would suggest you update this video to indicate such occurrences. If the camera failure hot not occurred again in a similar environment then I would just accept it happened and move on. No need to buy two as a backup. Worst case scenario is that both might fail in the same situation. All the best.
All electronic devises fail at some point – if dji fails im fine if the plane fails thats a problem . Sadly electronic devices are just… electronic devices and one will never dies and the other dies next month …
Noooo 😩 I feel so bad for you about this snow leopard story ! Can't believe it 🤦🏻♂ You nailed it tho ! Tahnk you for this video my friend. 🙏🏼
Awesome video. I've been looking into making this purchase.
Why is every shot so flat? Did you not convert to rec709?
Thanks so much.. I am looking for something that can film my stage show.. do you think it would be a good match?
i was wondering what ian beale was up too
The video is clickbait. He ends up saying: "Don't buy one buy two".
Summary written by ChatGPT so you don't have to watch the whole video:
– Positive:
– Excellent image quality and depth of field
– Compact, lightweight design, fits in the pocket
– Good low-light capabilities, sharp images even in darkness
– Face tracking works reliably 90% of the time
– Fast charging time
– Good audio quality with the included microphone from the Creator Bundle
– Negative:
– Older DJI microphones are not compatible without additional adapters
– Not weather-resistant, sensitive to water
– Message about microphone connection blocks the screen for several seconds
– Main criticism: Reliability. The camera failed at crucial moments
– Recommendation: Buy two cameras to mitigate failures
– Conclusion: Almost the perfect vlogging camera, but to be used with caution due to reliability issues
It works seamlessly with DJI Mic 2. Never ever buy the first iteration of any tech product. It's a simple rule.
I bought it some time ago. Zero problems, absolutely amazing device. I recommend to everyone!
I'm looking into either getting one of these (or the new version which I read comes out soon?) or the action 4 for a long road trip and want to be able to mount to dashboard to get video as well as handheld.. can this be mounted onto dashboard somehow? Great video, loved the ending twist. Ya got me!
This video makes no sense!! do not buy any DJI products but let me use the Osmo pocket 2!! Wtf furthermore if you’re going on a once in a lifetime trip why would you ever just bring one camera?
I just bought a pocket 3. So far, my biggest complaint is the active track not keeping my head in the upper third of the screen – and I haven't even shot anything yet (other than test shots). Seems like a simple firmware update could make that work in selfie mode. Maybe @djisupportglobal can address this?
Very interesting and totally useless review
If you "do a lot of filming, that [you] can't reshoot", why are you expecting to rely on a $700 piece of kit to be 100% reliable? What you're saying to us is, that you'd pay $1200 for a reliable version of this. What product is there that actually exists that meets that requirement and profile? You do highly specialized shooting, expect to pay more than $700 – a lot more, and I don't mean $1200 – to fit your technical demands. Your history with DJI only reinforces this, it's not an argument in your favour.
As a “pro” on a “once in a lifetime” shoot, not having a backup for your main camera to support your narcissism is… “unforgivable”. As is expecting a “prosumer, at best” piece of gear to perform without issue in extreme uses. Other than your wildly ridiculous expectations for a $400 consumer electronic piece or any of your whining list of consumer grade gear with issue while being used professionally, great video! I highly suggest pitching a documentary to a major broadcast company so you can get the financing for a real crew using professional gear, but even with proper budgets I bet they have backups as well.…
damn shame yours broke down at such an inopportune time. seems like it's a net positive tho! I'm getting one for basic high-quality video content but you seem to use it for so much more so I'm sold!
