It’s a common misconception that you don’t need to obey temporary red lights at a construction site like this, but that would be so wrong.

    1. He thought he got a way with it and know he is wondering who reported him and little did he know it was a cyclist who did not jump the red lights.

    2. What do you do if they don’t change? In this case they did. But occasionally you do end up with a set which is faulty and stays red. Particularly at night time when there’s nobody working to intervene if the temp lights aren’t working

    3. Good.
No driver with half a clue would have stopped where he did at the red light – how would anyone coming through be able to get through the gap he left? Anyway, traffic lights, temporary or otherwise, should not be optional, which is what seems to be happening more and more.

I like the way you pre-empt the donkey comments about riding in the park, etc, at the end of your videos. I bet they still crop up though.

    4. Funnily enough I had to jump a set of these. It was two way, on a quiet road on a motorbike. After several minutes, waving my arm around, flashing my lights and moving back and forth, the bloody sensor would not pick up I was there! In the end I had to go through. Thankfully, I could see the other end of the lights and there was no one coming!
I can only imagine its even worse on a bicycle.

    5. You MUST obey all traffic light signals (see 'Light signals controlling traffic') and traffic signs giving orders, including temporary signals & signs (see 'Traffic signs'). Highway Code, Rule 109. Any other instruction regarding traffic lights would be idiotic, since it would invite collisions to occur.

    6. He should wait the few seconds like everyone else. Parking is also prohibited on double yellow line. And he should have seen the biker with the camera behind him. The driver’s third offense was not being aware of the surroundings. Three offenses on less than two minutes. This driver needs a driver awareness course. Good job! 👏

    7. Not condoning the RLJing but the position that driver was initially waiting in doesn't give much / any room for oncoming vehicles to pass, considering the parked cars there. See at around 0:39. I know there's a sign that reads "Wait here until green light shows" but given the situation with parked cars on both sides, I wouldn't be taking that too literally. Instead I would have waited before the parked cars so as to leave more room. "Sensors won't know you're there" you say. Then if after waiting a while and the lights still not changing, I'd then move up, providing no oncoming traffic.

I also have to wonder if those temporary lights were even necessary, given the short distance of the obstruction, the very quiet neighborhood and the aforementioned issues they'd cause with parked cars so nearby. Why didn't they at least put a temporary ban on parking so close to the lights?

    8. How about providing a bit of balance? Show the numerous cyclists not just jumping but deliberately riding through red lights and weaving dangerously through traffic. Or are you that biased that you cannot face reality?!

    9. Curious as to which direction that driver headed to afterwards? Was it in the direction they were facing or did they actually do an anti clockwise U turn to head back the way they came…and possibly run a red light again. And if they headed back the other way, would have made more sense to do the U turn clockwise.

    10. It also wasn't a particularly good idea for the car driver to cross over to the wrong side of the street right on the approach to a 90 degree bend to the left.
Re the double yellow lines: My understanding is that if you are briefly dropping off or picking up passengers (as opposed to "parking") then that part is at least legal. Different story if it was a red route or some kind of "No Stopping" area. It's more the moving across to the wrong side of the road on a left hand bend that I consider unwise.

    11. Why did they stop for the red light? I would have gone straight through.
Temporary traffic lights have different laws to permanent ones. This looked perfectly law abiding to me.
Unless the laws have changed, if anyone can correct me, I'd love to know before I fall foul of it.

    12. There should have been a few more cones blocking off the parking on the 'wait here' side? Straightforward inexcusable RLJ, but terrible temporary setup.

    13. First name Last name: behaving well isn’t a cause either, or maybe you think when you behave well, if you do, that you are doing something special that deserves extra praise?
If that’s the case you are a sad individual.

    14. If everyone that committed a minor violation was filmed and got the points, we’d be at net zero by the end of this decade.
There’s far more worthy motoring offences than the one shown, you’re just profiteering.
