he [Music] what a day we had yesterday T nice bringing it home today a much lumpier Affair but only at the end of the day stage four destination San gardo and you’ve got to be hard I tell you to take it on can’t wait nice out stage winner and of course a new leader overall in Beto well this was the drag race to the line it was something exceptional betol yet again in the frame after an excellent time trial on the opening day means that he leads this race by 4 seconds Steve Williams dragging himself to the line maybe just a little bit of timing arrive for him but TBO P know in this land of the clock stopped it brilliantly with everyone else in his [Music] wake so betti old leads he is in the yellow Jersey will he hold on to it at the end of day or hand it maybe to a teammate he spoke to us ah no I’m not disappointed because uh I couldn’t do better uh I have to be honest tibon did a really really strong Sprint he I couldn’t pass him so he deserved to win and uh when it’s like this you can do anything you just have to say congrats and uh yeah try to improve uh better to to to beat him uh but again I take this yellow Jersey so I’m really really happy also because we work hard all day uh to make the race harder and this yellow Jersey it’s a it’s a really good results for for me especially for the team full of smartes yesterday um chance of him holding on to it today pretty slim but EF education have got eyes on going all the way and with Richard carass within the team they might just do it cycling hats have come on haven’t they uh about about leads the race it’s actually two seconds ahead of Ethan hater after adjustments yesterday sha almea the Portuguese of UA team Emirates is there so it’s fin Fisher Black Adam Yates in eighth place and it could be that they start thinking about sharing the spoils later on Steve Williams not to be discounted either but it’s high mountains day today so we’re looking further back down to the likes of Igan Bernal perhaps even Oscar Onley enri Mass you get the idea of what is in Stall today and there they are snowcapped mountains at the end of a busy day 17.9 kilm in total this stage four of the toris Swiss should we have some Mountains go on now starting off today at rush Lon by the lake absolutely beautiful and a highight pace I can tell you to the opening section of the day in fact we had a lot of breakaway attempts before it finally settled down that’s because we had the Albi pass straight out of the back door and then of course the race is on pass Wallen used to be the material used for cycling jerseys could have call them jumpers to be honest um yeah by the time we get to gotha that really is the intermediate Sprint and it’s from there really that the rest of the day is spent climbing they’ve broken it down into two categorized climb along the way but once we actually get to the valleys and start moving up through the passes just watch this it starts to narrow ever more as we come along the little lakelets that have been cut out of the terrain here and then suddenly it starts to get a little bit more focused in fact the last what 35 km are almost entirely climbing so strap yourselves in make sure you’ve not got anything hot next to you here’s your Sprint and it’s from there that we begin this Mountain’s Pass and look at it could well be in Shadow certainly a lot of snow yet unmelted at the top andat is the first phase or the midphase I should say just beyond it of the climb that’s where we get our first categorized test we’ll have a k 1 kilm from the line by the time we get to S gardo well you could go and fill your glass of scotch with crushed ice if you wanted to plenty of that about I can tell you at the line 13 Celsius at the top today that’s chilly there’s your profile ouch yo H can’t good to you back after the Juro tell us a bit uh how it has been physically mentally coming back from the Juro yeah for sure the days after were not too nice um and I also was really like suffering from uh from the lung infection like uh some days without B bike but also when I restarted I was a bit like I had shortness of breathing and not feeling good uh or powerful on the bike so it took quite some time to to come back uh and then also now in the race the first days I felt felt okay but uh not yet too fresh or you know too amazing uh but since yesterday my my legs are back there and also today I feel fresh and I yeah I really want to go for it today yeah was good timing then because we start the mon chapter what do we expect from today then uh it’s in the beginning it’s not too hard okay we have a start tle but then it’s it’s a bit more up and down and some flatter parts so let’s say I expect that still a lot of guys can can survive but still it’s a climb climb of 30ks uh on high altitude so it will be cold there so a lot will happen all right then thank you very much Ken success and I’ve got to say if it gets tactical um he could be there he often look strong in finals that you think maybe don’t suit Chan ere well let’s see how he goes today as you can see uh sunglasses time up here because of the reflected light thankfully dry hardly any wind there a little bit to is blowing that turbine for the pedants amongst you we’ll meet another one of that clan in a short while uh yeah they have been Racing for a couple of hours this was our departure point today Brian already been out to catch his breakfast I can tell you um trouble is the smoking machine didn’t fire up and it wasn’t a hack [Music] Albero in the leader jersey look at Jenny after yesterday in the Breakaway gets himself a mountains Jersey he owns that in fact all the jerseys are owned EV lamp is in the points Jersey the black Jersey looking very stealth might be a stealth pick for some of you today who knows Finn fer black leader of The Young Riders classification for U memores not the you’d notice because they kind of bury the Jersey within their own trade kit G getting us off and underway almost taking the nose off one of those on the front row with the flag this was at the dear fde and as you can see it’s been a bit rough out there that is butol our leader burgers for dinner oh my goodness it gets worse I think we need to spare him as embarrassment really but that is as shredded a pair of shorts that is still declared as intact as I think I’ve ever seen needs a kilt we’ll talk to Brian about that in a moment um the Albi pass third category for vik took it ahead of badti and yes let lenko and that shows you how Lively it was at the very beginning cuz they were gunning for it who’s going to be up there well I can tell you eight have made it and they’ve got 6 minutes and 50 and we’re heading to the climb might they make it Lake Yuri apparently despite what the the last name suggests um it’s very pure and in fact if you go Triathlon around here you can actually drink the water they do have at Lakeside the composition of the water um it’s a its mineral composition and um it’s deemed to be apparently so clean that you can basically dive in and just well fill your boots what your thrat yeah just enjoy drink there’s a lot of it won’t be missed 6 minutes and 40 well I know you’re already missing him I’m missing him too to be honest uh Brian Smith we’ve got ourselves a quality Breakaway up the road here and to be honest um it doesn’t look like the out andout um guaranteed nailed on kind of team that you’d expect to be up there if they are operating as a team as a breakaway but it’s got some great names for us to country with I think you just made eight eight um less Christmas cards at Christmas now um yeah I would I would tend to agree with you a couple of Raiders that can climb a little bit but I think what you’re alluding to is you know a lot of these riders that are in the Breakaway aren’t haven’t kind of shown much in the past when it comes to the kind of high mountains you could say Kaman TOs and train I wouldn’t discount s delay Yan summer but yeah you’re right um we’ve got eight good riders in the um the Breakaway today eight strong Riders that’s why we’ve got you know almost seven minutes um but there’s a big sting at the tail at the end it’s a tough tough final you know uphill for about 30 km okay you know varying climbs varying um uh degrees but a strong enough Breakaway certainly is took a long time to establish itself because it’s possibly with The High Ground still to come in this race three more climbing days up ahead of us it kind of suggests that if you are going to be part of a breakaway at least leave the killer zone until the very end so you can carry in a nice Gap to that point we have some quality Riders here that are going to take on gradiant of of 22% in places that’s what we’re talking about Michael Matthews uh we know all about him um we know how tough he is as well and we also know the freedom he’s got today to be in this Breakaway is something outstanding he’s possibly best choice but um I don’t know within their team I think this is a a good shot for them to get him up the road certainly make us talk about him won’t he uh toss and train for bar and Victorious their natural pick I think would have been V Po’s for today um I think po V po will actually be in the frame for one of the days stage one of this races stages I’m not sure if it’s it’s going to be today San diler uh who you have mentioned good GC Rider and he’s got a good mix of just about all talents that you could possibly want wanting a rider including time tring and that’s very useful in this kind of situation Yan Sumer is there at the back the 23y old he’s a TT man as well I think the Swiss is kind of here because the Swiss team just want to be caran and kypers now that is a very good combination um as you look at it a very very um oh was is it a shed I I know it’s a I know it’s a chap a chapel it’s hardly a bus is it but um Brian would know all about that if it was Kus yeah let’s just get back to them while you’re enjoying the scenes here a Bo stop then a bu stop could be well you never know they have them on the lakes here um yeah lilan caran now stage he took in the tour to France it was it was quite some time ago now um just stash and Theus that was a tough old day you know so of the Breakaway I think he’s the favorite I’m not quite sure whether this was the battle plan for them whether that essentially is our best chance getting the break and then get kajan up there kers will be of course doing his share of the work within the Breakaway to buy a kesan a little bit of time but Michael Matthews himself you know I’ve seen him get over some amazing Peaks known for Hills and one day races but you know he’s got a kick on him as well he’ll be a danger man that they want to shake out nobody’s going going to want to nurse Michael Matthews to the last is what I’m trying to say and all the teams that have missed out are a bit Fed Up about it because Q 365 doing the pacing here they tried really tried to get aspirin in the break didn’t work for them Tre they’d have like to have had somebody up there even as a drop back for mattius shos there’s nobody up there for them ARA they’ll be absolutely livid here’s the boat that’s going to stop to pick PR up from his um from his boat stop that he was just talking about paddle Steamers here are absolutely Lely by the way and a bit like in Italy um they serve dinner as well how lovely is that and how beautiful is this gosh it almost makes me want to reach for my wing suit um ke is uh a DNS today so it’s a shame that we are starting to assemble Riders who are no longer taking part this is um an interesting one there’s the old road as you can see near the face of the rock um and the newer bore on the inside that’s people call me sometimes um 6 minutes and 39 with 49.7 KM to go and bamma has abandoned I can only imagine that it is part of that crash that we had earlier on that has also scarred I’m afraid Alberto beol not quite sure what a hit he has taken but it looks like he went down on the seat of his pants which are no longer there um exposing a a couple of rump Stak I think it’s fair to stay hope he’s hope he’s okay it looks all right for the time being but that’ll be a sore night for him let’s see let enko also tried to get up the road earlier on today for AA the Kazakhstan Champion but did not make it this is Mara Schmidt just uh getting his way back in he knows that he’s got a Talisman up the road with Michael Matthews Roland Talman is also there for the Tuda Pro cycling team 30 old took a stageing the tour of alas a couple of years ago um and somebody else as well who can climb so Talman Kalan possibly our best up there but never discount the likes of Sil vanilia and indeed Michael Matthews himself if he’s motivated he seems that way first two hours here’s your average pace Etc and indeed your wattage delivered this is interesting because Richard carapaz is one of the favorites for today and he’s hiding himself nicely Brian and keeping his power where it needs to be within at the moment yes as we know Kaman uh this is the first two hours so you know the average there he’s been putting a lot of work in in the Breakaway caras just floating around in the Pelon um you know waiting for this final climb I think we have to say that you know yat ala kapash GMO potentially be now had the kind of favorites for today remember 2019 be now on winning the t s one up um at the s got pass so he’ll know there’s good memories from it and you know he is coming back into some some good form so we’ll wait we kind of pop that up for the final but 46 km AG go you would think in a normal stage 6 and 1/2 minutes would be enough but soon we’ll tell uphill and it’s uphill pretty much the the whole way to the the finishing line so these guys will lose a considerable amount of time quite interestingly enough at the front of the peleton q36.5 leadle Tre Mau star are all riding at the front M we start thinking of potentially Mass uh Leo with skelos who won it last year think it might be D Cruz for a q36.5 and I think um you know you got to remember they’re a Swiss team now that team so uh I think a little bit of pressure on trying to get a deliver but looking at um caras at the moment Caron and and looking at the the the um shorts of um our leader Beto he’s had a hard day today a mechanical bike change crash he’s had it all he has well I guess yesterday could have had it all if he won the stage came very close and of course had a fantastic time trial as well which is why he’s in the leaders jersey uh just looking at Stefan biger here man who can set a pace or two as well the Swiss heavily represented within this race and indeed every single day they have been in the break as well and it’s likewise today three of there with diler Talman and Yan s so strap yourselves in get yourself ready to roll and 18 I don’t understand this right the best place that where you get the the benefit is sitting on the bumper of the car right so B has come back sat on the bumper he’s getting the the most benefit car pass is getting less I just don’t understand why they do that nowadays when you saw that b was trying to move him up car pass went no it’s easier in the car and he swerved over towards the car it’s just they’re still doing it I just can’t get my head round it sit at the back of the pet and I wait to bring him up to the Ws the front but I think it’s a lot easier for a single Raider to go through the through the uh the car go to the GC on this week yeah yeah for sure um a good go and I’m in feel like I’m in reasonably good shape so it’s always hard to know you know you feel good in training sometimes you come to the race and you get smashed so at least I feel good and I feel like uh yeah I want to have a go and and we uh also two other guys Stevie and and M rello that can give it a go and you know there’s not big pressure for us to do the GC with teams like UAE and and stuff here so they need to control and and we can just try and benefit do we have somewhere in the mind for today the stage Victory or it’s more about the first test for the GC uh I think it’s a really good stage for Stevie again I think uh it’s it’s a long climb but it’s a relatively easy stage and um I think uh it could actually be even though it’s like uh you know 1500 me vertical in the in the final I still think we could have a group of like 20 guys coming in you know um just cuz there’s a lot the levels so high here and and there’s not really like the big accumulated fatigue you get from the other Mountain stages let’s say this is just uphill finish so we could have a big group coming in and and if that’s the case it’s a really good stage for Stevie see that then thank you very much Stevie Williams why not had a very good finish yesterday who’s um clearly got the bit between his teeth M wi Richard carass being guided back up here um erroneously so according to Brian Smith um 6 minutes and 36 if it’s still that margin Brian with um 25ks to go I’m going to believe in the Breakaway I’m I’m not um I really do think that the needs more than nuts it’s it’s a long long claim they’ve already ridden fast I think you know looking at the average speed today is 47.5 that’s not easy okay in can out rolling roads but soon as they had to climb the Raiders were talking about normally in this climb you think um Brian coar would lose what 15 20 minutes on a climb like this you know there are some decent enough climbers in there TOS in train I think cajan being two of them they are at 6 minutes and 18 seconds Kaman the best place of course is um uh Brian got at 102 but I’m not thinking on overall the Raiders that are riding at the front are thinking more of the stage one I think they’re going to need a little bit more time uh than this um because I reckon they’ll race quite fast up this climbing possibly you heard from George Bennett saying there would be 20 I think maybe less than that about 6 kilm to go before we Are Climbing proper it’ll be with the intermediate Sprint there’s a tiso Sprint I know some of you are actually chomping a bit to see who wins the watch today uh 6 minutes and 32 is the gap just been U pondering as to when that will be enough I’m just looking at the last 35 km which of course we’re approaching soon and within those 35 km 9 km of it is flat or downhill there’s a series of steps there’s a whole load of them I’ve just counted them and the There are 16 steps so whatever the pain is there there is rest bite not that far up ahead I think the toughest part is bang in the middle of that climb with about 17 kmet to go something like that um we just have a section it’s a very tight one on a hair pin of 22.8% but it only lasts for about 150 M um immediately after it there is a uh just before it there’s a little downhill by the way p um yeah shortly after it about 2 km there’s a place of rest bite um only 500 M then another one of about 400 m and then we have this big flat section it’s a plateau which is why we have two defined climbs today Category 2 which expires with about 13 kilm to go and a category one around about the flam Rouge but as soon as you’ve taken the first of those two climbs so the penultimate climb if you will there is a wide section of about 8 km of flat so put some power back in your legs why don’t you and then take on the final test now the final test itself to my mind is not as difficult as the first section of it so I think they’ve got the categorization of the climbs the wrong way round is what I’m trying to say so yeah the last kick fatigue will play a part but the maximum gradient again only for a short distance of about 400 m is 14% in fact there’s a very tight area just on one of the hair pins a switch back so it’s about 50 km 50 m only of 17.8% but you get the idea it it averages out and it’s about seven or eight in that last run uh George how are you first George again the uh good so far I mean yesterday was uh a good day for us as a team um I had a little accident in the final there and ended up at the back and lost a bit of time but it’s not disastrous you know um so lots of climbing to come and and I think like you know I think we can be happy with how we raced the first few days and and and I feel like for the GC guys we we start the race properly today and for you the go to the GC on this week yeah yeah for sure um it a good goal and I’m feel like I’m in reasonably good shape so it’s always hard to know you know you feel good in training sometimes you come to the race and you get smashed so at least I feel good and I feel like uh yeah I want to have a go and and we have uh also two other guys Stevie and and M Rell that can give it a go and you know there’s not big pressure for us to do the GC with teams like UAE and and stuff here so they need to control and and we can just try and benefit do we have somewhere in the mind for today the stage Victory or it’s more about the first St for the GC uh I think it’s a really good stage for Stevie again I think uh it’s it’s a long climb but it’s a relatively easy stage and um I think uh it could actually be that even though it’s like uh you know 1500 M vertical in the in the final I still think we could have a group of like 20 guys coming in you know um just cuz there’s a lot the level so high here and and there’s not really like the bigger cumulative fatigue you get from the other Mountain stages let’s say this is just uphill finish so we could have a big group coming in and and if that’s the case it’s a really good stage for Stevie see that then thank you very much George Bennett and antoan pan asking a questions so good we heard them twice uh 6 minutes and 35 with 37.7 it’s not budging no it’s not um there is a big test up ahead a series of steps and in fact some flat or downhill sections of around around 8 or 9 kilometers within the 35 that indeed we will have climbing so take your pick will they make it I think they’ve got a good chance the clock hasn’t budged just yet we’ll find out when we get into the first reaches of this test and I reckon with about 17 km to go that’s where it will either go loud or quiet as far as the Breakaway is concerned so anyway strap yourselves in Brian thinks they’re Doom doomed gone Fraser styly and I think that they might just make it one of us is going to win it’s probably going to be Brian cuz he usually does um lovely day though Brian um they’re spraying the water about so they’re hot was it’s 13 Celsius at the top or at least it was this morning and still a lot of snow melt up there um we could have a snowball fight if we were there yeah beautiful scenes the at the top um big walls of snow but you know down here in the valley it’s you know it is warm um you people whing a t-shirts at the side but the Riders are getting um kind of warmed up for this major climb up towards the the finishing line but the thing for me Caron um the reason why I think I’m not too sure they will be successful the GC teams part kind of little track but EF education easy po going of sitting back a little bit um I don’t think they too worried about the danger men are over 6 minutes down so it’s Even Stevens at the moment I’m not saying that Michael Matthews or Brian Kar can get up this this climb they are you know two riders that are just over a minute down in the general classification so for the GC guys they’re not too worried but I think Mau star and um q36.5 and and Leo raiding at the front it means to me that they want to to make this hard they want to kind of shake this up they want to going of try and win this stage when three teams are like that and they’re going to ride up this climb this this Gap will come down rather kind of quickly uh when we start climbing but let’s see what the other teams decide to do but no real threat in the general classification yes you say they’ve got a an opportunity but there are three teams riding at the front and if they continue to do this 6 and a half minutes might not be enough we’ll find out 250 minutes to the intermediate Sprint it’s not of much consequence to be honest but Matthews would like it anyway he PS off points as well yes of course with kokar up there and indeed well placed within the competition Matthew says well I’ll have some of these if they’re going begging coa’s on his case you know he’s been SP so sprightly can he close him no not this time good timing by Matthews no bonus seconds up for grabs here we wait for the tiso Sprint to come two quick men up the roads Michael Matthews hangs a leg here that’s that’s a suggestion of cramp to be honest he’s not doing a Valentino Rossy Koka rolling up to him and still in fact other signs of cramp being displayed here Brian yeah just kind of shaking out out the legs it’s been quite a warm day it’s been a really fast day as well um you know they are they are suffering but you know that’s the uh the outcome of the the Sprint on our screen matus Kar Kaman oh he’s not pacing on just for the time being so you Sprint’s dealt with and here they come so that means Michel Matthews is on 18 points um Brian coard is on 18 points both locked on the same points lampart started today in 12 leading this competition so I think the climbers will have the day at the top of the mountain um and there will be a separation between Matthews and and Kar uh on the I think the Sprints that they’ve won so or it’ll be in stage one so I think Kar could possibly have that black Jersey stage win You’ think you would but anyway 6 minutes and 34 just looking at this configuration of all of the train lines here um some train lines in Switzerland can take up ungodly gradients standard rail line there on the flat and some of the fics as well they can go well up mountains quite frankly Brian will train in the Breakaway toron good for him maybe he’ll give us a toot later on uh 34.7 km from home and it’s absolutely Rock Solid at the moment you know you can lean on teams but they themselves don’t take the burden lightly and Q3 65 here they’ve got Mr Bad milk haven’t they balilti as their hope I think Damen H is probably their best shot um for a day such as this but they missed the break they tried with Aspirin who you know gave himself a headache didn’t actually get in the break and it’s absolutely solid I I want to know how deep we get into this climb before it kicks off or will it might be one of those race within a race today more nice great stage win for yesterday looks strong Brian yeah he did you heard from BET didn’t we and he said well what can I say you know the the strongest man won in the end um he couldn’t he didn’t have the legs to get round and we know that bettio on in some good form he said a couple of days ago it’s all about the tour well he’s shown that he’s on form coming into the tour def France in this race alone two strong days um unfortunately been on the deck today hope he recovers um but you know not the best can of prep um for the uh for the tour but you have to say that he’s becoming a bit of a specialist at these uphill finishes he is shell M just stopping to um look like a bike change actually probably take a comfort break while he’s at it I should imagine um Matthews wins the intermediate Sprint the first of them and here’s your first climbing test coming up to about um 6 and a half seven 8% at the moment they will actually just take a a little descent down towards the 3 km uh 30 km marker so just come over this rise and then you’ll get the the idea of what we’re dealing with it’s much like this for the entire climb there are some steeper sections there are some much flatter sections as well so you kind of have a a view on it it’s a a road that’s built up to a ski area simple as that so it’s used to taking coach loads of people with very clumpy clunky boots all the way up to the top meanwhile TBO nice getting himself back in with Shellos and saying thank you very much to Tuda see see what he’s doing see come along side yeah side by side nice go alongside that’s where you get most of the shelter skore should know that he’s going to point and sit next to me there are there we are then well we said having a teammate around would uh put you in very good stead Brian and so it is yeah it looks like um you know breaking down of the the Breakaway now they’ve combined together and decided that um well it wasn’t fast enough so you know I’m going to put a lot bit more Pace in it so Kaman is the first Raider to attack well he’s done it as a young man at 12 bz um also circuit D sou and the like the cheese race as Shan calls it the par gamon Bear Went his way as well a few years ago but most notably the to of France up to stash Deus and that was a hell of a day for Kaman he’s quite a big man to be honest to be um full of climbing credentials but he has them and he’s gone off the front at the moment so this may well be uh something of a solo effort he’s hidden for much of the day as part of the Breakaway and he’s had that gift because of the teammate that’s been riding with him gerbon kyus so kajan has decided that this group needs to be thinned out and um he’s been joined in that regard by toron train also bridging over Talman says I don’t want to miss out on this either and it’s having a shedding effect there is I’m afraid Brian Kar off the back it looks like um Matthews May well have held on I’m just waiting to see indeed whether there’s a regathering but nonetheless eight turned to five Brian in rather quick order yeah it just means that the the pace wasn’t quick enough at the bottom um they were always going to to lose a little bit of time so you know that’s why you know the strongest guys have decided to go and saying strongest guys Branco car is still hanging in the back there fantastic he’s such a terrier um yes Michael Matthews just distance it was our Swiss friend Yan s kind of same color palette so might you you might forgive me from the helicopter shot yes I’m afraid Yan summer has been found out and um summer has turned to Winter for him uh six minutes and 21 it’s still holding but that’s to a now more select group up front six 22 and the winding has begun Brian it has it has and you know I’m pleased that to see Tor and train here if you remember um it was way back in 22 um after a doping control uh detected testicular cancer um so he was out of competition and came back in the crow race and was up there he was originally part of the Uno X team and kind of moved over to barin Victoria that’s the rider in the white and the light blue I think he for me is the kind of strongest climber of the group but good to see him back at the front of the pelor here’s a statement um Michael Matthews kicks on maybe he wants a tiso watch there is a tiso Sprint here today by the way uh separated by a kilometer so it’s h it’s two checkpoints essentially and uh the winner of it indeed gets a uh gets a tiso watch and indeed we’ve seen a few of those handed out to who mainly Swiss Riders it seems so far but Talman is still within that group here the wind blowing up now a Tailwind for much of the kleim brine which is going to help yeah it’s and you know it’s been a good fast day uh already today but they’ll have to wait at least 20 km for that watch prize anyway but you got to remember that Michael Matthews looks as if he’s on some good form he won a cracking stage of the uh Toy France from a break away getting over some climbs he did um this is that sort of flat downhill section I was telling you about that’s not being generated by the helicopter by the way that is the wind there we are um so yeah these are the rest bite zones that I’ve been telling you about this one goes on for uh for quite some time actually this is about uh just looking at it’s about 4 kilometers of descending essentially then they start picking up but again when you do get they they can be Rhythm Breakers Brian this this sort of rest bite when you’re within a climb but here over this kind of distance it’s actually about what 25 climbs in total if you divide them all up with the little downhill and flat sections a lot of the pure climbers don’t like this it can of you can’t get in the Rhythm uh cuz it’s going of up and down the whole way but you know we did have eight Riders we haven’t Lo we only lost a couple of riders right from the start of this um uphill um but looking at it further up of you know when I was coming up here here in the car coming up towards the um you know the the Press area at the top and we came up this this road this kind of Main Road and then there was kind of blocked off they don’t open it up to kind a general Road user so there’s a kind a main road that takes you up to way up to the gutar pass at the top where they kind of Lakers so I just stopped and said look I’m here with TV I’d like to kind of drive up it and they allowed me to do it and it’s on kind of Swiss cobbles I’m not cob is in a light manner of speaking but it’s such a beautiful whole climb in the in the middle of it and you know this when I saw it was on the the list this year I was quite kind of rather looking forward to it just look at the trees billowing here with the wind that’s assisting them they’ll be uh pleased or you’ll be pleased to know I guess on their behalf it means we might have a bit of pace about us today and these 30 km despite the gradients that we’re dealing with and the pace that now has been knocked back could be it’s a fast day over this here bet all he’s been over he’s been backside over elbow by the looks of things yes um he doesn’t look best pleased but why would you I hope they um I always think torn shorts such as that need to be kept almost a badge of honor good auction at the Braveheart if there’s ever another one just giving Brian some ideas uh 29.8 km to go just on the 6 minutes the Gap 30 seconds lost for the bit spinning jenny yesterday up the uh up the mountains won’t have that mountains Jersey I wouldn’t have thought by the end of today there’s a category 2 and a category one all rolled in together on what should to be honest just be an all category climb of 35 km in length but they’ve decided to divvy it up with Sprints Um mountains K and the rest of it sorry they went in the tunnel yeah Time Tunnel 6 minutes now and I don’t know whether the heart of the break has been broken um but there’s a lot of fresher much fresher legs back here there was a select group of teams that actually did much of the trace chasing to get us to this point and now the benefit of being within the pack has kind of disappeared just a little bit or eased I should say there’s not quite so much as plowing along a great garment more flatter area if you will uh keeping yourself out of the wind there and you can almost Freewheel here all of a sudden the kick up starts to have an impact the pace is really down the arrow assist diminishes just a little bit just ask Mr Jenny there we are he’s just going to enjoy the day quite frankly he woke up as king of the mountain and he’s going to enjoy it schmoker well he Wasing yesterday uh not going to be the same today six minutes and six is your Gap sort of holding station at the moment but um I feel like there’s a lot of ambition back here if you’re not going to win the race why not win a stage but as it stands some of the bigger names still find themselves within the pack for the moment will they keep it dry the powder for another day or so I’m not sure well we’re going to hear from those who might in a few moments time Len uh this is Lenny matinez before the to Swiss have you been you’ve been flying in the mer toour classic how are you yeah I feel good Sensations are where they need to be looking forward to this climb and uh see how the legs respond um what do you expect from uh this climb it’s long very hard well I don’t know we have to follow the main favorites and uh see if I have the legs to try something beautiful but uh tonight I’ll have the first sight of what I can achieve in the GC here even if there are a lot of stages still still remaining will you go for the GC or a stage win he says well for sure I’ll go for the GC I’ve got that in mind but uh if we get a stage win it’ be wonderful but um I’ll need to beat the favorites if I’m going to do that well how many riders will get together in the end you think honestly the course is not very hard before the climb um so we expect a large group I guess by the time that we uh by the time we get there which teams do you see controlling the [Music] race sure but uh very strong Team U with Adam Yates he looks very strong he does actually he looks incredibly smooth I would describe Adam Yates as being effectively um displaying a a lack of fluster he looks very like he’s riding well within himself Brian and that’s a good thing yeah he was up there towards the front yesterday trying to help out as well so it’s not a case of just a protected Rider um I think it’s some stage that they’ll do something I’ve got a few favorites and you know it be interesting to see how ala goes in that team um that kind of combination between yat and ala caras for me scale M definitely Bern was interest for me W in 20 19 up here so good memories um but I was just thinking why ride on the front and then knock it off when we come to the climb and q36.5 this is what I was talking about before Caron I was a we bit surprised that EF education easy Post in the pink they have got the leader um they’re thinking a car pass today they would be the team you know wanting to um you know do some damage but even M start of ritten on the flat and then decided no we’re not going to do it on the climb um they in the past have done a lot of raiding and get nothing from it in the end but q36.5 definitely interested in getting something from the the stage today well what have they got four on the front five on the front perhaps we’ll have a look in a moment as part of the chase um that’s fewer than we’ve got within this Breakaway group and at the moment they’re on one of these flatter sections I was telling about now with 26.7 kilometers to go uh the first K is going to be announced soon but basically to my mind this is all one from 35 km out um they’ve kind of divied it up but it’s all in a in essence the same Mountain Pass it’s just how where the road takes you simple as that b car’s got himself back on the only Rider missing I’m afraid is um from the from the Breakaway was Yan summer the from the Swiss national team so here we are they’re um they’ve got the band back together and at the moment they’re um setting the tune for the day even Michael Matthews himself just not wanting to miss out Bridges back over starting to think about who’s around him I think when Kaman went that was a big statement and it was a big test as well it wasn’t just to shake out Yan Su I think he was expecting to have more leeway it was the test of the strength of the Breakaway and the answer was there’s quite a lot of strength here Brian there is there’s still a little bit of strength I think um like the the you know rest of Europe especially in the UK summer hasn’t really arrived yet so maybe another day for for Yan summer um but you know these Riders are are riding strong enough uh on the kind of flatter stage I really thought at the bottom of that first incline when Kaman went for it the uh the break away we could pit but they’ve got themselves back together maybe someone’s had Award with a few of them going look come on uh we stand a chance here and uh we need to work together I think so uh possibly on the radios um calm down calan it’s probably a t-shirt 5 minutes and 54 and look at this all the work being do done by Q 365 Pro cycling um Damen hon good shout for them today but I don’t know um it looks like a a mad Mission because they’re essentially doing the work on behalf of riders who could leave them behind at any point by Design but there’s a few teams really kind of not interested in possibly chasing this Breakaway down they’re thinking of the the general classification battle but it does seem to me that q36.5 are the only team for the moment anyway M Star were interested um but they’ve not come up whether they’ll come up later on but for the moment they aren’t leaking too much time they did initially um but q36.5 for me I think are looking at this stage in particular they are 542 gosh that’s a beautiful sight isn’t it been up here in the past actually um skiing the vason church you get this um just this I guess a tough environment within which to thrive and that’s the I think that’s where Swiss engineuity comes from quite frankly I’m not just talking the whittling of cuckoo clocks no um you know they they have um made an amazing success of a very hostile land you you can’t grow much here quite frankly and before the tourism industry what did they do well they found ways to make money and one of which the reason why watch and clock making is so huge in these part of the world is literally it was a a task microengineering that you could do well under candle light I guess back in the day so yeah an a nation that um basically has declared itself neutral in many different many ways of course but um very active when it comes to self sustenance and they’ve found a way of existing in the world that has uh benefited their own Nation extraordinarily wealthy see that from the the infrastructure the way the the roads are they’ve done well considering the hand that they were played with geography 24.5 km from home five and a half minutes and you’re looking at our Breakaway today and if you’ve only just joined us what a breakaway it is um starting to wince and Willow I think winow that’s the word I was looking for Yan SoMo is part of the break away for the Swiss national team has gone back woods um he sits at about 502 possibly even more margin now by the way we Haven got a full clock on him um 5 and a half minutes though back to the peltin which has got a lot of Firepower within it is today when they want to let the guns go that’s the point and indeed the danger is of course if you uh if you round the pack you could actually be guiding somebody else into success that’s where we’re heading up towards the snow caps ski resort is our destination today and we Are Climbing though it doesn’t look exactly Alpine for the time being save for what lays uh shrouding us if you like curtaining the drama today yes we’re in the valley and we’re going to go straight up this Valley essentially and it does have its own Peaks and troughs as the waterfalls and pools will tell you almost the best way of seeing it to be honest and there is no real fracturing of the pelan nobody’s pushing on just yet because all the drive is being done by h365 Pro cycling wow they may well be working for Daman hon but just tucked in behind them teams with a great deal of opportunity um it looks like uat memores are moving up and this is Adam Yates Isaac del Toro they’ve got Finn Fisher black who might have some thoughts uh today as well but shout Al MAA ala or Yates one or T I think Adam Yates in this scenario would like to show what he’s got because he’s going to be on duty for others of course when it comes to the Tour of France as you well know at U memores but um yeah let’s see other moments just tucked in behind our EF education easy post and that’ll be for Richard carapaz who at altitude he did it in the um in romand uh super climbing there really displayed what we know he can deliver trouble is he he quite variable Brian Richard carass can have quiet days and then go very very loud I never quite know how to read him he’s an incredible Talent isn’t he um you know hard as Nails doesn’t give up and you know I think um you know he has to get a show today um whether he’ll be the attacking caras or the following caras we have to wait and see same could be said atan barau as well for any graders but yeah I think I said earlier on today that um y ala um both going to the tour uh this is a big opportunity to to win a race because they’ll be going to the tour to look after uh Pacha um skelos he’s had a big change you get back on he looks okay he want to defend his title today I think it’ll be interesting to see what happens going to further up this clim whether we see you know the big guns attacking whether they’re going to just be there and you got to remember with just over a kilometer to go kind of levels out a little bit before it just Rises towards the climb so with 1.8 to go that’s the final part of the climb great opportunity for for someone um to maybe go on the on the attack there um well you know the likes of caras can kind of sit there and and there’s a small group of 12 20 Raiders he can win from the kind of Sprint up to the finish so let’s see what happens but for the moment anyway they seem to be riding together it looks as if kers um for the inter Maria team has been doing a lot of work allowing liling Kaman towards the back he’s already attacked today I think he would do it again I think he will um let’s try and guess when that is likely to be the case um they’re on they’re coming to a plateau right now actually uh with around about 20 kilometers to go um yet another one of them this is where they’re about we’re about to announce really the the toughest part of the climb does have some rather spookily downhill sections within it as well so don’t blame us if that’s the case but 22.8 as a maximum will be they will be experiencing in let me work it out for you about 8 kilm time so tough indeed see a lot of tombs here as opposed to just headstones they’re sort of built in steps as you can see and the reason is there’s so much Rock here that um basically if you it’s it’s quite difficult unless youve got a jackhammer to bury anything quite frankly let alone you know aren’t mored so um so yeah hence tombs above ground or built into a series of steps so you like to know in case you’re planning retir to Switzerland rent to Jackhammer anyway five minutes is what we’re dealing with that’s the Gap and uh who’s dealing with it best M we start moving up into position enrik Mass Ana Rubio as well one or other usually one looking after the other um on occasion no Nero canana that’s a loss for them big time Big experience and um you know he’s coming into some decent enough form crashed out in stage two with uh given a broken hand uh whether it was scapula verus quite common but not in the race um Rubio great talent isn’t he um but enri Mass I think it be want to kind of test himself out as well ma star they’re up towards the front they did put one Rider on the [Music] front well um question is last finish of the gadoo was a different climb it was a very great Victory they came up with a different way by the way yeah it’s a great memory from 2019 he said but today is a different day we’re going to try and give it our best he says along the way just um hope that the differences aren’t too big how are you feelings it feel good previous stages uh but today is a top climb finish and uh and it’ll be a good test he says it’s a long climb um what do you expect a lot of things going to happen so long climb so some teams might be a bit conservative it’ll depend on everyone else’s feelings it’s a the first Mountain finish for a lot of riders for a long long time so Riders don’t really know how they will cope with this um as part of their um their training and their form it’ll be a surprise um is it possible to have Tom poock until the end yeah I think so he says um Tom is preparing himself to fight for GC in the tour to France so I think he needs a finish like this well he needs to be able to cope with them interesting he says there Brian that Riders will be finding themselves today testing themselves out because for many this is going to be the biggest competitive climb that they’ve had in the season so far yeah of course a lot of the the Riders go up these type of climbs and training um they go to a lot of altitude training camps and do it there but it’s a lot different doing it you know when they’re racing in a bunch of this size so I think coming here there there will be some question marks on who’s in F who isn’t uh of course with the the T France coming up everybody’s going there should be on kind a reasonably good form already at the moment uh we heard from Beto saying it was all about the tour and you know look how well he’s ridden in the last in a couple of days so there’ll be a lot of riders want to test themselves but testing themselves at the moment a q36.5 they are um IG Mell could be a good choice for today to be honest he’s been getting progressively better um in catalunia um yeah he was kind of approaching his best really I think it’s fair to say Brian and I called that race and he came home third um Li second best after t b Catcher And in romendy also impressive so it’s been a long road back for him Brian and you know there there are lots of stories of fortitude within cycling but Ean beral is is a very good chapter isn’t it yeah it’s what he wants um does he does he want to kind of rip it up here and and test himself out you got to remember there’s a this is a world tour race and dare I say it everybody’s going to looking at you know points tallies and various other things so you know I hope that doesn’t come into play I hope we see a you know a good race up here and you know a good battle attacking riding all the way up because it could be quite negative in the end of course there’s the inspiration if the Breakaway gets caught that you know a stage win is up for grabs for for the pel on but for the now the the the group are kind of hanging on out front they are 20 km to go they’re coming up to the steepest section in about 3 km time so it’ll be a very different complexion to the PACE that these guys are on at the moment on one of these steps that I’ve been telling you about and little bit of descent as well downhill running Adam Yates just uh fting for uh in fact uh declared as um I was I was going to say that’s that’s Hershey wrong graphic um uh Hershey the um Swiss Champion somebody writing in to me on Twitter and saying his name is hsky yeah he she yes I know but um you know cycle race not a lang language class but uh but but anyway yes M hery um there he is with the Swiss band across his his chest um Adam Yates uh still not part of that fanks to be honest but he’ll be there at the end you can be absolutely certain and indeed they uh just start to exchange good to see as well that D Cath and ag2r are getting interested here uh Perry Panter looked very very Lively yesterday and he’s the sort of squirly Rider who um quite frankly could have coped with the breakdown here Al now uh with the breakdown in the steps that we have here just looking for a uh a G here yonis Airi somebody else that’s on days some as a bit like this that you know he’s thrived in the past he’s gone quiet as yonis Ziri by his uh by his previous standards but he can get peaky in terms of form this is getting peaky as well here we are well our Breakaway um if it had an accord then it starting to fracture and Silvan diler said I’m just now going to change the tempo here he knows that he’s got the steepest part of this climb to come and if he can get over it you know he’s um had a stage with in the jir Italia in the past into ter uh Liu um that was a day that had the tough section right at the very beginning but nonetheless the Swiss on home ground here you never know you might just know his way around here certainly worth following as you can see and um again this is down to Kagan to try and bridge over after K has done so much work but it looks a bit second hand plops back down in the in the saddle so it’s three that find themselves off and up the front here toon train picks it up with San diler now and uh indeed Talman of uh chuda Pro cycling there’s um Kar with Michael Matthews indeed the aforementioned kypers who did a lot of work for that man kesan is in no man’s land at the moment 18.8 if they can get over this very steep section I think they might just believe but they’re going to need a gap of uh I’d say probably around near a five minutes as Brian kukar just bridges over here or tries to do so showing his metal Brian kukar real renaissance man at the moment it’s amazing what a pro win can do for you super work It’s a Grind [Applause] 18.6 km left of this stage four of the tour of Switzerland the first of four back to back to back to back uh climbing days stages four five six and seven of the eight really tough and indeed this is a grind they’ve been climbing since 35 km out we’ve now have 18.4 remaining had a quality Breakaway group of uh eight Riders which is thinned down it’s having a big impact on those further back down the mountain that’s the gretto mark cavish saying that he’s here in Switzerland to make sure he can get through mountains ahead of the tour to France of course that’s where he will want to shine brightly but this race has started to take plenty of prisoners and I’ve got to tell you that um beol we thought might be one of those took himself a tumble earlier on today went uh backside over over collarbones I think it’s fair to say he’s still intact but his kit is not and Beto um well after some very very strong performan is right now he’s displaying a couple of rump Stakes as you can see discomfort for him but he’s ridden on very bravely as he is the leader of this race it’ll be for Richard carop as their team are riding in fact I haven’t seen the yellow Jersey for quite some time he is still riding meanwhile you get back out front we have Sil van dilia TOs and train Ron Talman uh this is upos into kernick barwing Victorious and of course Tuda Pro cycling chasing on to try and get back to them is lyan cjan who looked like the best bet from the Breakaway you can see him he’ll just emerge from the tunnel fairly shortly Brown Kar up here as well as Michael Matthews they were busy contesting the intermediate Sprints Matthews beating kokar and uh we’ll see they level on points now in the points Jersey competition but kokar having been a stage winner will probably be in the black Jersey tomorrow kit um was the helper for Kaman who tried to attack this group and failed to do so leaving three off and up the road it was silan diler who’s gone for it first here in the D denim of Alps in De kerik along with tosson train of baring Victorious is on the nose of this Trio at the moment and Talman well it’s very terrain today um first of mountain days as declared however it’s a series of steps that they’ve got to get through and deal with they’re actually dealt with the steepest section so far 7 and a half actually near 9 km of um descending or flat within in a a series of 16 steps by the way within this climb and so you you kind of have to go deep in order to make it to the next flat section and they’ve got one coming up reasonably soon uh there’ll be a short almost a Kida flat and then they go through those what look like lass a here and then there’s a really long reach of flat in about 3 kilm time which will extend over five or six kilometers they can refine themselves we might get Brian Kar who’s looking very sprightly Michael Matthews maybe just thinking about regathering with it within that group but the gaps are starting to tell now as you come at the shuran Gorge here and it is absolutely gorgeous they’re riding in the shade so the temperatures are tumbling it’s 13 Celsius in the shade at the top and when we get there there will be snow uh Brian Smith enjoyed himself a a selfmade um smoothie at the top that he created a couple of years ago when he was here on site he’s with us as well today it’s been dramatic so far Brian still waiting for oh and start to fracture at the front still waiting for um a big move from the pelan aren’t we 420 the Gap yeah it’s going to be Tempo the whole way up here just about to say that s Dilly was on his limit Talman is getting close to his limit I think toson train for bar and Victorious he probably is the strongest I don’t think it’ll be long until we see toron train potentially on his own because he’ll be thinking four minutes inside the last 17 kilometers he stands a chance but I think for the moment anyway they’re using this a little bit for kind of tail Tailwind up the Shen in Gorge and um you know the group gretto is already started Mark Cavendish is there um the pelaton are still bunched up I think it’s still q36.5 riding on the front but we’ve seen nothing of the other teams yet no we haven’t and it’s a surprise EF education very close to the front with Richard carapaz their main card to play today possibly with yor steinhauser as well but uh it it should be car pass um Betty well his tumble spoke volumes this is Biser who was part of the engine room to keep them up towards the front he has his Services now required later in the race but um it looks like he has now emptied the tank as part of his his help out as far as visma Lisa biker concerned they’ve got wilker kelderman Johannes St M and Yan Shan utre haven’t seen much of them to be honest today and that’s a good thing defending champion mattius shelmor after Victory yesterday for TBO nice there cocka hoop at little track but he’s got big company Adam Yates Shia Alida Isaac Del Toro for U memat super strong outfit hard to look Beyond in grenadiers with Iger manal and Tom pitock Len Martinez for group Arma Francis we’ve seen him today says he wants to test himself apart from anything else and showed some wisdom when he said that ryers quite frankly don’t know how this this day is going to pan out in ter in personal terms as far as their form is concerned it might just take somebody that’s been very Anonymous today to burst out of it Alexi lenko has been very quiet today for as Kazakhstan in fact through this race so will he go loud today Valentine Perry P has been the exact opposite he been extremely spritely but um and it might be that kind of day today despite the fact that it’s a long long drag it does have this series of steps within it to reather yourself and then go again you can’t set a rhythm Brian and that can knock a few of the big mountains boys back and they might actually just decide to wait for other days yeah that Luke said he was in control of this you know I think he he thinks he’s in with a Chance TOS in train Talman a different story you know gritting the teeth open mouth and I think ton trainer just going up biting his time and and may go solo soon but not the hardest of claims you might Brian Kar might have another um theory on this um same with Michael Matthews but not the longest stage either but it’s it’s just one of these things when you come off a long day of riding quite fast uh it’s going of dipped under 46 km an hour it was over near enough 47 km an hour and when it gets to there um I mean you’ve been riding in the Big Ring all day and then you go into kind a small ring that’s where it starts to kind of feel really really tough and heavy but 15 km ago two Riders still with 407 I think train is the only ride I think it could possibly survive let’s see what’s happening at the front of the peleton it still looks a little bit kind of bunched up we did have q36.5 at the front they’re still there um EF education also coming up in on the right hand side so but there was a little bit more Pace about it earlier on it seems to have been kind of Knocked back at the moment betti all here on Wheel two within his own team in the pink of Air fertigation Easy post and uh it looks like the Pistons are just starting to pop for Q3 65 they’ve done a lot of good work that’s U Emirates and of course the the bare eyes often isues his his specs here um Adam Yates just wants to get himself a good bit of vision whole line of IND grenadiers riders with Tom Pitcock within and Igan Bernal of course pitcock or Bernal would you say for inios today despite the fact that Bernell said pitcock yeah he said Pitcock maybe he’s kind of trying to kind of build up to to looking at toy France and the general classification and you know this is going to be a good test for him it was interesting that you know a couple of years ago when he won that stage absolutely magnificent and then last year I don’t think he enjoyed it so much um looking at the general classification but I still think Bernal could be um you know the best of the the N gr today think so uh Ambitions for M star with enrik mass and AA Rubio when you’re hearing these names you realize just what a big deal this tour of Switzerland is this there is U mem they’ve got so many cards to play I’m not quite sure whether they’ll um they’ll bust the flush let’s see suddenly a change of pace and look at the clock it’s dipped under four minutes for the first time in a long time and 15 kmet to go problem for the pack is um if if they’re looking for a stage win today is that we’ve got a determined couple of riders up front and they’re just about to hit the plateau and in fact they’ve only got um about 1,800 M to go before they actually have quite a bit of rest bite I think about 7 kilomet possibly uh yeah around that around that marker of flat it’s where we have our um our intermediate um Sprints the tiso Sprints along the way that’s Ryan Tar just uh bouncing in areas here there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of urgency within the peltin r it’s kind of bunched up I was just getting a message there that uh Ray kosa and Alexi lucenko were in difficulty at the back of the pill can’t quite see them yet but yeah it was Q 36.5 but theyve used up a lot of Team they’ve still got Daman hon looking after David de Cruz I think he’s their man for today uh towards the front but nobody taking it on for the moment anyway everybody just kind of being a little bit patient of course course many big climbing days yet to come I think that’s the point and there’s no threat to the overall best placees Brian Kar I think he’ll be tagged um yeah with just under four minutes now 17 minutes train is down deficit for torsson train 17 minutes and 2 seconds ronand Thalman who’s up front as well 11 minutes and 18 a suspicion that we might get a race within a race if those two do manage to push on which they’re doing at the moment haven’t had too many pictures from up front for a little while there’s plenty of tunnels indeed to bevil is here as we try and bring you the coverage as best we can Swiss television extraordinarily Adept at delivering this sort of thing as you’d imagine had the pleasure of being on site for the tour of ROM over the last three or four years and it’s it’s a lovely lovely part of the world I have to say it does have its own pecul peculiarities that is for sure um meanwhile here we are with Talman turning himself inside out and toron train for baring victorious in the white here uh looks over at the camera I don’t know whether that was a thumbs up or go away depends he used I guess yeah he’s in control he’s he’s looking around he he knows he’s got an opportunity of a did I say it probably the biggest win of his his career um he’s got Talman for company he doesn’t look as smooth um still a few difficult kilometers to go but they are in with a chance and still think that U you know for the the peleton they’ve yet to really ignite in this clim well neither of these two are a threat for the title and with climbing days still to come this might well just be an entree really into The High Ground and certainly as far as um uh training schedules are concerned they will have taken on mountains like this but not at indeed competition Pace that’s what you’re seeing right now here’s Michael Matthews just trailing Brien Kar who’s determinedly still out of the sadland stamping on those pedals doing a fantastic job ran Kar been a delight to watch him actually in this sort of Renaissance period of his of his career meanwhile out front Json train knows possibly instinctively but he might well have just looked at the map properly uh that he’s going to come out from underneath this tunnel and it’s going to be flat so reather yourselves and then one final kick on it could be an absolute glorious finish for him well I said I thought the Breakaway might make it today but with 13.5 km of pretty tough climbing still remaining a kick out of the pelan could still kill this off but it’s looking better and better for this du up front BR it’s better that um the the teams that were riding initially I’m going to knock back so it’s the GC teams and like you’ve just already mentioned there’s no real threat in the general classification um train at 17 minutes to minute at 11 minutes so the GC teams will consider the next few days whether they want to go for the stage or not that’s the question we know that 2 36.5 do potentially M Star do but do anybody else want to go for the stage that’s really going to determine whether these guys stay away or not just P Santa’s Golf Putters just under 4 minutes remain two up the road Ro uh San gardo is our destination we haven’t got long to go we’re on a flat section and in fact this gets um I almost said increasingly flat like folded water in Sil waves don’t know where my brain’s going at the moment on holiday I think um yeah we’ve uh we’ve got a uh a flat section which will introduce us to the last phase of this climb if you take that this climb is actually 35 km in length um Michael matthew has got back to Brian Kar and just said see you they’ they’ve kind of got their own little Skirmish going on at the moment they’re testing each other there’ll be handshakes at the end of the day but at the moment they’re best of enemies let’s wait and see your training yeah exactly fantastic um they’re going to come up to this um there is a Sprint which is being announced here this is the uh tiso Sprint um and the mountains K here I beg your pardon and then we got the tiso Sprint which lays just ahead of them on this flat section that’s the um Category 2 test that we had but it’s all part of the same climb to me there you go um so we have a flattish section coming up right now and then a kicked for the line I still think the breakaways got this chance Prime yeah they do um it really depends on who wants to win the stage or you just want to kind of hold back and you know look at each other and for this uh for the GC like I said just before there’s a lot of climbing yet to come um initially when they were in the valley heading towards the climb there’s a few teams interested but they seem to kind of knock that off Gap holding now so they have got a chance now I didn’t think they would have thought they would have going to RAC it all the way up but I’m just enjoying this battle between the sprinters Matthews and Koka but 11.8 is the TSO Sprints let’s see what uh Talman and um train do here they are now this is that flat Valley section I was telling you about um it’s not even a false flat it’s just flat there you go and they’re going to sort of zip around this flood plane area they’ll be past a lake which you can’t help but pass in these part of the worlds they’ve got a little bit of a pace on now let’s see if it’s being matched by those who are driving on the pelan whenever you look at the pelan always look at who’s doing much of the work on the front because if there’s only two guys it’s two versus two it’s just the uh the two behind them are leading on a whole load of other people but basically the Gap can stay solid if there’s no exchange of Duty behind here comes the first of our tiso Sprints Brian not far apart no AR this is the first one so uh train taking it from uh Talman but I think Talman may take the next one and that means he’ll win the watch o there you go keeping it Swiss he is he wants to get on the podium at the end of the day I’ve got a feeling that uh it might well be that train lets him have it let’s have a look how much do you want to tiso watch quite a lot they’ve been battling hard for it that’s uh third place over the line for Silvan diler we’ll be thinking Shucks I would have like one of those does he go for the crocodile band or the um oh Train’s got it a train he is he’s on the wrong track because the train lines to the right well let’s see let’s see which one he goes for he’s probably just said to um t look you can have the watch just work hard no he’s already won it he’s he woned both Sprints there um so came quick succession so I know I was saying he’ll offer him the gift once he’s collected off the podium if he works with him yes so train will be awarded the tiso watch at the end of today 12 km to go and they’ve still got a margin of 3 minutes and 41 I think they can do this Brian they’ve there’s a um there are two mini sections within hairpins one’s 14% one’s 177% but most of it is around 7% in the run for home and don’t forget we’ got a downhill run to the line at the end that actually comes with about uh 2 kilometers to go maybe about 1800 M um so it’s a task that I think they’re equal to let’s see um couple of steps to reach out for they’re going to run out of those steps though reasonably soon it’s going to feel like that and we’re in about 1,200 M time they got another steep section of 14% can they hang on that’s the question 3 minutes and 48 it looks like they might getting a little bit more likely now um by the sounds of things um this Gap not coming down quick enough now um we’ve not really going of seen the front of the peleton to see if anybody is interested in stage one by the looks of things in that time Gap possibly not um thinking of maybe the days to come maybe potentially kind of looking at each other not willing to to engage in this climb so 10 km to go a very healthy Advantage I think if it was under three minutes then it would be still a little bit kind of touch and go but I think they they have to start believing especially TOs and train well here comes business friendly Bahrain it says on the C well could he do the business today yes he says and Elsa says see you well that was um there you go stuck up with this bottle here’s a few gels for your back pocket away you go and he does that is amazing he’s got a car to service him as well and this will be a big gap and there a big a big reach here Brian and considering his history this is going to be a great day an emotional one yeah definitely an emotional one I mentioned it 2022 after ad doing control uh he got diagnosed with t cancer he was riding Uno X there was forced into um stepping off the bike came back in the crow race and and now he finds himself in a world tour race with um 10 km to go and very much the stronger of the two you could see that when they were riding and just the glances to the camera and uh now deciding to go alone and um which looks to be like um a potential famous victory for him I would love this to be the case Q3 five will be kicking themselves they tried to get in the break away in the many incarnations of the breaks with um Mel asperin didn’t quite work out for them needing more than an aspirin I think is our leader here Alberto bettiol still very much um up towards the front issuing spittle there Richard caras they’ve got opportunities today but I don’t know whether they’ll be able to take them for the stage win might find some gaps in the GC yeah GC battle behind toston train why not let’s see if indeed that is our story today 9.4 km to go uh for the Breakaway 3 minutes further down and indeed still with some tough sections to take are the peltin they’ve written within themselves no real threat from those up the road waiting for a Time on Brian Kar actually cuz he was only a minute and one down at the beginning of the day Michael Matthews a minute 27 they were part of the Breakaway bit of a stretch here for um uh Y Man Finn Fisher black you know he’s such a strong Rider he’s he’s quick he’s good in this kind of terrain as well looks like he’s just doing a bit of palatus why not um they’ve got many options today isak Del Toro sha almea and of course Adam Yates it doesn’t look like they’re going to if they measure themselves it will be against other GC contenders within this group by the looks of things Brian it’s now 348 yeah indeed I I was just wondering why M st came up in the in the valley um started to ride and then they’ve not done anything at all uh q36.5 are the only team that’s tried to win the stage and it’s not been enough um there was other teams possibly thinking about it but now I think definitely thinking about another day rather than today the Gap I think for me is a little bit too big Now train is on a train he’s already um you know got that kind of King of the mountains he has to continue to get that stage wi so it could be a a very good day for the Norwegian I’d love it to be so well I rather cheekily suggested you’d M Star Road up to see the view but you can understand why it’s absolutely spectacular probably best job in this race is um West cam operator I imagine yeah absolutely phenomenal train takes the uh Sprint ahead of tman and Dila in fact that could well be our one two three today there we are the um second Sprint train again gets himself a tisso watch this is the uh tiso Sprint that we have as sponsored uh lots of twist and turns Mountaintop finish to come it’s there’s actually a downhill run of about a couple of kilometers at the very end um so yeah we’ll see only 6 and a half K to go before tson train can do that you might be thinking about all different kinds of ways of celebrating and the attrition rate goes on that’s steinhouse just off the back few others as well have a starting to suffer Damen houseon actually I thought they might be riding for him for Q 365 didn’t happen uh one1 well they’re in R Ron which is the torture room wasn’t it seems that way um a lot of riders still finding their legs by and it seems like an odd thing to say this deep into the season but it’s true um you have to get your form right at the right time and they may well will find it wiin the tour of Switzerland over the next 3 or 4 days some Riders getting dropped now so someone’s gone to the front and up the pace a little bit now uh this is the reason why these Raiders are getting dropped I tell you what TOs and not only getting himself a watch King of the mountains stage one it’s it’s been the best day ever um and he still looks really really comfortable he does well to my mind he’s got this he hasn’t struggled so far and so he’s done the hardest part of this climb which was um about the Midway section of the with about 17 kilm to go I’m sorry to talk about it in as one but uh to be honest it’s a 35 km climb with a Sprint in the middle of it it’s as simple as that despite the fact we had a k point before that flat Sprint section R Koka happy boy at the moment and no surprise forms come to him beautifully he’s back in the pack he’ll get congratulations from his team or be it breathlessly so but he looks happy enough py pants will feel like he’s missed out today I think for da Cath ag2r and they will feel like they’ve missed out as a as a team but you know what the best man on the day picked the correct Breakaway to go for it and he’s put himself in the bird seat here everyone else is out of view at the moment Brian that’s how dominant he is you can just see one man Talman here we go this is a bid by those who would showing that perhaps they could maybe on another day let’s see um let’s see whether this turns into a mountain Sprint it’s it’s one of those things Felix G um was determined to prove something within this race and he’s seen Perry pantra get spritely he’s decided to do so himself got a bit of company but looking further back there’s shelmor just on the front of that group as well they’re starting to think about separating themselves from the other GC favorites and putting in a bid for this title Brian yeah a little bit too late for the uh for the stage um but at the end of the day Phish G was one of the riders that you know was interviewed at the start of the stage today and he isn’t quite at the same level as he was at this time last year he’s kind of building up nicely for the the TDE France he has got Rodriguez with him by the looks of things um and that is Leal track starting to kind of wind things up so a little bit too late now for the stage one but just look as if we are going to see this um two races in one y um train I think is uh has not got too many troubles um shmor steps out of the saddle the Danish Champion defending Champion here and indeed uh just drags himself up Igan Bernell very close at hand can’t see Tom pitock there he is just down the bottom left of your screen I believe um hard to tell from that distance uh meanwhile this man looks well smooth as yeah he does doesn’t he there’s per knew it wouldn’t be long before uh we watched Pere dry there he is he’s digging in for this one well is he going to be a heartbreaker I don’t think so with 7 km left and three k three minutes to make up but he might be making a bit of a statement overall um just have a look for you in a few moments time where he where he sits in the overall ranking uh but Perry pantra has been he’s been one of those guys who’s constantly made us talk about him Brian um just not at the end no well he a magnificent um jro dialo with that that stage when he you know equaling his brother but you know it looks as if the kathin team really want to can up ignite this they were the team that came to the front after q36.5 uh we’re leading pretty much all the all the climb there but the end of the day is too late the the stage one is gone because you got to remember the last at 1800 M are are pretty flattish down hill actually yeah flat and then can Rises up towards the Finish just under 2% um so but I think what we’re trying to see now is the um you know who’s going to come out to play for the for the GC Raiders now well Del T’s coming up getting himself into position which is always nice to see and uh as if not to be uh not to miss out few others want to make him oh Touch of wheels and uh down shows how fatiguing this day has been to be honest um I’m hoping that they both get up okay it’s just extricating themselves from the wreckage and indeed just about do so was it uh alamat is here just tucked in as you can see have your right to attack let’s have a look at this again Bri see what you can tell for us yeah it seems to be quite near the front just a movement there that’s say Kerman for um see who the other Rider there for UE was could be T Toro was yeah but yeah and it’s a case of the their bikes get stuck together and they couldn’t get them apart well every second you spend doing that is one you got to find in the mountains a little bit later on Del Toro cut to bits by that um it was just moving up as well as i’ spotted him getting into position um not a nice thing he would have drifted back in now finds himself in a little secondary group but it’s all kicking off and everyone’s got every right to go for this uh that is Lenny matinez just trying to drift over for group armor Francis bridge to the front group he’s out of the saddle now and goes for it hugging the wall this man who should bring it home uh you can just see where the finish line is beckoning and in fact he will have a k mountains points again for him minute and 26 back to the uh uh the remnants of the break Talman a little closer than that I think uh but no clock on him at the moment and 3 minutes back to the peltin that start to fracture with Perry P getting [Applause] animated well a little bit of check around the corner here he’s dealt with the most serious part of this Final Phase it’s a question bringing in if he possibly can Perry P 41 seconds down by the way so um difficult for him to make in mode as we speak this man part of the break I actually thought that he may well be one of the strongest still in diler certainly thought that of Kaman which it didn’t happen um lot of assist from the wind today it’s been a Tailwind uh straight up this Valley as opposed to coming the other way down which would have been a bit of a nightmare magnifying the the problems that they face here but torsson train is getting to that um U lovely section right now where suddenly as C joh is now reabsorbed um just having a look how far out he is 5.5 km so he’s got the last little steep section uh he’s hitting in a short while he may well have bridged it I think it’s about here however uh still about in about 700 M time he’s got a nasty hairpin with 7 point 17.8% as a declared percentage orbe it very modest and here we go iy can’t help himself arus sport bring ears the pictures there are hosts today and he’s getting all the plot it’s a lot of Del Toro Flags out I noticed and this is Alberto bettiol he’s going to have a com uncomfortable night’s sleep he can’t sleep on his left he can’t sleep on his right he can’t sleep on his back I feel he’ll be sleeping on his front BR yeah I don’t mind up but um at the end of the day it will be uncomfortable because as everybody knows you can I move around uh in your sleep so it will be uncomfortable for for the next few days but yeah seems steady at the moment at the front of the Paton um q36.5 we’ve got badil Lati in third place there Adam yats in second place there but everybody’s just I think content and not getting involved in a a GC battle today um hit Co is showing himself by the wall um also um what polls I think you’re going to get a a really good po in performance during this race possibly not today but um you know he’s he’s one of those guys that just pulls it out the bag occasionally and um I always love watching him he’s been in the service of others for such a long time in his career and it’s nice for him to come here with um both he and Daman Caruso with a chance I think PA will probably get a free card but um not now it’s good to have PS up here because it shows the depth of this snow thank you you were chomping at the bit there I could tell you wanted to get in and I was thinking right I better let him because he’s got something vital to say and in the end it was a gag um Adam Yates just tucked in here on the back wheel of Del Toro just taking a tumble also here is sh MAA those three on the front they could have won this they may well do in a certain sense um indeed if they push on and snaffle the Jersey let’s wait and see uh they’re extremely well positioned for the time being 4.8 km to go which means that um our man up front oh there is betol that’s a sad sight for the yellow Jersey there sort of torn up more than just a little bit and wico kelderman I’m afraid he’s been Fried by the day as well drifts over to try and get some rest B in the cars so looks like he’s heading for the side of the road actually I’m not quite sure why just the shortest line through uh there is uh the most difficult section of the climb has been dealt with by Yaman up front while betal um will be handing over that Leader’s Jersey at the end of the day tosson train pushes on there will be a battle for that Jersey and it looks like um first claim to it has been posted here by the strongest team in this race UE team Emirates which one of them though Brian is going to be Adam Yates I think so I think so for me he taken them to about 5 km a go to actually kind of come to the front and put put the pressure on can of test themselves out um you know they’re just going of sitting back if if they were the one of the teams that came a little bit earlier on we could be looking at a different situation but 239 for the leader still looking good for him and it’s it won’t be long until we’re going of over the top of this clim toron train has nearly got there this is a fabulous performance by him and with such a wonderful backstory as well um he’s been through real trials and tribulations and this is going to be an emotional one um it’ll be very interesting to hear him interviewed at the end of today there’ll be uh acknowledgements and fting of others because he’s a very modest man but deep down he’s also a viking let’s not forget and he’s riding like one today brilliant work to get himself into the right Break by the Norwegian and he’s still digging in still not comfortable as you’d expect sharp Shadows though as he comes past the snow ice cool he has been throughout and he still holds 2 and a half minutes on the Pelin with 4 kilm to go last little grippy section for him to deal with is just about to be Unwound and then it starts to smooth out just a little bit he’s into the hoed section already Brian good on him yeah still a bit to go 4 km it does get a little bit level now but that was a setup there um and Adam y going for it Oscar onlyy follows Felix go can’t enri Mass can’t so this is a show of strength now who can match him nobody for the moment any it alam8 in control of his Destiny and it looks like he he’s destined to take control of this race won’t win the stage but he will certainly remind us just what a classy Rider he is and uh indeed he’s going to bring it home here’s that Cobble section that we were telling you about the clinkers um it’s because it’s an easier repaired road with all the snow belt and the ice with expansion blocks or gaps built into it uh just in case you were wondering so yeah um you get a rough section you just replace the uh Cobble cut in hard labor and it’s kind of fell that way hasn’t it for much of the pelan today as vanen Brook just going backwards today as Kerman refines his Mojo but look at Adam Yates and the way he’s playing with us today he’s on a roll Brian and um this is going to be a big statement for the rest of this race it’s also going to be a big gap by the looks of things yeah left it late didn’t he um they came up with just under 5 km ago to kind of set Adam up they just relying on other team is doing what they they wanted to do by the looks of things it wasn’t about the the stage one it’s just about you know the GC battle sh MOS he has to watch himself here because you know he’s been lent on he is last year’s winner and and everybody knows that and they’re kind of leaning on them but there’s a few riders in here um that you know kind of have to ride because Adam Yates is disappearing up the road still a few days to go so you don’t want to be kind of losing out too much time to to Adam us today and um I was lucky enough to be a a man earlier this year playing away and uh Adam Yates was absolutely outstanding on the Green Mountain he just it has that ability to turn it on looks so smooth almost looks like he’s not really turning himself inside out amazing first win of the year was oh man on Valentine’s Day actually uh 14th of February and and anim8 looked absolutely wonderful I must say in love with cycling on that auspicious day he he absolutely blew the field apart and um looking back down here who’s going to get close Oscar onley’s trying to do something but look at who he’s Left Behind Brian in the in what seems to be the smoothest easiest way well I said scale M would be was been lent upon there but soon as he swung off nobody wants to take it up um and Oscar only thought well we have to do it we cannot just let him gain time easily here so he went to the front out to brookses there there’s only about eight Riders um this man is going to hold on what a valiant stage when it has been for him not just the stage sh says right um if none of you want to do the job I’ll I’ll uh I’ll do it myself setting off hot on his heels looks like Del Toro and this is a wake up wake up call for everybody Poss possibly is we’ll have a look when we get downstairs I’m sure you’re right Brian 3 kilm to go so the battle is has not been given up but that’s just a drift over to let Adam Yates off up the road he’s not going to give him a turn shos looks behind and thinks oh no teammate of Yates and Yates pushes on he’s going to catch Talman here minute and 25 oh goodness me three k to go you know if it was climbing all the way Adam Yates might might actually take the stage he’s he’s in root mode here this is absolutely fantastic well I hope tman doesn’t blow up with 2.7 kilm remaining because Adam Yates looks like he’s on his very best form here Brian he is well Adam Yates is is going like a train train is still in front um you got to remember that it’s 800 m is the final uh part of the climb so he’ll go over the top um it’ll be close closer than maybe what he thought but I still think I believe in train will take the victory it’s much time Adam y puts on the the rest he’s only got 700 M this is it well you can see from the markers here he’s still got a bit of a Tailwind but he’s going to need a tail hurricane I think he’d prefer that you can see that the uh the rotors of the Wind Farm here are facing directly at the Riders proving that wind is where we have declared it but Adam Yates has now got sight of torst and train but this is Alam Yates cont just taking control of the tour of Switzerland as he did later on in the tour of om man just bouncing on the pedals and he’s one of the quickest to um revive as well whenever you whenever you talk to him at the end of a race you’re almost asking him to slow down it’s that Ratatat interview that we always expect from him he’s very fastly spoken and uh indeed his legs operate at just about the same the same rate minute 26 I I don’t trust that clock actually cuz it hasn’t moved move sometimes so I’m actually worrying on behalf of tson train here but let there be no doubt Adam Yates is in Stellar form and that’s a Clarion core to be honest for everybody else who wants an interest in this race because as it stands he is going to have a dominant lead he will have um the Chase from skel Mo behind ala he won’t do anything quick glance back there from Adam y I don’t think he has to worry about what’s happening Behind still think that um toon Train’s going to kind of hang on um he’s going to come top of the with 114 so this is the top it kind of levels out quite considerably but this is ala and B now well that’s a a quality group I’ve got to say in the chase here but out front toston train gets his K he’s got a mountains Jersey he doesn’t want that he wants the stage win as well he’s going to have a watch a k Jersey and indeed the stage win if he can hold off the charging Adam Yates minute and 12 checks over his shoulder that’s a little bit of worrt he knows who’s coming up and here he is at the 2K marker so about 400 met apart possibly a little bit more than that and he’s he’s got the perfect view of Adam Yates but am he’s in the perfect position here stage win would have been nice but quite frankly he’s going to have such a cushion over a whole raft of GC contenders at the end of today he will be solidly in that yellow Jersey is he catchable over the next three days of climbing you’re going to have to keep it here on the tour the Swiss to find out 1500 M flam Rouge beckons indeed for our man up front that wasn’t it by the way that we’ve just been by um so yeah that was uh our final K Point category one test so plenty more Mountains points going the way of torsson train 500 M he should be on the downhill section by now he’s just got the kick up to the line remaining and here come the foror including the defending champion chelmos on his back wheel is Almeida teammate as beral just goes backwards here out of what was a trio there is Bal on your screen right now and there is toon train 1,400 M and still he digs in well he’s chugging but you know you can ex it doesn’t have to show great Suess at a moment like this but he’s got to show some guts some bir 46 seconds now with 1300 me to go there is a at the line Bri it’s getting close close it’s getting really really close but I tell you what SC is doing a good job as well he’s holding Adam yet I think to about um 30 seconds but this is just blown everybody away took to 5 km to go and new came up and it’s just like blowing this pet into pieces Barry bant with Felix G coming through as well tosson train still digging in 38 seconds now 1200 me to go Adam Gates will be on the smooth stuff he loves that maybe not of chin but certainly in a situation such as this he can dig it in 34 seconds oh flam Rouge was that ever more welcome here we go torst and train digging in for a stage win biggest of his career and uh we’ll salute him when he comes to the line no matter what happens Adam Yates is still digging into that Gap it’ll be interesting what’s uh what’s your spread on what the Yates Gap will be at the line because he’s going to he’s going to basically Sprint through this it’s not necessar to catch toson train it’s to put as much space between himself and the other GC contenders as he can so he’s not going to slow down here bro no he’s not he’s not at all it’s about the time he puts into the the other Rivals behind uh they left it very very late the Lakers in the left hand side here he’s not that far to go to the finishing line now this is the flat part but the last few hundred met just drags up a little bit to the Finishing Line still believe he’s going to get it but how close is Adam y going to get I made this is getting a free ride at the moment with skm mo skm mo has done a good R today defending Champion but it looks as if H up there is going to be two Raiders from UE very difficult to dislodge here we go dwon train bringing it home 200 met to go some snow melt on the road stay on your bike oh my goodness there was a corner I was worried about and they beat the Hornings to fake this man and we fate him ourselves TOs and train rent like one on Rails brilliant work from a breakaway absolutely superb the clock now counts back to Adam Yates who’s on his case but more than that is determined to take this yellow Jersey he as well comes through the wet section nice and cleanly he’s still sprinting on because he’s looking for more and more seconds to make sure that that yellow Jersey is safe as houses upon his shoulders he’s going to seem almost nailed on for8 he comes to the line right now at 23 seconds also gets bonus seconds let’s remind ourselves Shellos is here with Alid might well start to spint him doesn’t want to lead Almeida out of course so side by side they come through the wet stuff stay on board they do so uh acclamation and oath offered up Shellos goes for it once b a second Al’s job is to try and stop him from getting those can’t do it that’s a good result for Selmo damage limitation I think you might say as he crossed the line with 49 seconds in areas of our day’s winner and here comes B now minute down 59 seconds possibly no bonus seconds for him sho’s getting the last 4 second bonus today and a whole raft of other pre-stage favorites coming in right now enrik Mass through the Splash Zone here it’s like a log flume isn’t it uh but yeah it’s been super entertaining today but there’s been a lot of broken ambition left as wreckage Upon This Mountain all hail toor and train and likewise Adam Yates what a job they both did today phenomenal yeah it was perfect in the end for U team emirats and two Raiders up there and you know two of them going to the tour France to help patcha just goes to show you how strong that t France team is going to be but Adam going like a train but unfortunately he wasn’t able to catch the train in front of him for a famous Victory toss in train winning a great stage and taking the king of the mountains taking a TSO watch it was his day today it certainly was gosh strange to see a Sprint finale after such a tough day and it gets tougher again tomorrow another climbing day for us to behold it’s going to be a long time before everyone comes in today I must say that wet Road well maybe it’s more it’s less threatening than I believe Brandon Rivera coming in at the back of this little tail and what stories we have to tell you today toston train a man who came back after a testicular cancer diagnosis picked up during a standard doping test that all Riders have to go through they picked it up lucky for him they did came off the bike back onto it change teams and indeed uh get another change for the best for toon train he’s won today here at the tour of Switzerland and put some very big names behind him here comes Alberto bettio Brave ride by him Ethan hater is part of this group as well 3 minutes and 16 down for the man who led this race at the beginning of the day and now hands over that Jersey James Shaw bringing it in interesting day today Brian and plenty more still to come in this race it was an interesting day never really kind of kicked off until U tank came to the front there was a couple of teams kind of probing it trying for the victory um I really do think if they’ started a bit earlier that Adam yat would have won the stage but I’m glad this man did kind of hang out there got in the Breakaway clearly was confident within himself and the strongest off that Breakaway of eight riders that went away early in this [Music] stage terrific day both personally and also for the team for this man well he’s not talking to anyone just yet but um I think he’s just Gathering his emotions Brian it’s been as tough a day as you could possibly imagine yeah um tougher a lot it would have been a tough finish knowing that Adam y was coming um but still an outstanding performance he took everything on the day that was possible um and like you say from his testicular cancer diagnosis to where he is now you know probably the the best day of his life um brilliant stage one for his team baring Victorious but you have to say that uee look look good first and second in the general classification by the looks of things scale Mo’s defending Champion still up there I think um only bernau is within a minute of um Adam Yates so it’s not over yet there some big mountain still to come but U te emor look strong here they started the strongest team and indeed they have the leader but this man takes the plits today or at least some of them toson train part of the Breakaway strongest man left standing from it and boy did he deliver wonderful Larry wbas coming in here is today’s finish toson T takes it ahead of Adam Yates MOS sha Igan Bernal a KN down on the day’s winner but significantly of course 47 seconds down on Adam Yates that’s going to sting only Mass go utre and rickell tson train does it for Norway Adam Yates does it for Great Britain and leads here in Switzerland after finishing second today and indeed of course taking six bonus seconds as well shos picked up the last of the bonuses TOs train got the bonuses but that was of no consequence as he headed up to the snow capped Peaks for a stage win atiso watch and a mountains Jersey all his well it’s a quality Breakaway today and we were speculating as to whether they might make it or not I said yes Brian said no 50.8 km from home they started to dig in and in fact the petan just couldn’t couldn’t decide how to assemble its charge Q 365 they were doing most of the work in the Sprint oh Michael Matthews decided to take a hat full of points a rack full of points from Brien Koka put them level Kar has stage winner however and indeed we suspect we have the black Jersey at the end of the day but nonetheless great battle great tumble as well for betti all um shorts looking very secondhand likewise his backside after um I’m afraid taking a spill in the leader Jersey uh taking a um well a stand I think you might say from the Breakaway first of all it was this man number 13 unlucky for some simil diler he went for it but all that did was light up the ambition of Roland Talman from uh Tuda Pro cycling and indeed toss in train of Bahrain Victorious it looked like they left it just a little bit too long to decide to close this Gap well knowing it was coming the peltin that is toss and train went back to the car stock up with gels stuck a bottle in the cage and went for it and at this point with 8.2 km to go the Gap back to the pel of 3 minutes and 40 looked unbridgeable it was so brave lots of dice were rolled further back with daan um AG londal thinking about it with Perry bantra but I’m afraid you’d have to wait for that to dry if you’re waiting for him to come home today it was not to be him toucher Wheels they’ll Toro going down and indeed uh the attrition rate I think for those who are carrying Burgers uh quite high today Adam Yates kicked off said um this is a time to go looks so relaxed hav’t seen him at the front all day and then he just started pecking into those who are up the road and we were starting to wonder whether he might even just go for the stage win himself in the end caught the an ultimate Rider from the Breakaway moved himself into second place and at this point was a minute 25 down when train took the line brilliantly so we were then wondering what the Gap was going to be back to Adam Yates and we didn’t have to wait long to see him just come up over the rise and celebrate himself through the standing water of the snow melt at the finale and Adam Yates came in sprinting all the way wanting to put as much space between himself and those who would chase him down in the GC and it was MOS indeed that held off yates’s teammate Almeida at the line to Snapple the last bonus seconds that was around 49 seconds down we had to wait another 10 seconds for this man Egan barell to come across the line but Adam Yates in control of the race to train taking the day that is how the stage finished with train ahead of Yates Sor almea beral a minute in the rears of the day’s winner 47 seconds down on Adam Yates but also factor in that bonus six seconds that Yates took that’s his overall well we have charl maer teammate of course of Adam Yates who now leads this race about to talk to us can I just a quick action can you just tell us tell us the bit how it went how was the first explanation of this week I was quite good uh I just came from a camp you know I didn’t really know how it was but yeah I’m happy Adam did a great job so yeah we happy I did a good teamwork as well yeah was just a bit hour in the final I couldn’t get a Sprint but I kind of get I was a bit block there so what happened with uh this in this moment I mean uh ah it’s just natural he’s like he’s normal he closed me a bit on the on the corner but he’s okay thank you very much thank you there we are I’m not surprised sham was wanted the bonus seconds just to keep his hopes alive well we will wait for the stage presentation it might well be some time because there a lot of riders still down the mountain Brian yeah I think we’ll see the stage win on the yellow Jersey um definitely the mountains Jersey and the Young Writers there it’s just Brian Kar where is he going to [Music] [Music] finish congrats to your win it’s incredible it’s your first world [Music] [Music] [Music] congrats to your win it’s incredible it’s your first world tour win here on the top of the tour to Swiss did you already realize what just happened oh to be honest no like uh I was saying yesterday a doctor was into my room and he asked me how I was and I said I’m not good but I don’t have legs and then it’s yeah obviously special when it’s for Gino now in the Gino mountain and ride for Gino and yeah it’s really special yes I just wanted to ask you that as well you were riding for the same team as he was riding last year even if you were not teammate as you joined the team only this year what does that mean to you oh it means the world he was still a colleague and yeah you still miss him and uh then obviously in this team it’s super special and we always want to ride for him man on a day like this when his mom is also here it’s super special thank you very much how nice is that Brian yeah just it’s a colleague that’s what they say it was just so um heartfelt um Everybody kind of club together everybody was shocked at the same time and you know he still Remembered in this race and and you know just adds a little bit to that determination especially for the barin Victorious team G sadly fell of course at this race last year here’s your overall ranking Adam Yates leads this race by 26 seconds ahead of teammate sha almea one and two they are shelm Mo’s same time as almea are defending Champion egab now in fourth place but 49 seconds in AAR kelderman Onley mass utre rello and Felix G can’t really declare it over Brian but that’s a lot that’s a big lead yes it’s not over um but it’s strong performance for uee first and second in general smiles from this man after his uh rather touching interview a few moments ago to train takes the day bright Sunshine for him gets himself a goodie bag still don’t know what’s inside the goodie bag um get some flowers know what’s inside the flowers pollen um get a lump of cheese gets better and better [Music] it doesn’t quite know what to do it’ll be back for The Young Riders Jersey and his watch in a few moments time he’s never done it before I guess so toson train then taking the day as you know ahead of adames and Mattis it should be our leader Jersey next I should [Music] imagine great Rider in charge of this race and just charged up this mountain by he did he looked super super impressive and um ala as well good teamwork from left it really really late but you know that was their [Music] tactic with a steering wheel as [Applause] well I think we’re going to be speaking to Egan B now in a few moments time Yates leads the race as you mentioned by 26 seconds ahead of shot made his teammate and Matos but now 49 seconds of drift first uphill finish how was it well I think it was a good test to be honest he says long climb pretty tough I think what we what we need to take from this is um just to know where we are in terms of our own legs and our own standings I guess compared to everybody else but he found out today didn’t [Music] he Matty selos is the best young Rider good for him he really went for it Brian and I’m pleased he did he did look strong obviously you wanted to defend your title um nothing he could do about Adam y though he’s just on super form at the moment um he’s up against it though but I think he’ll he want to at least try and and do something in the days to come but yeah difficult um when you’ve got Almeida in the same time and um Adam Yates in front of you look at these great names still in The Young Riders competition it’s phenomenal isn’t it [Music] gets himself a mountains Jersey he’s got quite a lead in this competition Brian yeah I don’t think he was too too worried about that when he first set out but he take that all day long finishes of the day in 18 points to Adam Y in second place at 11 Jenny started the day at 10 points and he picked up none so um yeah a lot of points in offer and that’s why and R let’s have a look at how the mountains point stand there it is TOS train on 18 points Adam Yates on 11 ahead of Copus and Jenny who wore that Jersey today let’s hear from Adam Yates Adam it’s really cold here Adam this morning I asked you if you are one of the favorite of the day without the Breakaway you would have made yeah it would have been nice if uh there was nobody up the road but uh I think yeah I sure I have good legs um I wasn’t super confident about this couple section um you know I think I said to you this morning you know with these couples that get bounced around and uh you know it’s not nice so uh yeah but the legs are good and uh the team’s good so uh good day this attack you had it in mind or it came like that uh actually today we was may be more calm but I felt good and uh yeah I think when you have the you have good legs you need to take the opportunity yeah maybe tomorrow this you know the leg sound the same um so yeah we we had to try thank you gosh he sounded cold didn’t he 13 Celsius I guess if you set your airon to that in the car and um it’ll be pretty chilly and so it it proves to be it was absolutely white hot today looked threateningly relaxed I think it’s fair to say didn’t quite get the stage win but um I’m sure that one maybe will beckon in the next next three days of climbing before our final time trial which may even also suit him to be honest he looks in charge by he does he’s not getting bounced around too much on those cobbles but um now you have to say that he looks super strong today um scale M if he wants to defend is is really up against it and we just heard from Adam Yates that you have to take advantage of good legs when you feel good take advantage of it you know you don’t know how you’re going to be over the next few days what time is it it’s Tio [Music] time he won the Tio intermediate Sprint they hav’t actually open it up I always think that you know we want to see something to make Sean Kelly jealous well I think that’s just about it is it Matos is going to have a a chat with us in a few moments time our defending Champion leader of The Young Riders classification [Music] [Music] well there you are the competitivity award as well from JP Shen um that means he gets the teac colored numbers tomorrow [Music] let’s hear from last year’s race winner Matty shos uh Matas what conclusion do you draw from this first up finish of the week that uh did a really good homework tell us a bit how it went uh from your point of view no I think we took control uh we believed in me and uh unfortunately we were kind alone uh for a long time but Yobo did a great job and then uh way decided to uh to pull a little bit on the last climb and and and Y went uh I had good legs and I could follow really good and I’m proud of that why did you you didn’t follow Adam then I mean I tried uh but uh you know uh if he’s just anywhere near his tour shape then I’m really proud only losing 23 seconds or whatever I’m losing and what happened in that Sprint with W I don’t know I don’t know because he complained a bit about a little push I don’t really know what happened I don’t think so uh kept the racing line and uh did a regular Sprint uh and uh that’s what happened I don’t know what you’re talking about from now on the big opponent is Haram you think for the DC has been riding well so far yeah I think so uh again Adam is going to be the right hand of today in the tour and uh and uh he’s in really good shape obviously uh oh I hope he would say he’s in great shape uh and it’s going to be difficult to take the Jersey off him but uh we will try of course bit unfair to pose that question I don’t think there’s any beef between them to be honest really unfair he never said that say look that’s it that’s the way it is he took it the straight line to the Finishing Line and that was it there was no problem so Madea said so that was a bit yes bit controversial there by the interviewer stage five destination car Ambry and Carrie are only separated by about 6 km how on Earth are we going to squeeze in that distance then well you’ll have a look now and you’ll work it [Music] out climbing very early on and as you can see plenty of L as well back through arbre and then down the valley up lot of downhill once we get over our category one test at carry and then we head away from carry in amril our starting point and we head south before kicking up to malalia all the way down this Valley Road with just a brief visit up [Music] here heading all the way home uh destination carry the climb that we descended we will then climb it’s good fun in him everyone wants to see the peltin there’s your tiso Sprint just look at this oh my goodness an overcooked piece of spaghetti dropped upon the mountain look at that that’s our day be a challenge two category one tests it’s actually the same Mountain but hey you know taking it to two different directions it’s going to be great here on the tour of [Music] Switzerland well Brian final thoughts enjoyed it it’s been a cracker of a day and I’m so glad the train came in on time there we are well plenty of cheese up here but not crack a barel that’s long G thanks for you com it’s been a joy today we’ll do it again tomorrow shall [Music] We Tour Switzerland it rolls on stage five tomorrow Ambry to carry same place same time with myself Carlton Kirby and Brian Smith in your good company see you then for now stay safe join us tomorrow bye-bye [Music] [Music]
