eurobike 2024 day three okay we’ve had two days of amazing Tech I still feel like there’s low down there so let’s go and find out some incredible new tech okay we’re here with Nikolai and we’ve got the nucleon 16 it’s a bit of a mouthful and Visually there’s a lot going on but there is so much packed into this bike for a long time the pro Racers who work with the team injo wanted a high pivot bike and Nikolai spent apparently about 5 years developing it so what you’re seeing is a single pivot with a link activated shock and a high pivot there’s a lot going on there’s a lot of adjustment so we can change the shock length which also changes actually travel as well so we can do 160 mil of travel or 170 we’ve also got adjustable dropouts on the end and the way they’ve been designed just changes the rear center so often you’ll see adjustable dropouts and it might change other things like bottom bracket height or head angle but with this they’ve strived to make sure that those changes are kept independent other stuff that’s useful to know we’ve got external guide for the cable routing all 3D printed 3D printed it’s also featured on the Chain protection as well which is a really nice feature up front we’ve got the new intend Forks these were 180s but you can go up to 190 on this bike if you so wish it’s a real beast and with a rear axle path it’s going to just dominate tough steep Rocky gnarly Ino tracks just stumbled across these physique shoes they’re not new new but this is the proxy so it’s a newer lightweight XC race shoe well you can ride it on a gravel bik too and someone who’s really quite quick and one Unbound yes lack used these physique shoes well not these exact ones um but yeah super interesting shoe Pac Melvin is also on them too you don’t have to get them in this wild color there’s also a white and a black okay we’ve seen lots of gortex shoes before these ones are the erotex lace up gortex shoe but these ones are a flat shoe so it’s got a viam sole um nice and grippy key feature it’s also really walkable as well so lots of traction on the toe and the heel so yeah interesting shoe okay physique have been making 3D printed saddles for a long time uh this is the Argo Adaptive One so this upper foam padding well it’s not foam padding it’s a 3D printed elasta it’s really quite gamechanging and now for a long time they’ve been producing them but there have been a big change recently because physique have developed a what they’re calling onetoone system whereby you can go into selective stores you can get your yeah your da a 3D mapped and you can get a custom 3D printed saddle so it’s really maximizing this 3D print technology I’m trying to think of another brand that’s doing this and I can’t really impressive Innovation Bulls is a massive brand here in Germany it might not be on the tip of your tongue if you’re from the UK but they’re are big big team and this race bike developed by KL plat has done incredibly well at the cape epic it’s 120 mil travel front and rear and it uses a really clever linkage that Maxes carbon and titanium to pull this shot just SE here and really nicely you’ve got space for two full-size bottles clever stuff okay we’re on the trp booth here at eurobike 2024 and we’ve got probably the wildest bike I’ve seen in a long time I mean initially you just kind of like oh great it’s a 4X linkage that’s kind of normal then you look a bit closer and then potentially your brain will explode like mine has because this isn’t just a four bar linkage it’s a four bar linkage and then a four bar linkage for the saddle so effectively it’s not just a dropper post it’s a dropper well bike the whole bike can be changed so it’s not just a dropper post it’s a dropper well bike the whole upper assembly of the bike can SL snap down into place when you change the thumb leaper so opposed to just dropping the saddle you change the whole back end of the bike and the saddle and the upper section of the frame all disappear it also changes the geometry as well so it slackens the head angle a bit there’s a lot going on and it’s all incredibly well machined it’s it’s a real puzzle of a bike not everything at eurobike comes on big Jazzy stands some of it comes in really cool little suitcases and this kist Hub is probably one of the coolest hubs I’ve seen in a long time I mean they’ve got a whole range of hubs but this one in particular really pops it’s brand new hot off the machine well I say machine there’s a whole process to make it look amazing like this but this is a single speed one and yeah single speed is cool but now with things like the pinion gearbox you can have a multi-p speed bike with all the kind of Simplicity of a single speed rear hub I think this is going to be seen on a lot of bikes in the future this hub’s really nice because it uses a double ratchet system so it’s got twice the number of Engagement points compared to some of the other star ratchet systems out there it’s really really clever it uses two duel springs either side of a ratchet that look a little bit like a pine tree which is apparently where the name comes from it’s a really smart system STS is a story brand in mountain biking creating jub technology that we know and love they’re now broadening their horizons with a bigger range they’ve got some bike washes they’ve got some degreases and they’ve got lots of different oils so it’ be interesting to see how that develops so STS isn’t just innovating with degreasers and bike cleaners they’ve also re-engineered the humble valve um lots of interesting Tech and it’s sort of held together with lots of O-rings and a really nice machined brass inner so it’s great to see some more Brands Reinventing The Humble valve it’s not all new stuff here there’s great stuff here too like this Canyon sender of T Seagrave from Hardline earlier this year and it’s got the humble and trusty and well race winning Shimano St group set I do wonder when we’ll see the new Saint group set we’ve dived into the handmade section here at eurobike and we’re on the alutech stand well I say stand more booth and they’ve got a brand new bike it’s aluminium and it’s awesome it’s their new trail bike the pelmo 150 M of travel lots of intricate Machining loads of really nice details flip chips Here There and Everywhere and they’ve even got a limited edition bike which the owner and founder of the business has hand sanded and sand blasted down for this amazing finish it takes a day and a half for each frame to get this finished and that’s why the limited edition is only 10 so if you want one move fast okay on this limited edition there’s a lot of trick Parts too we’ve got in 10 Forks they’re brand new ones we’ve got the intend rear shock that’s brand new and then we’ve got these awesome carbon bars with this awesome little clamp on the back I’ve never seen them before I think it’s a small German round that are making them just lots of interesting Tech on this bike okay if you’re old mountain biker like me you might remember mellin DH tires back in the day well mellin have brought back lots more DH tires so yeah lots of new carcasses lots of new compounds they’re now folding bead and their subtle construction changes too they’ve got some new urro tires as well so previously they had a front and rear and now well they’ve still got the rear it’s been redesigned to be really fast rolling and they’ve got a new front which has got even more bite and mimics the dh22 in tread pattern it is a slightly different compound they’ve also got a dedicated e indurro rear tire but they do say that actually for for bike park for regular bikes it could be a really good option really Burly and really tough the other thing that caught my eye here on the mchan stand is this stunning paint job on this custom propane of Carson stor this is from Rampage a couple of years ago but mitchellan equipped great bike eurobike 2024 we’re here on the el2 booth now you might not have heard of this brand yet but I strongly think that you’re going to hear a lot of them in the future why well they’re producing some really interesting group sets at some really competitive prices including a really nice looking Wireless one haven’t yet played with it I’ve played with a road equivalent and it shifts really well so it’s going to be interesting to see how much more we see of this brand in the future on the Marin booth and we’ve spotted something very intriguing it’s a protype downhill bike from Marin and it’s Matt Jones’s bike that he used at Hardline so not the one he jumped over a house with alpine trail from Marin is a really interesting bike it’s got lots of little details that make it a really adaptable trail bike so it’s got flip chips on the Chain stay and on the seat stay so you can play around with running it as a mixed wheel size or play with geometry it’s also got adjustable headset cups too and pricing up to the most expensive one which is behind me which is about 55,000 but starting at 35,000 which I think for an aluminium bike that’s so adaptable is great another nice detail on an aluminium frame like this is the stash box in the D tube so you can stick your lunch in there or maybe more practically a tub and and mini pump or something like that but great feature we’re here on the D30 stand and they’ve got a new protection system well a new pad if you like it’s so new it’s not in any systems yet but it should be very soon it’s called Diablo and it’s about 25 to 30% lighter but with the same levels of protection it’s really really clever stuff Newton or well non- Newtonian things would be very proud of it D30 have got huge amount of experience in creating padded material which performs and it’s really lightweight one of their classic lines that’s been around for almost a decade is the Viper and they’ve got a new version called the Viper air and they’ve kind of tweak the geometry the material and protection is still that same fantastic outstanding protection but now it’s 15 to 20% lighter and a lot more breathable so you should yeah just forget you’re wearing a really good back protector we’re here on the Garmin stand here at eurobike 2024 we’ve got the brand new Edge 1050 it is absolutely packed with features from kind of like ride share details to more navigation to voice activation it is stacked with features as well of being stacked with lots of extra features it’s also got a huge screen so it’s not solar powered like the 1040 but it is so bright it’s really impressive I think for navigation a screen this big and this bright would be absolutely well just brilliant like it’s like having a map literally on your stem really impressive we’re on the pelli boo boo here and we’re looking at their new DH and injo race TI I say you they’ve been around a little bit but I don’t think they’ve got as much press as you might imagine for a tire brand like pelli who unlike a couple of other bigname tire brands actually make race tires for well Formula 1 cars and rally cars too and loads of that Tech gets transferred over to the downhill and all of the Bike Line interestingly they also make a lot of motocross tires so a lot of that knoow on carcass and construction and tire compound gets transferred over they look really good we’re here with SQ laabs and we’ve got some really cool signature Saddles so the first one is a bit of a surprise because it’s for push bikes but it’s got a spark plug on it what’s that all about well you might know of a guy who was a free ride MX Superstar Mike metzer this is his signature saddle so I didn’t know he’s now doing tattoos this is one of the tattoos he does a lot and he’s really into ebikes and Mar Viking so he’s got his own signature saddle other person has got a signature saddle a personal Legend of mine and has been on the dirt shed show and lots of emn and gmbn is H Ray Hans no way Ray he’s been on SK labs for a long time this is his signature saddle it’s using a really cool foam that you might have seen in some very big brands of running shoe it’s really clever cuz it’s really light and really useful damping property both Saddles are available in four sizes I was amazed by this but sqb said well yeah we’re a bit sorry about that normally our Saddles come in five or six sizes they really care about ergonomics here now for all of you out there thinking that Hans Ray is past it oh no he’s not past it and neither’s his saddle no this has got AI integrated in it yeah there’s a tiny chip that you can’t even feel but if you rub your phone over it it reveals a really fantastic app that gives you access to well weather updates Trail upat it’s being updated all the time I think for me it’s the first saddle that’s got Ai and obviously it’s going to be hray he’s out there pushing the boundaries we’re here on WTB stand and they’ve got a new tire which is very exciting WTB have made a lot of mountain bike tires all the way through the ages actually they designed some of the very first specialized tires so the first Mountain bik tires we’ve got this new one is all about cross country a modern 2.4 size it’s super light I think under 800 G for this Tam version here so it’s aimed at XE race it is a super light tire and speaking of super light Wilderness Trail have got some of these TPU tubes this one which goes up to a 29x 2.5 weighs just 80 g I’m I’m just stunned also comes in a nice Tam color too okay my head is spinning not just from that amazing black math bike that is a dropper bike not a Dro a post but from all the amazing Tech we’ve seen today obviously I’ve got my favorites but what are your your let us know and of course if you haven’t already subscribed do hit that button because it means we can make more great content like this

  1. Got to wonder with all this tech, flipchipery, squishy and shiny stuff… how does Owen keep up the enthusiasm to this level? Be honest is he coffee-powered? or does he just have a range extender?

  2. #askgmbntech – so that Hans Rey saddle is using Adidas Boost foam (or something that looks very much like Boost foam) and I am guessing it is an NFC chip, rather than AI? (it just pushes you to download an app rather than adding any additional metrics?).

  3. This year has been my favorite Euro-bike series! Owen has done a great job of presenting all the new cool tech! Now I’m wanting a Nicholai16, Clik valves, Pirelli Enduro race tires, Tubolito spares, and new light weight back & knee protectors! And there was lots more I loved, but might be out of my reach (Dangerholm & Evil bikes). Love how Owen presents all the details! He is fantastic!!!

  4. The Nucleon 16 going back in time with that main pivot point, even further forward than the old SC Bullit and Super 8! My guess is they designed out the issues the old bike had.

  5. sorry, why is 3d printed a nice feature? sounds a bit cheap to me? isn''t injection moulded far superior? or am i wrong?

  6. I’m looking for tech that will improve my lung capacity and reduce lactic acid without having to do any extra work 😅

  7. That 5 year old shoe needs to breath. Ive had 3 pairs and also have the sock version. I wear them in Canadien winters and don’t think weather proofing improves them.

  8. So the tranformer bike is a hard tail with 2 expensive spings under the saddle ,if the rear chainstays not moving or am i missing something😊

  9. Hold up for one second please. So it gives you weather updates when you swipe your phone over the saddle right? Can't your phone do that already? Like without any help?

  10. I've been an L-TWOO consumer over the years, their A7 Elite is a 10-speed groupset that can go to 50T and is thus a staple drivetrain of choice here in the Philippines.

  11. There's already a manufacturer making custom 3d printed saddles. Company is called Posedla, it's from Czechia. Made from Carbon + TPU.
