My bike has started making a clicking sound whenever I pedal. It doesn’t do it during coasting and I think weight/pressure plays an issue because I can’t replicate it on a bike rack, only when riding it. Any ideas?

The bike feels normal when riding and it doesn’t feel like anything is catching. It also happens in every gear and like I said, it happens when pedaling. It’s really driving me up the wall.

EDIT: Hey everyone, just want to say thank you for all the suggestions. I’m still working my way through them. No luck yet. I will update if I can figure out where its coming from.

    2. The cable end sticking out of the front derailleur tapping the crank arm as you pedal in certain gears.

    3. Does changing gears change the clicking? Sometimes I’ll get a clicking and what’s happened is one of the derailleurs (usually the front one going and usually going from small chain ring to large) is the cause. I simply adjust the shifter. I’ve also had a clicking when the wheel magnet was touching the sensor. But yours only does it when pedaling.

if you are up out of the saddle and you still hear it, it’s not the seat or seat post.

It could be drive train related or wheel related.

Do you have a Shimano Ultegra or Dura-ace crankset? They’ve been recalled and make a similar noise to this. If so, bring it by your LBS. They will inspect the crank and process the warranty claim for you.

    6. Its the pedals. Remove, disassemble and grease the fuck out of your pedals, including threads. Worked for me

Mark saddle height. Take seat post out of frame, wipe post and clamp. Reinsert and adjust to height.
