Police have named four members of the same family who died along with a man and a woman when a car and a motorbike collided.

West Yorkshire Police said Shane Roller, 33, his 30-year-old partner Shannen Morgan and their daughters Rubie and Lillie Morgan-Roller, aged nine and four, were killed near Wakefield on Sunday afternoon.

The force was not yet in a position to name the motorcyclist and pillion passenger who also died at the scene on the A61.

The family group were travelling in a Ford Focus which was understood to have burst into flames following the collision which happened at about 3.54pm.

    1. Was speed a factor or road layout not sure how many people have been killed on smart motorways never mind these small crashes ohh the goverment will do as the want cause they work for none of us

    2. tragifc and quite freak moment!! motor cycle and car collision and yet everyone in the car perished too!! Ford… is that sports version? appears that road is dangerous for drivers… the speed limit should be 50mph for these roads… even village roads are national speed limit…. appears the road bends and rising ,a blind spot. speed should have been reduced

    3. Absolutely terrible. Any thoughts on the poor motorcycle rider and female pillion who also lost their lives? Any go fund me for these two? I hope the public are not assuming it was the motorcycles fault?

    4. I live in the city and these roads always scare me so I drive slow on the rare occassions I get on them. Then I get people right up behind me like I'm committing some terrible crime and I'm driving too slow for their roads. Does it really matter if you get somewhere a few minutes later?

    5. Very tragic incident but from the scene pics it appears a high speed overtake attempt of a vehicle towing a Caravan but in the most inappropriate place for the overtake on a slight bend

    6. I drive an old camper van, and can tell you, people cut you off and assume you can stop, slam on their brakes in front of you, perform shit overtakes and all sorts. Drive and old and slow vehicle and you’ll see it all
