several months ago I booked flights from Manchester to the Netherlands and my plan from here was to rent a bike from Amsterdam and go cycle touring around the country for 6 days let’s go hey guys we’ve just arrived into Amsterdam there an early start this morning had to get up at 4:00 a.m. but just heading to the bike shop now it’s a nice day so far little bit overcast meant to rain later but let’s see how we get on it’s just a hunch but I think the Dutch likes cing this is my Dutch Torah and I’m just about to set off on my six day trip across the Netherlands first mile done it’s going good I can’t really film while I’m cycling on the bike in Amsterdam uh as you can get fine for having your phone while cycling so just recording a clip here and then we’ll be heading out into the countryside light fash around the first windmill of the trip I’m sure plenty more to [Music] [Music] go 5 miles so out of Amsterdam Center obviously we you can see we’re next to a main road but we’ve got a lovely massive smooth cycle paath here which is called great danc through Stars fly having my first stop here we’ve done 10 miles uh I’m pretty hungry I already had a bit of food uh just before flying we’re tucking into some pastries here I’ve got Pano shock the other pastry I’ve got is ham and cheese which is the delicious look at how ridiculously smooth these paths are it’s brilliant here’s a bit of the industrial part of the Netherlands battl in a nice headwind here you can see the waves on the water and I’m going straight that way here was a free Ferry shuttling cyclists across a Nord Z Canal it was a welcome break from the cing we’ve got company that is the first Hill I’ve seen in the Netherlands it’s massive we’re now cycling along the North Coast and it’s beautiful we’re riding through sort of forest San juny type things lovely path again thankfully the wind is slightly behind now so it’s a lot easier [Music] going here we are ping to the sun [Music] Junes go in the [Music] Twilight Whispers of the night [Music] these here would have been the Tulip field these would have been vibrant purples Blues Reds sadly The Season’s finished about a month ago I think few little Hills here look at [Music] them we here at a place called Bergen Andy I believe it’s now [Music] Hearts the be no me to speak hey guys I’ve finished for today currently in my tent as you can probably hear it’s raining outside thankfully I got got here and just about set up my tent before it started pouring down I did 43 miles which is about 70k uh this afternoon after picking up my bike there a bit harder than on my road bike and my bum and my legs are a bit stiff now so I’m glad to get to [Music] Camp morning guys it’s day two I had a good long sleep last night think fell asleep at about uh half 9 in the evening it was early start so I was really tired but the sun is out this morning and we’re about to get going it’s uh 10 8 and we’re going to hit the [Music] trails I just got overtaken by a granny H shot [Music] C that is the sea there just over to our left over those sand Junes beautiful glorious morning pretty windy but it’s going okay so far this is not actually Road this is a cycle path how [Music] amazing how amazing is this cycling by the [Music] Sea look at that cool submarine there just having some snacks here we’ve passed the industrial town of den Elder uh pretty industrial there it’s nice to get out of there currently we’re just on a cycle path next to the busy main road but it’s segregated so we’re all [Music] good we’ve just got some food from Aldi got some tortilla chips and then got I think a sausage roll and and a spinach and feta roll as well currently just waiting at a bus stop here uh there’s a free bus that shuttles uh bikes over a about 15 Mile dke which is currently closed to cyclist at the moment uh so got half an hour wait here and then back come to cycling after [Music] thankfully the wind’s being behind me for a lot of today or that would have been pretty tough day two done I did 55 mil today that’s about 90 kilm just cooking up some food here we’ve got Noy with tuna and pesto and I’ve got a tomato as well so the no is just boiling up nicely there the cycling today was fairly straightforward I had a nice Tailwind behind me my legs and bum were a bit s though after yesterday and I’m sure that’ll only get worse as we go on here we go here’s a tuna pesto Noy with serving of tomato I didn’t bring a knife so I’m going to have to eat my tomato like an apple morning guys we have rain today looks a bit miserable outside the rainy weather has brought out all the Slugs we’ve got slugs all around the tent guys as you can see it’s pretty rainy today I originally had a big rout pled uh for today but I think I’m going to shter it because I’ll probably get quite cold later because it’s meant to rain all day so there might not be as much footage as the normally is but let’s see how it goes as you can see still raining out there I’m just under a little shelter going to grab a little bit of food we’ve just passed the town of Harlingen which is a nice little uh Port Town it’s lovely but I couldn’t really get any Clips uh cuz I’m just filming on my phone at the [Music] moment it’s pretty cold cycling with the rain and the wind here but still having a good time got company from a little old bus shelter here even got a little table today I’m kind of hopping from bus stop to bus stop Sheltering a bit from the rain I attempted to warm myself up with a cafe stop the food was just what I wanted even though I had selected it randomly from a Dutch menu [Music] just back at camp now I’ve just finished my cycle it was uh 42 Mi which is about 67k and it hasn’t stopped raining at all I think it’s time for a warm shower for me and it’s still raining outside so hopefully I can sit in here and read my book for a while I’m just cooking my pasta here inside the lovely man who owns the campsite saw me cooking outside and told me to come in here and cook it which is very nice of him and he gave me some fresh Basel which will go perfectly with my pasta and [Music] pesto the be no me to speak
