I just bought a Trek Checkpoint alr4 this 2nd of July.
I mainly use this bike commuting in LA because the road condition isn't good enough for road bike for where I work.
I was initially checking the crank set because everytime I peddle relatively hard like going up hill there are noises. But then I saw this.
The paint inside the crack is even so I suspect it's a manufacturing deflect or transportation damage. If it's damaged by impact, the paint should most likely be damaged as well since it needs a really strong impact to crash in this much.
Can anyone give some insights on what would cause this? I am a little frustrated about this bike. Because I only got this bike for 12 days and I have experienced 3 issues. First it's the front breaking disk offset a little so there are noises when front wheel is turning. And then 2 new issues as I said above. I have to spent 1 hour round trip to the deale just to fix the issue.
I understand bicycle is tool at the end of the days it needs maintenance and care to keep it going. But I just didn't expect to have these many issues over this short period of time. Not to mention it's a brand new bike.

Allow frame. Not a crack on the frame, but definitely a paint imperfection due to transportation or something shortly after you picked it up. Did you buy it at a Trek shop?
