    Riding 59 Classic Cycling Climbs In One Day | Flandrien Challenge



    Flanders is one of cycling’s true heartlands. This cycling mad region of Belgium is home to dozens of legendary climbs, or bergs, which are featured each year in classic bike races such as the Tour of Flanders, E3 Harelbeke and Gent–Wevelgem. Ollie went to Flanders to take on the Flandrien Challenge, attempting to ride 59 iconic climbs of Flanders in a single day. How did he get on?

      Find it a tad hilarious when ollie compares his time to the KOMs as if he would be anywhere near the time if he wasn't doing an endurance ride 😂 super 💪 effort

      I have been looking at the three day suggested routes.
      2 questions:
      Is there a better way to break up the days challenges? Day 1 is 75k and 914m whereas the other days are 190/2392 and 142/2232.
      What sort of prep should I do for both bike and myself?

      Not to discredit the enormous effort you have done, but you classified cobbled senctions like the paddestraat, lange munte, Lippenhovestraat, Kerkgate etc. as 'bergs', when they are mostly flat roads that happen to have cobbles. So not really 'bergs' in my opinion. Anyway, very cool to see you ride around, well done!

      As belgian from antwerp, I think it's really funny how you pronounce those Flemish words 🤣🤣🤣
      But congrats for doing this challenge!

      BTW I rode de muur and the bosberg on a 33kg non aero trike

      well done Olli, a hefty days challenge completed, hats off to you m8, i have cycled up the koppenberg about 20 years ago & omg was it bumpy, think i spent most of the ride bounced out of the saddle, i here that it's not as bad nowadays,
      it's a great place to ride as everybody is aware of cyclists unlike here were you feel like your in the way,
      I would like to go back there & try out some of the famous routes, would be pretty cool to have a name on the wall.

      Watching for a second time now, the first viewing inspired me to go and attempt it which I'm doing in a couple of weeks time, love a challenge. My new neighbour is a famous Belgium known as the King of the Bakers

      Up date on my attempt to do the Flandrien Challenge 😢 the weather and technology failed me. When I started yesterday it was nice and then 50km into it the rain started which killed my phone, in the words of Arnie " I'll be back "
