The third night of the 2024 Republican National Convention kicks off July 17 in Milwaukee, with former President Donald Trump and JD Vance as the party’s official nominees for the Republican presidential ticket. PBS News Hour’s special coverage begins with our nightly broadcast at 6 p.m. EDT. The RNC’s theme for the day is “Make America Strong Once Again,” and Vance is expected to cap the evening with an official address accepting his party’s nomination as Trump’s running mate.
Speakers will take the stage in Milwaukee at 6:45 p.m. EDT. Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett will anchor PBS News’ gavel-to-gavel special coverage beginning at 8 p.m. EDT, which will feature reporting from correspondent Lisa Desjardins and analysis from special correspondent Judy Woodruff, Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, The New York Times’ David Brooks and Jonathan Capehart of The Washington Post.
