who are the top Riders to win the 2024 tour to France starts June 29th in Florence Italy runs for three weeks up in the high mountains well we’re going to take a look at the four Riders you need to keep your eyes on their strengths and their weaknesses so when the GC battle really gets going you know who will be your pick for the GC battle number one on the list and probably number one on everyone’s list is yonas vingo of course the Danish Rider of Team Vima Lisa bike has won won the last two editions 2022 and 2023 and finished second overall in 2021 he started off a season with the bang we saw him in Spain winning ogan Camino Treno adriatico winning the overall the blue leaders jersey and that cool trophy dominant dominant dominant he’s been likened to this current generation’s Chris FR thin mountain goat also has a lethal time trial but it’s a lot to be asked for yonas vingo to get back into shape because you remember he had that nasty crash in the tour of the bass country at the beginning of April and out of the Riders the top GC riders that crashed that day he came off the wors punctured lung fractured ribs collar bone sternum you name it he had it he’s fighting back to be his best team visan Lisa bike need to watch his numbers see how he’s going and to see if he’ll develop in the first week or second week and be ready for the third week Showdown if not who is is their B plan who’s the B option well there are two and they’re both Americans SE cus and Mato Jorgenson number two on my list of four t pachar Team UA Emirates a sylvanian superstar you’ll know him well because he just dominated in the jod Italia winning the pink jersey on day two holding it for the entire three weeks basically except for stage one six-stage wins and nearly a 10-minute lead over his nearest rival when it was all said and done in Rome yeah he’s also an overall winner past winner in the Tour of France if you’re looking back to 2020 when he just beat out Primos Ric another Slovenian there in that final mountain time trial he won again in 2021 when yonas vingo was second the last two editions he’s been runner up this year he’s come out of the gates with the bang you could tell he’s got his mojo back and he wants to win the Tour to France and wants to also do the double being the first Rider to do the double if he pulls it off since 1998 he’s had a heck of a season hard out of the gates 80 km solo escape and Strate bian tearing apart the field for a second victory in Li bestone Le walta catalunia doing the same well we’re going to have to see how he gets into the T of France because it’s a lot to ask to win the J Italia three weeks of racing and then show up again in the T of France will his strength last for the three weeks or will he crumble number three rco Evan AOL who makes his day debut in the 2024 T to France when it rolls out of Florence on June 29th yeah it’s his debut there was some speculation last year that after he dropped out of the GE toala with covid that maybe you would take on the tour to France for the first time but the team didn’t want to rush it they had this project 2024 in mind instead he went to the walpa and we all know how that went instead rco Evol focused on the tour to France and getting all the pieces in place to be ready and that included signing a mountain helper K Landa the Spaniard to have support in the high mountains also he has writers like Elon Van Wilder those writers will support him in his aim to be the next Belgian Superstar there’s a lot of hype around Remco and he’s already shown that he can live up to it world champion in the time trial in the road race current Belgian road race champion and he’s going into the tur of France and he’s going at it approaching it in the best way possible and that’s taking it slow and steady to get to this day because in his past palar he has thepa 2022 overall he looked good in the jro Italia last year before dropping out of the jro Italia due of Co he’s a phenomenal talent but he needs to prove his consistency in three weeks because as I talked about before in the volpa last year there’s been problems there at the volpa last year he fell apart especially on that Toray stage but before that the team fell apart by letting SE cus well not being able to pull back sep cus who went away and the Escape that eventually helped SE cus pull off the overall Victory and then of course there’s some problems along the way like we saw earlier this year in Perry we’re going to learn a lot from the earlier races in the season and that includes the Criterium to Doan which leads in to the T of France but definitely Remco evap is going to have a lot of weight on his shoulders with the Belgian press and the team doesn’t have a b plan if Remco EV a can’t pull it off but he’s going to be out to prove those naysayers wrong he won the volp in 2022 they said that well the competition wasn’t that high there roit had eventually left the race after crashing and so he had an easy ride well there’s no easy ride in grand Tours but he wants to prove everyone wrong so at the tour to France watch out for him now that brings us on to Primos RIT who this year switched teams he switched teams from Yambo visma to Bor hansra because he won a shot to go back to the T of France as race leader he’s in the team Bor henso which is going to be rebranded Red Bull when the tur of France starts of course we all know he barely just missed out on tur France victory in 2020 and that really still stings that year he fell apart in that final Mountain TT and he fell apart to T pachar and he’s still fighting to get back to that position to try to win the tto France along the way he’s won almost every one we stage race there is and he’s a killer in those final meters always able to pick up bonus seconds now I should mention him and Remco they were also involved in the crash in the the tour of the bass country along with yonas vingo Remco evap had the broken collar bone Primos Ric came away with just scrapes but took time away before he reappeared in the Criterium J we’re all going to be keeping on our eyes out on team Bor hro and how the team gels around their new Star Rider he has supporting Riders like Alexander vlasov and ji Henley ji Henley could be the leader the B plan if Primos Roy can’t pull it off but we’re going to have a heck of a four-way battle between him REM coap T pachar and yonas vingo I would say the strength of Primos Ric was as I mentioned that kick in the final meters to pick up bonus seconds the weakness he’s the older of the four and he’ll have his last chance in 2024 possibly his last chance to try to pull it off so we’ll have to see also the weakness could potentially be his new team regardless brace yourself for True GC battle all four of these big stars on the start line going head-to-head in the 2024 tur of France who’s your pick for the GC overall now knowing their strengths and weaknesses we have a clear idea of who are the favorites for this year’s tour to France

    1. If Vingegaard even podiums that will be amazing. Only a crash or illness can stop Pogačar. Visma should have let Vingegaard recover properly and go for La Vuelta.

    2. UAE has such a strong team that it's hard to see anyone but Pogacar winning. That said, I think it's going to be awesome. The route is pretty cool and I think we might be in for a surprise this year. 🔥

    3. From what I've seen so far believe Tadej will win this year. Visma has an awesome team for 2024 TdF, but have doubts about health and true fitness of Jonas and Wout. Believe they are rushing their recovery, don't blame them it's the TdF, but health is more important in the long run.

    4. There is a huge question mark behind Jonas! For one thing, his form is very questionable. On the other hand, we don't know how he coped psychologically with the heavy fall. How will he behave if he comes under pressure on a descent? I don't think he'll be right at the front.

Tadej is the clear number one. He is brimming with self-confidence, has the best team at his side and seems to be in the form of his life.

Second place should be the absolute maximum for Primoz or Remco.

    5. It wouldn't be a surprise if Jonas wins, but in no universe is he the #1 favorite going in this year after the crash. If he can limit his losses in the first week he'll be looking more favorable for yellow. Pog is by far the favorite to win. Primoz could do it if he can stay upright. Crashes are his real weakness, none of the other crap. He has 1 or 2 more years before his age actually starts to impair his performance. Remco would surprise me this year but I think it's inevitable he'll win it within the next 5 years.

    6. Pogi is a safe pick especially with this strong team. I would love to see one of the Americans podium. Hopefully Roglic could stay upright and make an impact.😂

    7. Sorry, but number one should be Pogacar. He's been #1 on UCI's list. You can argue that Jonas is one of the favorites, but saying Jonas is number one "on everyone's list" is simply not factual. It borders on ignorance or is heavily influenced by individual preference to be Vingegaard's biggest fan. Let's not let our bromance cloud our judgment here!

    8. Pogy as we speak wins. He also has a strongest support team. It's only them to loose. The rest will chase and scramble for the lesser minor positions. Remco will be a distant in this one. We haven't seen him doing a 3 week tour comfortable. Rog, please stay on your Specilized bike. Ving with the kind of injuries background, this may be a long shot. Pogy doubles the tour wins this year.

    9. The wild card is that there are 4 legit contenders, so marking one rival won't be enough, especially since both Remco and Pog are willing to go long to win stages. They might all neutralize each other, but it might be super exciting. let's hope for the latter.

    10. Tadej has the best team, he has been the best in 2024… done! Roglic will most likely crash out. Remco will continue to have at least one high altitude fail and Jonas has not had sufficient time to overcome that horrific crash.

    12. Primoz Roglic. I know he’s not everyone’s favorite, but he’s my favorite. I think he still has a lot of chance. I love his grit. He always gets back up, never settles. He’s not at all a big ego, nor a big talker. Always chill, let his records do the talking.
Rooting for an outlier this year I guess!

    13. If you compare the teams ,well ,Visma lease a bike squad ,1 -Jonas Vingegaard 2 – Tiesj Benoot 3 – Sepp Kuss 4 – Matteo Jorgenson 5 – Christophe Laporte 6 – Wout Van Aert 7 – Jan Tratnik 8 – Wilco Kelderman ,then UAE Emirates 11 – Tadej Pogacar 12 – Adam Yates 13 – João Almeida 14 – Juan Ayuso 15 – Marc Soler 16 – Mikel Bjerg 17 – Nils Pollit 18 – Tim Wellens ,they may change one or two riders ,Felix Grossschartner or Rafal Majka, Marc Hirschi, whatever it's clear that the UAE Squad on the paper is stronger than Visma's squad, however even with the strongest lider and the strongest squad might not be enough to win ,in a 3 week race a lot of stuff could happen that shattered a lot of people's goals!!! On the roads we will be happy to see who takes the victory, and the podium, top 5 and top 10 !!

    14. Jonas is really gong to struggle to come back from that injury. That’s a far bigger setback than riding the Giro.

Remco isn’t in the same tier as TP. Roglic the same. Look at them in the Dauphine, neither looks like a TDF winner.

    15. Remco does NOT deserve to be mentioned in the same group as Tadej, Jonas and Roglic. I am actually shocked that Jonas is even starting. I don't see any way he can be at his best after all the training time he's missed. And he's not going there for any reason other than to win. Even second place is a disappointment for him.
Pogacar just seems to be on another level. I'm a huge Roglic fan, but I don't think he can beat Tadej this year. I'm not sure anyone can. I think Jorgensen is a darkhorse to make the podium. He's definitely one to watch.

    16. I love that almost everyones favourite is Tadaj alone. If he is fit for fight as his team says I'd say Tadej and Jonas shares the main favourite role with Roglic just below. But please continue to underestimate Jonas, it's perfect! Less pressure for him <3
