good morning squirrels well we’re here welcome to the port of rosoff it’s uh quite early in the morning 7:00 and uh I’m going to hit the road got 450 miles to do today so uh weather looks cracking and uh here’s the Beast all ready to roll there’s Matthew Matthew’s excited so uh let’s do this yeah we’re going to be traveling got have fresh breath Tick Tick Tac for on Route hi all rant to go bloody alarm went off English time four 4:30 in the morning so right on side of the road remember keep to the right there’s something wonderful about French roads I wish we had them in England yeah they’re so much better let’s see if we can reset that trip yes you obviously want to make some uh he’s he’s not hanging around well it’s a lovely morning quite uh quite cool at the minute probably about the same as home to be honest what is it it’s um 18 actually it’s not bad at all 18 it’s quite War stuck in the belly of the uh Ferry for half an hour oh must have been 35° in there put your jacket on or your helmet on or anything’s the fous famous Red Bus all right we’re off keep right said the sign don’t know why it’s an owl but it’s an owl that’s saying keep right wonderful it’s big camera quite a few bikes on board it was um this weekend it’s uh 24hour L mon so uh quite a few uh bikes I imagine something of going there and um quite a few guys I met some somebody that lives about half a mile away from me in the village where I’m from they’re off to L more there’s 18 of them taking a load of push bikes of all things to take to Lam more yeah quite a busy Crossing on the ferry bit sniffly looks like diesel on the floor there want none of that Miss up there’s a couple of guys on um 60s triumphs so they going far today and they were saying that they they they planed 60 mil today so not far for them he said have you got a SAT now I said yeah where you heading I said moay the first stop oh we’re going that way he said we’ll follow you then I said well what what what speed do you cruise at he said we turn to stick to about 50 I said uh I’ve got I’ve got 450 miles to get on me belt today so I’ll be I’ll be traveling at speed limits so if the speed limit is 70 or 80 I’ll be doing that haven’t got time for a 50 m hour mind you first section that I’ve got like this now is a few villages and it’s a 30 m hour it’s nice it gets you gets your blood flowing gets you accustomed to the to the right hand side of the road and you’re not going fast it’s a bit of fresh though say it said 18 I think that was reading more or less the temperature in the uh from the bowels it’s dropped yeah it’s 13 I didn’t think it felt like 18 no for well I’m absolutely gutted I’ve own myself a nice orange juice to have to stop at some point and um in my haste to get to the bike in the bowels of the Ferry I’ve left it on the bloody table haven’t I in the calf so somebody’s got the a free orange juice yes it doesn’t seem like a year since I was doing this that’s cuz it wasn’t uh it was October last year two other guys first time in 15 years I went with somebody else and uh I got to be honest f it on me own pick and choose when you want to stop how many miles you want to do in a day and whether it’s a lot or a little is uh oh yeah going well lovely my eyes are streaming it must be cold been all day the lovely smell of cow at the minute it’s um 1 minute past 5:00 and I’ve been on the go um 9 10 hours and I have to rep report that the the FJR is every bit as comfortable as um pan pan European that I did it on last year uh and I’ll be about 5 minutes away from base camp for for the night you know me and uh it’s been it’s been a blast I’ve enjoyed it Matthew said he’s enjoyed it too um we’ve had a couple of uh unnecessary little tours only tiny little tours where the satav decided to take us off the main route and just shove us about a bit on some back roads but it’s all it’s all in a day fun is it yeah so I’m not going to lie I will um look forward to uh pitching up and having a couple of beers tonight I will I think we can overtake this now yep yeah I’m going to enjoy couple of ice cold beers tonight it’s warmed up a lot from this morning uh this morning heated grips on and feeling cold uh now it’s 23° absolutely perfect amundo I love I love anywhere up to sort of like 26° is um lovely riding weather once you get to 30 see he starts getting a bit warm if you’re not moving if you get stuck in uh slow moving traffic it gets a bit hot but on the hole Yeah 23 like it is at the minute bloody bloody we got 1.6 miles to go we’re in the basted of Amy I keep coming back to this place it’s lovely I really really like it um it’s got a lot of English in it there is a lot of English here um but it it’s very pretty place and the campsite is right on the edge of the The Village so it’s just a nice little stroll in for your evening meal or your beer yeah ticks a lot of boxes campsites a bit rustic it’s not it’s not a festar campsite with swimming pools and uh flashy facilities but it’s um it’s all right I likes it well I won’t be buying fuel there not at one 194 mind you I’ve still got nearly a full tank that’s nice I went there last time I was here guy bought a little citen van he started renting a disused petrol for cour opened him up opened himself put little the Cal that’s a cracking idea here we are then coming into the uh what’s the door doing lots of traffic in Hay today oh he’s even dearer 205 for 95 209 for super un Leed this I won’t knock this lady down oh she’s doing a runner I’ll get her oh I’ve just missed me turning busy paying attention to her I missed me turning go down this one get a quick uh insight into the into the village LA poost and there’s the village on the left there’s the uh the basted in front of me and down here is where the campsite is oh got uh expensive new barriers up I was going to go um combination of for cost Effectiveness and and uh good performance I was going to go mitching pr5 GTS but uh my tire man said they a bit in short supply at the minute he said I can get you PR Sixers which uh by all accounts are uh if you listen to Mitchell and Spiel um 10% better wellwise for longevity so that’s what we’ve gone with yeah set a Mulin pr6 GTS uh I’m going to be clocking up probably close to 2 and half th000 miles so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of wear rate they have I I right folks we’re underway oh look at that on day one just off the ferry we’re under way cruising comfortably and I’ve got according to have 68 miles on here before I uh turn off first day does involve quite a bit of dual Carriage we so what I’m going to do is um I’m going to cut you loose and um bring you back again so got 68 68 miles on here I’ll perhaps bring you back again as I’m turning off of a for the next Road in 67 or 68 miles and um I’ll let you know what’s what in the meantime put cruise control on a second I’ll put you loose see you in a bit hello peeps well I’ve been going uh 2 hours now and um e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e coffee from a coffee machine and it was luk warm and horrible still that’s that done way point8 skipped no I didn’t skip it I didn’t skip it we did it number nine 34 mil on is um fuel so let’s go and let’s hope it warms up a bit because at the minute folks it’s um it’s a bit chilly chap on the BMW said the same you should have had me eat grips on I said I know believe it or not back there um it dropped to 8° so it’s in a bit of a bit of a fresh start this morning stops warmed me up a little bit at the to we do it a a few more degrees of sunshine wise I think destination is um it’s 21° today so I get a bit nearer it should start getting a bit warmer I can’t believe it June June the the 12th and I’m in France and it’s cold oh the sunked it right so we’ve had a we’ve had his first coffee stop after uh getting up fa 3 hours ago I’ve got um let’s have a quick look got 160 mil under me belt and another 300ish to go so it’s all good I’ll uh cut you loose and bring you back when it gets a bit more interesting later on the in the day I should be coming off the jeel carriageways probably probably just around lunchtime coming off the Dual carriageways and um seeing a bit more of the countryside I’ve got a scheduled lunch stop that I did last year uh it’s a a little bar that does a menu of a menu of the day and um it was only about 12 or something like that and it was lovely so uh I think that’s what I’m planning have a nice bit of lunch and stretch me legs and yeah so uh we’ll cut you loose and uh bring you back later bye for now
