    1. The mini you refer to is more like a cabin where a person in a weelchair can wheel into, and then drive it sort of like a car moped, their max speed limit is 45Km/h set internally in the engine, so they're as safe to use on bicycle paths as mopeds. These disability vehicles got special certifications and register numbers for its use only, and you are forbidden to drive with them on the open car road.

    2. from the Netherlands thanks for the video SR .
that older and less mobile people can still safely get their own groceries, for example, is very important on more points than you might think.
this group of people stay busy because of this so they have a goal / daytime activity. because they keep moving, they need less help or nursing, so less pressure on healthcare staff and healthcare costs. they are less lonely because they can go independently to acquaintances or something nearby.
most mobility scooters have a range of 40 to 60 km, so they can move well even if they only drive a maximum of 15 km/h (also the average bicycle speed in the Netherlands).
the wheelchairs with that hand movement are called hand-bikes that is say a bicycle front wheel with a piece of bar that you click on the wheelchair.
that wheelchair bicycle works almost the same as the bicycle clicks at the back of the wheelchair then you tilt the wheelchair backwards slightly from 15 degrees until it clicks into that position so that the small front wheels come off the ground and you can cycle away.
      Sincerely Hollandduck from the Netherlands

    3. 2.28 I see one like that here often. But the wheelchair can be disconnected from the E-bike part. It's a great system for people who are in a wheelchair and can't cycle themselves. The young man I see here in town is severely handicapped, physically and mentally but obviously loves his bicycle trips.

    4. The tiny car is really tiny, it's more or less an electric bike with a roof. It's no problem for them being on the cycling path, it's not safe for them on the normal road.

    5. 4.55 that's a normal wheelchair that can be connected to a bicycle part that's been 'moved' by using the arms. Those mostly are e-bikes too nowadays. They are very cool because the persons in the wheelchair can disconnect the bike part themselves and go into the supermarket leaving the bike part outside. Then when they're done they just click the parts together again and they're on their way. I've seen that many times and it's really fast. Click, go.

    6. Good thing is when you need a scooter or a special bike we have a system that's called WMO (Wet Maatschappelijk Ondersteuning), in English Law Social Support. When someone needs a wheelchair or a scooter or something you can apply for one. Depending on your income you have to pay a small amount of money every month. I think the max is 20 euros or something. But they also help you with housekeeping or even shopping if you need that or special things in the house etc etc etc. A normal wheelchair as far as I know is free. I have one because I needed a wheelchair for a while and it's even completely made for me. I never had to pay a penny for that. I still use it now and then.

    7. BicycleDutch is a great channel for bicycle infrastructure in the Netherlands. With good and honest videos on new developments and improvements. Really worth looking at when you are interested in anything with bicycles. He also has some videos about other countries. He is from my home town and I recognize every street and situation in this video, but he visits other cities as well, countrywide, when something new has to be shown. Very much recommended!

Everything is in English so there is no language barrier. And every video has a blog attached to it in which you can read all details and background info, with maps etc. Also in English, and top quality.

    8. My son, 36 years old, has been using a wheelchair his entire life. He also has a so-called handbike, like you saw in the video. It allows him to go almost anywhere he wants to go. I would hate to see him locked up inside his house the whole day, luckily in the Netherlands he doesn't have to.
Cycling infrastructure is indeed great for disabled people.

    9. There are a lot of wheel chairs and bikes that have a special option to click in a bicycle wheel paddles or even a rear conection to conect to another cargo bike . Mobility is one of the main things , just imagine you have to ask for help for simple task like groceries or visiting family just 3 km away. Its verry frustrating , these bikes gives them the freedom and mobility to do it them selfs.

This is not bike related. but also quite a big thing , there are many initiatives where people with a handicap or mental disability , down syndrom , brain damage , etc . Have a job like any one els . There are cafes, restaurants, bakerys , cycling shops , grocery shops etc etc .
Its all about including people , in society the video of Baarle hartog , baarle nassau ( belgian dutch town with so many boarders ) they pass Brownies and Downies , its a chain of cafes/ restaurants that is run with people with down syndrome.
And i can truely say , they are one of the best places to get a coffee and something to eat. If your ever in the netherlands please visit one of those cafes restaurants as you wont regret it and you will always leave with a good warm feeling of happines.

    10. At about 3:40 in. It is not a mini, it is a small handicapped vehicle. It is small not very wide, and made to fit bike lanes. Their speed limit is 45km/h but normally they won't go over 30km/h and they can most of the time not use normal streets, besides bike lanes in the first place. They are the exception for 4 wheel vehicles on bike lanes though, and most people on bikes either go at equal or harder speed as they do. So nobody really has a problem with them.

    11. The netherlands has 35,000 kilometers of bicycle paths. They are also safe for young and old. That is why people like to cycle here. Also for the handicapped people, they have fantastic transport. That's so normal, you respect each other. This video shows it clearly. And the infrastructure here is fine.
      Thanks 😇🙋🏼‍♀️🇳🇱

    12. Can you believe that in a vlog presentation over cycling in Seattle compare to the Dutch system a guy said that Dutch cycles are not so advanced as in the US 🤣🤣🤣 that guy has a lot to learn.

    13. Thats the funny thing. People see the dutch infrastructure and think "bicycles" cause its the most unusual. But the infrastructure is for everyone…the weaker members in traffic are protected. Thats not just bicycles but pedestrians and lesser abled people as well. Its a society for everyone…rich/poor, young/old, able/lesser abled. Thats how it should be really. Everyone can have the freedom to go where they want to in safety.

    14. They are looking for a new system to dijde traffic.
      Bike lanes up to 25km/hour

Everything above that Goes on carlanes.
This would also mean electric bikes and wielrenners.

People on electric bikes…specialy the 65+ people…are causing major Numbers of crashes And end up in hospitals.
Numbers of deaths among this Group is going trough the roof.

Electric bikes Can easy make steeds up to 55km/ hour.

Old people cant handle that anymore due to slower reaction speed.
