As in the photos, I can’t seem to fit the wire for the rear derailleur into the clip in the frame. There isn’t enough slack in the wire to allow the bit on the wire to fit in the clip. It seems to have come loose while the bike was shipped, but not sure how. Any suggestions? The bike is a Carrera Virtuoso

    2. Make sure to shift to the highest gear. The cable is most relaxed when on the smallest cog.

You shouldn’t be able to get enough slack in the system if the cable is clamped in the rd, you need to unbolt it there and you’ll be able to pull it up and bend it as needed to get it in.

I would however say I can see the end of the cable is frayed to all hell, I’d be putting a new inner on it whilst on the job

      1) turn the pedals and push the rear derailleur into the lowest gear (largest sprocket)

      2) stop turning the pedals, shift the shifter to the highest gear, but leave the derailleur in the low gear. There won’t be cable tension, but the chain will hold it there

      3) pull the housing into the cable stop and seat it

      4) turn the pedals to allow the rear derailleur to shift into the gear the shifter is on, or shift the shifter to the low gear. You’re done.
