Travelling from Luxembourg to Czechia

Beautiful biking roads, open coal mines and multiple Lidls await us on the road between three countries – see Luxembourg, Germany and Czechia in this whistlestop tour.

No Lederhosen for me in Bavaria this time, though. Sorry.

I’m in Luxembourg in a little town called Vanden which is um uh north of Luxembourg City I got to this hotel it’s the last room that they’ve got available and so I just got it he said oh have you already put your bike in the garage I said no and he showed me where it was and I’ve come down here and is an absolute Treasure Trove I mean look at all these this is obviously where people come with their bikes we’ve got Harley Davidson in the back there super adventure there’s a couple of tracers that I’ve seen there a tracer 900 uh RS BMW RS here another that’s a Super Duke I think or super adventure another GS KTM lots of KTMs it’s beautiful old Toyota RS GS but then look at this back here there’s a Porsche Boxer there there’s a Porsche Boxster here couple of gs’s at the back even more gs’s over there I mean obviously BMW gs’s are the bike to have but my goodness [Music] [Music] hello from somewhere in West Germany I’ve been riding for about an hour and a half already so I’ve covered quite a lot of ground most of it on the motorway which is Bonkers in Germany there are people going very very quickly because it doesn’t appear that there’s an upper speed limit on the motorway so yeah it’s pretty nuts but this road is fantastic and there’s quite a lot of bikes you’ll probably see going past in the background and you can see why it’s just stunning just hundreds of miles of uninterrupted curvy roads that all lend themselves beautifully to riding Luxembourg was the same this morning and you’ll see from the footage that you know it’s just gorgeous riding it’s curvy roads through the mountains it was quite funny though because I I sort of went I’m just going to get out of Luxembourg as quickly as I can and so I set off from the hotel 2 minutes later I was in Germany it was right on the border and I hadn’t realized uh yeah so anyway so I stopped for a quick break just a stretch now on the road I wanted to I wanted to see how I was feeling before I decided where I was going to stay and actually I’m feeling all right today I’m a bit achy in places it’s been two days of pretty solid riding we’re talking five or six hours in the seat and today is going to be the same so I want to try and push and do as many miles as I can today so that the next two days are a little bit lighter um and I can just chill out a little bit more So the plan is to try and get to just outside of nurenberg so west of nberg by a few miles I found a nice BMW I found a nice place just outside of Newburg an Airbnb uh for about 36 I think it’s just a room with a bathroom on Suite absolutely fine for me anyway so uh yeah I’m going to hit the road it’s going to be about 3 and a half hours so again in total today I probably would have done about four to five hours of riding depending on how quick I’ve gone on the motorway and how quick I uh I’m going to go after this point and whether I make any other stops and this is the first unscheduled stop today but I can’t guarantee there’s not going to be more because this landscape is beautiful and I just kind of want to take it in a bit and I’ve never been to this part of West Germany this is not too far from Frankfurt but I only actually went to the city last time so I never saw this Countryside and it’s lovely [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] good morning from the quiet Village of nof anderen which is deep in the heart of Bavaria I’ve had no signal and the Wi-Fi didn’t really work so didn’t manage to do much in the way of um editing or anything like that last night and there’s nothing here there’s there’s no shop no restaurant and I ended up last night actually traveling off into the next next but one Village it’s about 7 kmet away for a pizza um it’s very quiet here as you can see from the footage there’s nothing here at all it’s tiny and it’s just again it’s really pretty it’s really um nice if you like quiet Village living it’s the place to be I covered quite a lot of mileage yesterday I think I did 270 miles without the extra bits turned from The Village at the end um which is a long old way I did lots of Motorway miles uh which was a bit boring bit mad um but did get me there pretty quickly so I then took a turning off around here and then disappeared off into the countryside and that was very very nice some really nice twisty roads a little bit more fun and um yeah some good riding yesterday and I thought I’d be feeling it a little bit more than I am today actually I I got to bed in a reasonable time got pretty good night sleep I’m feeling quite refreshed today which I was not expecting so I’ve decided I’m going to push on and actually reach czechia today which I wasn’t expecting to do I thought i”d still be in Germany but um seeing as I got basically halfway through the country um I’m going to go the rest of the way and get into CIA there’s a town on the on the western reaches of the Bohemian region in czechia called carsbad which I was looking up uh the other day and it’s famous for its hot springs and so it’s a spart town and I figured well if I can get there soon enough I could probably find a nice place to stay so tomorrow I need to be in Pride because I need to meet with Laura who’s flying in uh from the UK for a gig tomorrow night and we’re going to be spending a couple of days together in Prague before I then head up to Berlin a couple of days later on Thursday so I need to make sure that I’m basically near Prague tomorrow it’s very hot today it’s like 31 degrees I think it’s going to get to um from what I read yesterday so yeah I’m not looking forward to being in the leathers and the jeans all day yeah I might push on see if I can get some proper Mars on my belt and then um yeah go to car’s b as soon as I can but first need to find some breakfast okay so just found what is basically like a cost the coffee just in a like in an industrial Shopping Center Park called bro house and wow I ordered well I doesn’t really know what I was ordering to honest but I ordered the um gron pushu which is a green breakfast and there’s like a cucumbers we’ve got kiwi Grapes apple there’s this is like a chocolate spread type stuff there’s I don’t even know what that is granola milk yogurt delicious also they seem to have something which they call the Brock buet which is where I got these Breads in the basket you just basically help yourself to whatever bread you want which I mean there’s a lot that we could learn from Germany to be honest [Music] this is a good a day as I need to start the r building of Life the roads that lay open arm many when the old one’s gone under the knife and I can feel the sun on my [Music] skin hello welcome to cheze here the artist formerly known as the Czech Republic and welcome especially to this this is LOM drba or the drba pit which I just stumbled upon actually I was looking for just somewhere to stop the bike and have a break and came off the road and just found this absolutely spectacular site this is a coal mine an open pit coal mine that dates back to around 1642 where they would dig down to find coal seams around 24 MERS high and you can actually still see there are certain parts I don’t know if I can point them out but basically down here where you can still see some of the coal through the uh through the landscape and especially in the northern side as well um it’s incredible and you can still see that there’s obviously Lots going on still now there are signs of Industry they are still digging through various different layers here what’s really cool is you can kind of see the development of the earth through layers apparently through where they dig down you can see where different kinds of rock formations are layered within the the crust anyway so I’m making very good time I’m uh not too far away now from my destination so just thought it was worth having a quick break before I make the trip into town and go and see what it’s got to offer so I’ve arrived in car’s bad and it is very very hot outside it’s now 33° so I’m quite glad just to be in the cool really um for a little while before I go out and do a bit of exploration it looks like most of the shops and things are shut but um I just want to go around and have a look at some of the uh like the municipal buildings and bits and pieces um this evening cuz I think the hot springs are are just open so I’m I’m going to go and check them out but I just wanted to show the apartment really so this is it um little bathroom in here it’s nice enough there’s a kitchen with a table sofa fridge all the various bits and pieces even a washing machine which I’m contemplating using today because they even have some stuff which I hadn’t noticed so I actually could just put a quick wash on and then leave my things hanging on the balcony um and then through to the bedroom which is quite sizable like it’s it’s big bit of storage and then out here onto the balcony and we’re right in the middle of town here which means that yes there is a little right next door which is open until 9: so that I’ll do for my shopping and the bike is just down there so not bad really and this was all 50 would you believe for all of this right so yeah I’m pretty happy with that so uh yeah I’m going to investigate the washing machine and then um change my shoes head out [Music] take take take take take it all make me go insane you making me see I want you to scream [Music] apparently there’s a uh doctor here somewhere that will basically look at what your malady is and then prescribe one of the different Springs that you should drink from it’s c your elment I don’t think I’m going to bother with that myself but dear but you can see that there’s several of them just built into this enormous great big thing in the middle of town and uh yeah it’s free water it’s like really hot as well um so yeah and it’s directly from the spring so it’s um quite tasty I suppose something like 60° so it’s very comfortable for you to touch [Music] [Music] good morning from carsbad on little um I realized when I was editing the video last night that I didn’t actually close it so that’s what I’m going to do now um so is now Tuesday and I’m going to be spending the next 2 hours actually as it turns out getting across to Prague before I do I’m going to just have a quick exploration around uh locally because I think there is one or two local attractions I just want to go and have a quick look at before I go and then yeah I’m in Prague for a couple of days so um Laura gets a flight in a couple of hours we’ll land at about 3 something and I’m going to be in prag for tonight for a gig with the midnight which I cannot wait for I haven’t seen them for a little while and yeah it’s always a brilliant gig um so once that’s done we’re going to spend a couple of days in Prague and then Thursday I am going to be heading over to Berlin now Prague to Berlin I have to do in a day because I’ve also got another gig with the midnight on Thursday night in Berlin and that trip is quite a quite a big one and that’s going to be uh nearly 4 hours I think of riding on motorways and and just getting there as quickly as I can so that’s going to be a bit of a heavy day but what’s nice is I don’t actually have to ride at all tomorrow so once I’m in prag I can leave the bike for a day have a bit of a break and then come back to it fresh on Thursday so I’m quite looking forward to having a day off really um yeah see the next video is going to be a little while because I’m going to be spending a few days in Prague and then heading over to bin gigs and some pretty heavy days um but I am going to be trying to take some video as I can and then hopefully I’ll get to some editing and have something ready for the weekend so um yeah keep your eyes out for another video hopefully this weekend enjoy your week thanks for coming with me as always remember to like this
