CYCLING IN ITALY | STAGE 15 OF THE GIRO | BORMIO – LIVIGNO

Welcome back to the channel! If you caught the latest vlog, I mention I’m catching up on sharing some recent cycling trip footage. Including a visit to Bormio to see Stage 15 of the Giro. Arguably one of the hardest mountain stages of the race, with the epic climb up Livignio.

In this video we show you where we stayed and hired bikes, plus the INCREDIBLE scenery up the climb that the pro’s take, plus a glimpse of them. Including Pogacar and Geraint Thomas. (Sorry for my screaming and yelling). The entire day was just magic…

A little about me
Thanks for dropping by.
I’m your classic runner turned newbie cyclist.

For years I feared riding a bike – I was afraid of traffic, clipping in, couldn’t get my head around lycra, chamois cream and clambering up hills on a bike.

I didn’t believe that riding a bike would give me the same de-stress, mental download or sense of freedom that life as a long distance runner had given me before my knees ground to dust.

Fast forward to 2021 and picking up a second hand CAAD10 changed my life for the better. Not just physically and mentally. But also providing a sense of community and belonging – which is magic. The cycling community is just magic.

So I’m here. To hopefully inspire others to not fear the bike – the lycra, the clipping in. And come share the passion, freedom and indescribable joy that comes from being on the bike. I truly believe that the bike life is the best life and everyone should be able to enjoy it.

good morning it’s now Sunday um I am coming to you from what I think might be cyclist and ski Paradise the view from our bedroom this morning was this let me show you oh my God you actually made me FR myself my C have actually gone into cardiac arrest oh we’ve just had the strongest coffee now it’s not H anyway here’s the view look at this obviously there’s a little bit going on there but mountains look at that ski slope ski run we’re not skiers but I’ve just been wondering if you flying down that like are you slamming into the house I don’t know it is phenomenal it’s quite crisp but the sun is out um this is Hotel uh fivia in bour bouro um we came and stayed here last year and is one of our favorite places to stay they’ve actually done some um gorgeous work on the rooms so they’ve put us in one of the newly decorated bedrooms which is I can only describe it as like a mini apartment like in London this would be millions of pounds um yeah I will show you I’ll do you a quick room tour while it’s still semi decent so this is one of our balconies we’ve got another one over on the other side in here we’ got a little Lounge safe um Gym gear so a box and an area to kind of do weights do some moves um it is just gorgeous let me see if I can get the light something in here there we go that’s a bit better they also left us some uh very kind praco look at that jier saki very nice touch little wardrobe area here which obviously we’ put all our cycling gear in absolutely gorgeous and then here is our like entrance way hallway really nice L of storage these boxes are hiding all our baky bits in there’s just so much room hello little mirror going to be doing all my sa outfits shower room that shower it changed my life this morning it was like fullon like just brilliant really nice and spacious all the beauty bits and then a separate toilet is great cheapy little bead absolutely love them bedroom hopefully he’s not Ling in here just through these little slidy doors is in here and that bed that’s I think that’s one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in like it reminds us of our bedroom our bed at home um it’s got a mattress topper on it that was just phenomenal um so yeah look and then we were able to get a bit of YouTube on the tally last night to catch up with uh the Jer and then here second balcony here he is spook so yeah it’s just gorgeous like absolutely lovely and the location means that we are um well we’re in bouro so basically stelvio is kind of over that way oh god look even more Mountains amazing still snow covered so do think it’s going to be quite chilly um yeah over that way is like I think is that way bour 2000 3,000 up there all right there it is um yeah stalia is kind of up there we’re basically surrounded by climbs so not sure of kind of options obviously stalia would normally be open I think of this time wouldn’t it like snow would are cleared but yeah we wouldn’t be going to top that we are now off to go and get our bikes H I think we’re picking up a couple of track bikes just a few meters down the road as well so very handy just collecting our bikes we’ve come to this place again which you can to last time um and we had a pair of lovely tracks and we got them again lovely lovely track and moners we’ve got the same um excited about there are so many different types in there including ebikes as well I’ve had a lot of questions about coming to places and being able to hire ebikes so this has got tons I’ll just do a quick Riz around the shop cuz he said I could have a little nosy and share it with you basically lots of bits and pieces in here there’s lots of gels equipment and snacks and get some BS look at this amazing tricky as just told me a really horrible start really horrible meme about this little hul don’t even don’t even want to talk about here anyway also loads ofing equipment got the lights shoes there’s also even a cheeky little bar area at the back which is sell coffee you could possibly think of in here uh so we’ve got the bikes for a couple of days um there’s also e bikes at the back look at all the tracks look at these absolute Beauties there’s the bar even more hello oh wow this is brilliant Dale items and then Saddles kids bikes so there’s something for the whole family look at this so if you come without stuff this is actually this is actually so handy cuz I have come with a couple of jacket kit but it’s obviously very cold here at the moment and we’ll be St the mountains uh there is kit also for sale Saddles handlebars literally everything you can think of which is amazing more chunky ebites so yeah basically got it all including changing rooms which I hadn’t even seen before so that’s great um even oh wow oh underwear I thought it was pants I was going to say I thought that was a no no okaying off a bit of group riding this morning so stalia man the guy who owns Hotel F year uh has actually kind stelvio God I want to get a start right think over 500 times anyway he knows everything there is to know about this area the climes in case you can’t tell we’re on one it’s currently sitting at 11% so yeah he’s taking us St to find a nice spot to watch air put a v of our winter bits and pieces up there so I’m not carrying everything I do feel like I’ve wor a lot of Ls first side of the jir gosh the mountain views it’s basically what I showed you out the bedroom window before but now I’m on them it’s unreal the legs are firing up I tell you that look at that amazing [Music] come for a little coffee [Music] start guys um we have just ridden past a giant Sid such a big which has Honestly made our day oh my God there’s like there’s like buses and like oh you’re not going to see one now but we’ve seen like team buses going past there’s been some little pink balloons it is like full on jro spirit I am buzzing we’re going to get a little coffee start this is ISA I think Isa here we go oh yeah I tucked it in yeah so getting an espresso our bikes it’s quite a big Squad that’s rolled out today of different levels different um Paces so very very chilled ride up to top where I think I said before the van is waiting with all our kind of winter gearing um so yeah buzzing there Ste man living the dream we are now on the main climb look at this amazing the views are unreal crowd’s starting to come out I think it’s about 15K maybe 11 12 not sure not too sure in the gradient CH doesn’t look too bad but couple of chunks of dark red unreal about 7K to go okay Italian clim is hit different I think it’s the Alpine Air it’s [Music] stunning oh my goodness step change look at that oh my gosh words cannot describe unbelievable I don’t think I’m too far from the top looks like I’ve still got beasty climb but I’m not sure what’s in the Garin to second clim on and now to go down this about 5k it’s quite busy with traffic so I’m going to concentrate on going down safely because I’m on a higher bik um the brakes are on the other side and I need to remember what I’m doing quite frankly so I’m not going to be danger riding neither are you people up there where best SE in the house H H last 2 kilm to go go looks quite spicy near the end probably can’t see that chunk of black let’s [Music] go so this is nearly the T um there was meant to be I think two more is it two more K two more CL I wonder there’s still people going up the stairless of the skis that is hilarious yeah two more k um and that’s where the spicy bit of the climb was so I was going to go up and carry on it is quite crowd of people but I think they’ve actually closed the road off now so we’re too late the part’s kicking off here already we’ got the J on the talian there just missed um and we’re going to see what food options there are get some snack and then go back to the viewing spot in the sun it’s phenomenal look at that this is where I’ve just been coming down a little barain van there do you mind us [Music] y love it look at the incredible views just gorgeous everyone’s Spirits are so high like honestly the vibe down there was absolutely pumping it’s also pumping all the way back up now all the team cars are starting to come down the Vans are coming down I feel like I’ve just been getting Goosebumps thinking about the pros like flying through here like it’s just it’s just mad isn’t it um this road as well apparently was being tarmacked as late as like I think a couple of days ago I don’t want to say last night cuz I don’t know if it was that b extreme but yeah definitely fresh tarmac being laid just for the benefits of this um stage today and honestly we’re riding on some of it and it is buttery smooth you can still smell the tarmac like it is it’s really nice it’s it’s really lovely it’s buttery delicious which feels so weird but I know you’ll understand um I’ve just got a small tiny little incline left to kind of get back up to the van and um the team who have put on a bit of food for us so some snack bar some water and then we’re going to settle in to watch the pros do their thing so first up this is the EO y up up [Applause] up good y woohoo up up up yeah go go go go go yay [Music] oh it’s got SC just saved that Go’s life Al go go go go [Applause] [Music] oh my God oh my go go go go go go go go go that was amazing go go go go go [Music] [Applause] where’s go go go oh o o very sticky YY hey hey hey oh my God that was so good we literally just saw G we just saw pug we just saw it all oh my God oh my God my face actually hurt to show that was so freaking cool so cool felt like so close as well oh my God this is just the actual best looking good from me do you think he was looking fresh she was looking very fresh you had your flag out huh you had the flag out oh my God it is unreal my dream I reckon my dreams to be in that helicopter you know or a team car a team car can you imagine oh my God so good pogy oh was out front flying POG he going fast he was on the move he was on the Move he’s only 30 seconds behind him I think was 30 seconds oh that was brilliant oh my God my skin is electricy shorts
