In the heart of picturesque Montmartre, Paris, the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup unfolded with thrilling battles on an action-packed race course. The cobblestone streets and iconic landmarks set the stage for an exciting competition that had spectators on the edge of their seats at the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. In conclusion, the UEC European Champion, Ede-Karoly Molnar, claimed his maiden UCI World Cup victory in an intense final sprint, while German Champion Marion Fromberger stormed to victory to claim the season’s first UCI World Cup leader’s jersey.

The energy of the crowd added an extra layer of excitement to the season opener, creating a truly unforgettable experience for both athletes and spectators. As soon as the individual time trials started, it was nothing short of intense, as the riders had to tackle a challenging race course on the cobblestones of Montmartre, Paris.

Marion Fromberger shines in early season success

After setting the fastest time in the qualifying time trials, the German champion Marion Fromberger impressed throughout all heats, to ultimately shine in the big finals, in what was an exciting battle with the UCI World Champion Gaia Tormena in the women’s race.

Italy’s Gaia Tormena put up a strong fight, demonstrating her remarkable skill throughout the race, but Marion Fromberger didn’t give up and they both went neck-to-neck. The German champion’s decisive move after the uphill pushed her ahead of the competition, holding on to her position, and ultimately clinching the top spot, with Gaia Tormena securing a well-deserved second place.

French rider Margaux Borrelly surprised the home crowds and finished in a respectable third place, while Annemoon van Dienst from the Netherlands had to settle for fourth place. The Pan American champion Iara Caetano Leite won the small finals and completed the top five.

Ede-Karoly Molnar claims his maiden UCI World Cup victory

Thibaut Kahlhoven had a brilliant start in the men’s qualifying time trials on home soil, as he set the fastest time, but got ruled out in a tight sprint among Ede-Karoly Molnar and fellow French rider Loïc Tournillon in the quarter-finals.

In the men’s finale, Ede-Karoly Molnar impressed yet again with a sensational performance, claiming his first-ever UCI World Cup victory in an extremely tight sprint battle. Molnar faced stiff competition from Edvin Lindh of Sweden, and the Slovenian champion Jakob Klemencic. With a powerful bike throw across the finish line, he secured a historic win ahead of Edvin Lindh. The Slovenian champion, Jakob Klemencic, had to settle for third place, while Titouan Perrin-Ganier, the UCI World Champion, was cheered on as he finished in fourth place.

Titouan Perrin-Ganier commented: ‘The races were extremely hard, but the enthusiastic crowds and iconic race venue in my home country made it a truly unforgettable spectacle, so I can be very happy after today. It’s just the beginning of the season, so let’s focus on the next round in Barcelona.” Perrin-Ganier’s teammate Simon Gegenheimer won the small finals and rounded off the podium in 5th place.

“It went really well, I didn’t expect to make such a good start to the season”, Marion Fromberger smiled. “It’s amazing to win in Paris on this scenic venue in front of the Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre. I’m happy to wear the first leader’s jersey, but it was a tough battle, as Gaia Tormena made it such a hard race. After coming down the stairs section, I thought the race was over, but I kept pushing and it went well.”

“I think it’s one of the best days of my life. I finally won a UCI World Cup. I’m looking forward to defending my leader’s jersey, but it’s also the first race, so anything can happen in the coming rounds, but I’ll do my best”, Ede-Karoly Molnar enjoyed his win. “It feels very special to win my first UCI World Cup round in the UEC European Champion jersey. I can’t wait for the remainder of the season.”

[Music] hello and welcome to the first round of the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup for 2024 with me Emma Martin and me Matt Payne well it’s the first of eight rounds of the World Cup this year and we’re coming to you from Paris the city that will host this Summer’s Olympic Games in July well for today however we’ have two world champions looking for a top spot in the 24 season openers Matt take us through this course so out from the start gate it’s a very quick run over an AB line fast straight line off the drop off 60 cm drop wide line but into this key feature down the stairs you can’t use a flatter section on the left it’s a steep drop all the way to the bottom wide line here and into one of two possible overtaking options the first one is on this long climb you can see dragging its way up into this turn you need to have made you move by the turn because it tightens around here this is the steepest part of the hill then take another right turn and as we go right here this is the second opportunity between here and the summit Direct ly in front of the Basilica before he drop down over the jump over that drop off and down into the Finishing Line as you can see long overtaking spaces really wide course lots of Spectators but with the a b line and we’re going to go down the B line here being so close to that Finishing Line having the bottle to go over the top is going to be rewarded with the finishing champagne let’s see if they’re going to take it away that’s the cor it’s looking a cracker yeah and the Finish Line right on that Basilica to Sac Cur today and we can see already the time trial results for the women from Burger sing the fastest time from the current reigning world champion guia TOA three of the second back vanin in third place now interestingly the young Rider Hannah Beck went out during that time so not qualifying for the quarterfinals but the four Heats for the quarterfinals in front of you and that is how we are going to roll first thing today so from Burger La clure and Samo are going to be the first Riders going in that heat mat it’s two Riders through two Riders out to move through from our quarterfinals to our semi-finals glour in the red lman in that blue in the white with the German Stripes it’s frur and you can see just on the outside there we have S of Brazil now start is critical to get into those steps first away we go and at the moment frer with the quick start there in the German strip but look at close your go she’s been riding really really strongly throughout the winter on cyclo Cross C very quickly over the two Riders taking the a line dropping in into first and what should be third oh it’s to Elbow coming in though that was so close coming down but it’s going to be clure who leads him down from fromberger fromberger with the fast time during the time trial that took through our leading 16 Riders at the moment the battle is between first and second place here because at the moment the third place Rider at the moment which is laen trying to get back in touch really fighting to get on the wheel with fber at the moment it looks to me like Al Mo just in a little bit of trouble further back but this is two laps remember so it’s very easy to go too hard too soon big luck over the shoulder there from fromberger in second position at the moment the lead in the rical inclosure of France on own territory over the a line as goes lman and fber taking the more circumspect approach I wonder whether they she do that on the run into the Finish key here is to be in positions one or two when you come to the Finishing Line and at the moment clure down followed by fromberger but look how close so Moy has come she really has made a move at the right time has she got the power now to come back up on to the heels here two leaders two Chasers and a big push from Norman coming up she wants to be in position to to take advantage and the two leaders can’t relax too much here as we come around this tight right hand turn we’re going to come into it now if they take it too easily then they’re going to be closed down now for Riders they separated their back together and you can see now lman goes up on the inside of rber trying to push trying to get a little bit of a take fromberger moves to the front of the race field now we’re going up towards the summit here it’s a huge huge climb up here on the banks aside here and again fromberger taking the be line down but she has enough lead she goes through but look at that lman is going to go through and closure is taken out lman taking the fast lines riding hard when she needed to and that is going to put colen clour out s in fourth place well that was really interesting wasn’t it CU K LED that from the start but she didn’t make it through to qualifier finishing in third place so fromberger and laurman through the seat number two belli from France basier from France shenberger andio so we we go on race number two of our quarterfinals here the second and all four rers coming into that a line it’s going to be a tight squeeze remember into those steps is key being in first or second place but you in PR position oh big squeeze going on as they Dro down now L of they take this big descent you can see the Riders having to be careful as they make the way down to Wars the bottom here soio schenberg and borley almost together as it came into those steps and they’re regrouping down here a Quick Squeeze on by our two riders in third and fourth place there brings them all back together again and we’re going to see a move here on the side Madison barier France looking to push up in the purple and white comes right the outside but that is shoulder to shoulder elbow to there’s no giving away there from costantina XO of Cyprus she’s holding the front of the race in all orange Jersey to match those Forks at the moment looks over a left hand shoulder this is very tight indeed and at the moment the rider at the back that’s Valentine shenberger just staying out of trouble just letting these three tangle maybe saving her energy for the asent back up again that’s going to be key fast in there you could see that was a big big kick here by XO as she was right on the limit of grip it’s allowed her to carry a little bit more Pace out and she’s got a slight Gap here it looks to me like schenberg could be in danger of going out here because she has now been distance it is now three Riders left which two are going through your guess is going to be as good as mine as they go out of sight round that turn they coming to our next camera shot you can see it squeeze over the top here from Margo borley borley in the white shoulders the dark blue Central bouns across her back there as they come around she’s leading out at the moment so it looks like Bly is going to open this up really is pushing on but look at this she’s gone to the side now B goes up over the straight line here joio does the same who’s going to take it oh it looks like we’re going to see Margo Bley and Madison basier go through two fren Riders through the CI Road Jo you out schwarzenberger also the same well schenberg having that problem on the steps and coming unclipped as we line up for Heat number three so we have indeed the Swedish Rider Abramson in one D from the Netherlands into gu TOA the world champion from Italy and then Elena mdam from Denmark rounding out the four so way go our Riders very fast kick off from the line required on the circuit is uphill don’t let the camera angle really flatten it out too much for you it is a really nasty start up here getting grip if it’s slightly down would be a little more tricky no problems for our race leader at the moment the world champion G Mana who has been preparing for the season really hard drops down she’s opening a little bit of a gap at the moment Agnes abon looking good we got Eon in second place we’ve Gotze at the moment fighting in third place and Li make them at the moment in fourth position and it looks to me like did he the will need to squeeze on up a little bit here at the moment the number on the Riders bike indicates their position in the time trial and it shows you at the moment that Diddy de despite that fast time trial she said at the back when she has the pace to be up there for that lap but this is racing this is elbow to Elbow Stu this is with the pressure everyone around you and that is when it’s so easy to make mistakes now three Riders over the a line it’s marginally quicker get it right it’s quicker get it wrong it’s going to be slower Toma not taking any risk right to the edge there you can see she is skirting The Edge the side Nobles on that tire a 2 and 1/2 in wide tire so a 2.4 Tire I think she got a 2.5 she would have been clipping The Edge as she went down that was so tight but absolutely under control and now the Gap starts to open from the world champion back the battling second and third though this is the one to watch out for because this is for that qualifying spot of the moment lean mdom with that number 15 board on has got Diddy D coming around the outside there she’s taking the wide L she’s forcing a wide but de has moved up in towards second place now can they squeeze out mdam to m is not having this all around way they are all around her and now the re is being challenged is she going to get pushed wide here she’s not going to have a lot of room to move as they come down towards the line it’s a tight Sprint in oh that’s going to go to a photo finish I suspect ly MD May well have just got that from Diddy de and then it’s going to be agnesa Ramson who comes through in fourth place so close between mdam and de going to be really interesting 01 of a second at the moment on my screen well I think that’s MD who qualifies and that’s de re from the Netherlands not qualifying so round number four from France IM Brazil Ley Netherlands van and from France cerso so Riders are away this is our final quarterfinal two Riders 3 two Riders not going to make it any further in the competition so our moon van is the rider who’s absolutely flying to Rider who is the number three re board third fastest time in that time trial 1.95 seconds behind Maran fber the fastest Rider and at the moment as they come dropping down you can see that it is going pretty much to form at the moment at the front here am VY taking a look over the shoulders one of our younger Riders and looking very very concentrated across there looking very smoothly over to the left make sure that she knows what’s happening here but the front of the race now being taken by El who has got the lead here from Brazil she’s taking that right hand turn two through so if you in position one you’ve got a little bit of sliding room if you’re in position two you can’t afford to go backwards at all at the moment the fight is on for the Riders to close the gap down leading that charge is Alice IM of France her countrywoman casso also chasing hard but they’ve got to make some ground up here but this compression you can see as they coming real slow off there compare the sent into that by Van’s very very much scrubbing Pace off taking the dip down in the center of those stairs where we saw Tom taking it right to the Limit now will that approach pay off these two Riders are looking to hold back they were looking across inside there the right on the right looking left on the left looking right they can see behind that the chase is on at the moment Al in the yellow fighting to get up there you can see how deep she’s digging her face he’s pulling all kind of as Expressions at the moment trying to suck in all the oxygen she can whilst concentrating on getting on terms here she’s in third place she’s thrown that bike around but at the moment two riders in front and at the moment leading them in it is going to be a lady of Brazil who’s going to lead down to the line here I think indeed she does and you can see there a handshake between liy and Van’s job done they have qualified to go through from quarterfinals into our semi-finals which two through 2 L yeah so our quarterfinals for the women now complete and the women ready to progress to the semi-finals and you can see those Riders qualifying so fromberger and lman borley and basier Lite van TOA and mdom they are the eight Riders who will progress to the semifinals coming up shortly but before then we have the men’s quarterfinals to look forward to now the men’s time trial results went through to the eighth finals these are the results of the eighth finals earlier on and you can see the qualifiers so two qualifiers from each of those eighth finals coming through to the quarterfinals now interestingly the rider who is fifth overall in the World Cup last year shenberger not making it through but these men did indeed make it through to the quarterfinals this is the first heat so here we go first you got to on this the camera then M then Carl and remember we’ve got Shirley in here from Hungary as well he’s already with the web red white and green bands across taking the B line going off to the left hand side at the moment looking to make ground and he has storm through there never mind be Line’s being slower that be line was ballistic it was super fast as it came around there that’s put him into race lead at the moment as they drop down and all of a sudden that really has shaken things up get that beat line right it is not much slower use that line to get the pace down and the speed is going to be really really key now onto the ascent for the first time here at the moment G looking he’s got the bars being thrown absolutely everywhere wants to take the front but look at this carol Mard looking good because Eddie at the moment our European Champion really is opening up the throttle he’s got a little bit of a gap now that left hand line is being taken how much gain he well that was a fourth to second place of being put put in there it really is improving the Riders positions as they drop down and that means that as they come back through telon has used that to his Advantage there’s one more opportunity to use it that’s the Run for the Finish as they make the way over the top of the famous steps here we’re on to the ascendent after all that hard work at the start a giley his socks have blown off he’s absolutely in bits at the back now and it’s the European champion who leads into this right hand turn two more overtaking opportunities I would have said one but after the maneuver that we saw at the start of this race I’m going to make that too as we come up towards the top of the climb and the leader goes for the Bel line here he gambles and goes wide will it pay off for him over the line he goes a Sprint for second place 20 on ahead of car Hoven and G after all that hard work I wonder whether he’s actually got a mechanical issue there because that is a whole different pace well Cal Hoven who set the fastest time in that time tral earlier not qualifying for the semifinals today so coven and giley out molar and toan through Heat number two gag genheimer Hower perin G and kabat so the current world champion on your right hand side former world champion second from the left up against the Austrian and the Romanian here Hower from Austria in the wi jersey with the red bands has been incredibly quick he took away his position in these quarterfinals with a commanding ride in that however this is going to be a whole lot tougher because he’s got Simon gagen Heimer Mr mustache himself he’s on the backs has gagen Heimer whed it aerodynamically enough to descend here at speed has he’s got his teammate and World Champion pering G behind him at the moment the pressure is on the world champion but if you have watched back any of the race if you watched this last season you will know that pering g is the master of the last minute Sprint the last minute maneuver he is somebody who can play his cards super close to his chest and then throw down the ace at the last moment is he going to be able to do this at the moment leading them out Hower right on the front here keeping the power down there’s two Riders now going out to the left hand side they’ve been watching the race and they know that it is pretty much as quick and TimeWise the three have held the same position pretty much there is 57 of a second covering the first three as they go over the line for the first time what will it be on the second time at the moment it looks to me like Edward Kat is going to be out of contention here for Romania the at least three Riders the world champion in those iconic rainbow Stripes at the back gegenheimer the man in black pushes over the top his teammate is coming as well now they did this in the eighth finals they both pushed through in the very last stages can they keep the power down can they box out The Man Behind G gimer almost comes off the power there and it looks like pering G is going to go through I think that door has been left open by gagen Heimer and gagen Heimer and pering G they working over Hower to push him out of contention so pering G and gimer probably the two favorites today going through in that heat as we line up quickly for the next clausman plus Lind and reer lined up and ready to go so reer with a very fast start Lind super quick overall but watch out for classman big spit that Yale plus he put in a phenomenal time in that time trial coming in the top 10 Netherlands Rider very quick but not as fast Off the Mark as the first starting classman who we know has a phenomenal Sprint the German leading the three Riders over the a line the man in Black just dropping in behind Nils OED Ro of Germany another regular ride on the scene for a lot of years now he’s one of those Riders who knows it’s inside out he’s going to want to move up though he won’t want to lose any ground and this is a Kia race here at the moment claer man has gone off the gas here he shut it right down he’s not quite on tick over here but a little bit of recovery now gets out the saddle ready to respond if anybody’s going to kick into this right hand turn behind him the Riders are watching they don’t want to go too early they’ve seen Riders blow up remember the race time’s here we are talking 1 minute 30 30 this is an intense effort all the way through and that means it’s going be very very difficult for the Riders to recover if they go in the Red Zone too early but you can’t nail it the entire way around getting this right is key now over the top goes raiky drops in big desent coming down here great move by him it’s now put him in position one he’s got a little bit of sliding room because Lind is in two at the moment and clamman after leading them off from the straight is now dropped into three the Gap start to open up here will they push this home I’m not sure that the leaders have the power at the moment here in Paris to do that and look at this they’re mobbing around the outside cloudman has come from three to one he’s moved up Lynn’s gotone into second place and we’ve still got this long drag into the Finish to go round the turn they go is this going to be a forward sprit which line choices are they going to take when they go through the a line Lynn comes over the top Lynn wants to go down that b line as well as classman and one of them could lose out here this could cost them dear kman Sprints he almost takes out the back wheel of in there but he gets into second place Lind and kusman ahead of plus and R oh plus and R going out Lind and klusman going through lined up and ready to go it’s clemi SES mayor and zoie with 15 seconds to go so our man on the Classic Bike in this historic race venue takes the board across the Riders are away as they kick off this the final one of our quarterfinals two Riders who’s going to be the last two Riders through they take that left hand turn all four Riders going over the ramp there with zoie the rider at the back there with the orange base to his jersey the white shoulders down onto these famous steps dropping down from the Sak going to take the right hand turn here as they come around at the moment you can see that the French Champion Lorenzo s is just moving up on the left hand side there little look across at mayor they just taking a little bit of a check across at CL menic they don’t want to let this Gap go and so’s now taking it on he’s gone from fourth into first place they are exchanging places for fun here at the moment but they know that they need to have the power at the right time SAR Tres to go through the Gap there but kenic had boxed him out he’d already been accelerating up and S is going to sit in fourth place here as they come down into the stairs they coming in pretty hot here as they come around that turn they’re going to use most of that not quite yet up to to gor Mana standers of nailing it to that Noble of the edge but still pretty close now this is the final Ascent up here of this heat this is where you got to make move sis goes on the left hand side he’s pushing will he make it is he going to come into sight will the French Champion come through first he does you can see Tong out at the moment he’s given it everything he’s ning wor than Winston in the back of your car as he comes around that turn he takes that right hand turn look at the bikes going everywhere if he put those WS into going forward he’d be miles ahead but behind him Glen’s looking super neat he goes on the left hand side zoie could be out of this but Sarah pushes himself so deep there to get through into the front he gets the clation there for coming through and beat him zobe in three and is going to put May in four great racing it was indeed great racing so Riders needing Hearts lungs and brains for that qualification process today because 60 Riders now down to 16 for our semi-finals and the eight men qualifying molard telan pering G gagen Heimer series clench Lind and clausman joining those eight women who qualified for the semifinals as well wow it has been great racing already so let’s take a little bit of a look back at some of the action we’ve seen already one of the things I’ve taken away from this em is that any of our preconceptions I mean this might be the first time we’ve had a fully cobbled race uh any anywhere pretty much where it’s all CS apart from maybe the ramp is pretty much the only bit but it really doesn’t mean that this is a nailed Dawn you can overtake in only one or two spots which is what we thought initially you’ve got lots more overtaking places that you thought guy TOA she’s using all the course we’ve seen some Riders much more conservative in their descent aren’t we on the way down and that is risky we’ve seen Tom in previous Seasons crash out yeah we have indeed and schenberg not getting the entry to that set steps correct and really overcooking it and causing her all sorts of problems in the qualification heat now CH looking really strong you know the last time we were on air was November 4 the world championships and she was dominant there she’s looking like she’s dominant here but really interesting to see some of the Riders we would expect to put in good performances going out and others really having to work hard to get that qualification slot indeed and we’ve seen team tactics coming in play as well we saw that between per G and S gam teammates good friends on the bike worked really hard they had Houser in front of them and they Ed team tactics so it’s a real mix here we’ve seen team tactics in the racing we SE positioning we SE technical skills coming to the four great great course here in what is a very historic venue yeah it is indeed and you know 11 million pilgrims and visitors each year to the Sacra Cur not that many in the crowd today but still still a lot of cheering art Riders on so semi-finals the women Heat number one fromberger basier laurman and borley Heat number two Toma vanis Le and mnam our first four Riders lined up lurman in one basier in two fromberger in three and borly in four so time to see which two Riders from the first fin semi-finals are going to take this away from Burg’s had a good start but I tell you something Madison boier has been absolutely flying she came in through to this on great form she had a good win through train including skiing and some cross country skiing we’ll see whether she has got the right mix here and is using her energy in the right way remember the key thing is to qualify and move through not necessarily taking the win here because you need that energy for your next round if you make it through lman though looks incredibly strong she’s sitting in wheel number three at the moment as they come around the turn and the rider who has been quietest is Margot borley but that often is not an indication She’s suffering that’s an indication she’s saving it because she put a lot out there early on in the previous race but she used it at the right time to come through now at the moment it is the legend is Marian fromberger fromberger one of the real Staples part of the furniture when it comes to xce elimination racing because she has shown that she really does enjoy this format she’s prepared to put her skin body Blood Sweat and Tears on the line last minute Choice there by basier she saw that the pace had come off a little bit there and that meant that she went off to the side it didn’t pay off for her though but she’s still in contention now fromberger leading down into the lman in two it’s going to leave a lot of work now for Bley and boier they the riders in three and four but they have closed down again so tactical here and this could be coming down for a Sprint B just starting to wind it up on the right hand side how late dare they leave this move how fast do they want to go into that finishing straight is starting to pick its way up here led by Margo borly lman comes up on the inside trying to push up on the fromberger but she only succeeds in taking the place from barier at the moment which means she’s still in danger as they come on now all of a sudden B out the sdle sits back down against puts a squeeze on fromberger fromberg is going I’m not going down the side there I’m taking that right hand turn and borley really meant for rber had to work be very smart she pushes through lman coming out of the outside and basier coming down to complete the four tight racing there because fromberg and master of energy management nearly getting caught out on the line there as we line up for the second semi-final so mdom uh TOA van and Lite are Riders lined up and ready to go so the world Champion want to lead them in she likes racing from the front she wants a clean line if she gets a little bit jostled then it’s the way to cause the problems at the moment as they go through the pidgeys go flying out the way of the course here the Riders are coming through and this is going to be a tight entry behind and there is a Jam at the top they came in side by side there’s only room for one at a time down those stairs and at the moment Toma now come back off this is going to make life easy and you can see the issues they’re having to run down the stairs to the mid Landing point it has caused problems for the Riders behind and this means you got to get clipped in you don’t want to get those bars turnning side going to go over now big problems behind so Toma leading this through at the moment and it looks like vanis the first Rider to pick herself back up from that tangle vanis came in she Tangled with Lite those were the two Riders who were coming into the top from what I could see as they came into those stairs we’re going to see whether or not that goes and of course whether or not our comair our race referees who cover the sport are going to do anything about that now Toma can Cruise her way in and through behind van knows that she can take it a little bit steady I think but she knows she’s the nearest Rider but Toma will be being told back off now take it easy there is no need to go crazy the full contct because she was alongside Al Moon van I don’t think that there was any Foul Play there but the commissaires were right beside them there and our race referees will be looking we have seen ryers been relegated before we’ll have to see where the justice is in this but it looks like it’s going to be served because it is going to be tomain and Van going through it is and joining Bley and fromer in that main final later today the small final for places fifth through to eth will be first up but for then the men’s semifinal heat one and Heat number two well it’ll be heat one first and the men are lining up with the 15c board it’s telan from France gagen Heimer from Germany molar from Romania and pering G from France so two frenan in this the first of our semi-finals two runers going through and they’re not necessarily going to give this absolutely everything coming in because they know how hard they were having to work in the second second half all of the uh quarterfinals get through to the semi-finals dropping in at the moment the race is going to be led through at the moment it is going to be the European Champion with the I jersey with those gold stars leading out the even more iconic rainbow strikes behind both the European and world champions in this race got former world champion in there in gakenheimer at the moment sonon probably the rer thinking maybe I like some St on a jersey as well well is he going to be able to do that this season we’ve got a fantastic season of racing as they start to wind up coming up over the top here they’re making the way around those turns and we’re going to be head to irand in Germany for those World Championships to be a really interesting set of races there always spectacular and it’s on gagen Homer’s home track will he be able to snatch the back be the first time as they come down the stairs they take that right hand turn at the moment G could potentially be in trouble here because it’s being wound up on the front Mona opening this up he’s got pering G behind him he’s in a position to go over the top and at the moment Simon gagen Heimer was nearly a second behind on the line he’s having to make a move he dangerous is with the two Riders beside him he’s looking across they’re both going to take that left hand line it looks to be the safer and quicker line when you’re coming down into the finish and going to find himself in the small final of final semi-final heat clemi SES Lind and clausman lined up and ready to go so here we go last chance to get into those finals two Riders left to get themselves in who’s it going to be watch out for the fast start from classman on the far side but he’s up against a whole raft of fast Riders and basically all going to be able to put the throttle down and classman gets pushed into fourth place big quick off kick off the line by Clemen former European Champion leading them down and he’s going to go into the front here behind him edin Lind looking good Lind is very quick overall he’s not necessarily the fastest Sprinter but he’s an incredibly quick Rider and he’s making his way in second wheel at the moment four riders coming up klusman just playing this smart behind Lorenzo sah so a moment as they go up Clemen in one in two it’s Lind then it’s Ser in three behind in four is Clansman they are the Riders as they come up here and Clement he’s looking over his shoulder he knows that that threat is going to materialize but when will it happen when is the pressure going to be applied behind when are they going to make their move the moment he’s doing the work up in the front he’s looking to his left he’s looking to his right well they’re behind you sunshine at the moment they are the biggest Shadow you are going to see all day as they come over the top here because they are starting to drop in and through and at the moment classman just sitting back a little that is not I think because he’s struggling I think he’s lining himself up to carry a bit more Pace off here and to try and take some Pace from that downhill instead of having to break on his way through now here he comes he takes the run off that downhill off that descent he didn’t have to break he left himself some room for maneuver he’s going to kick in here and he’s made his way up into second position the last qualifying spot at the moment that SES comes out around the outside they’re going to take out the officialy they’re not careful SES goes any wider he’s going to be on the bares he’s got to squeeze in oh it’s so tight and he’s being pushed back lind’s absolutely nailly this and Le come take it through the beig line ly goes through as he got the paase he’s going to take it how did he get through in one piece not only in one piece in top spot Lon Clemen s squeezed out CL out of the running well Lind Clemen I tell you something it might be cloudy in Paris but there’s no dull racing here today because it is neck and neck for those places to get into the main final today now our Riders who are finishing in third and fourth place will be going through to the small final to decide places fifth through to eth the top two riders in each of the semi-finals going through to the main final for first through to Fourth now we’re just taking another look at the fromberger coming down now mat meet fromberger she is a master of that energy management not doing any more than she needs to no she doesn’t and it does cost her I think sometimes because she does take necessarily the risk when she has it has cost her she’s crashed before quite heavily this time you know we’ve seen her go to the front at the right time to may have benefiting from that now if we look into the men’s I think we’ve seen almost the reverse you’ve got to take a risk here because it’s so so close and it did get close I mean we saw Simon gagen Hammer get taken out he will want to be back on form by the end of the season when we going into you know things like the the decisive rounds of the World Cup as well the world championships in his hometown I it’s very interesting to watch this for me though was was possibly the race of the semifinals because it was so so tight coming out and they were watching each other I mean it wasn’t quite track Sprint but when you descend down the stairs one of the key things is we noticed this earlier on in the racing as you come down if you’re too close you’re actually putting the brakes on so you don’t run into the wheels of the rider behind by laying off a little bit giveing yourself some room that we saw class when they he could carry that momentum down and when he then put the power in it allowed him to move up from fourth into second place but he couldn’t make it stick Sarah super Brave going through but who wanted this the most I think clanic wanted it the most or did he ly certainly diving down the side there great racing it was absolutely phenomenal and now we can see the results now so the small final in the women’s was L laurman and mdom the main final from Burger TOA vanin and Bly in the ends the small final SZ gagen Heimer kman and telan in the main final Lind molner Clem and so we’re going to dive straight into the racing over here so here we go into the small final the uh 15 second board goes across it means the RO going start sometime in the next 15 seconds this four positions fifth down remember the points scored here today will go into our initial overall series result and that means that when you go diving onto the city B bike website you’ll be able to get across into those results and you’ll see where these Riders are these four Riders know that those points could be critical come the end of the season so the more points you score now the better it is over the top they go at the moment leading them down in is lman then it’s going to be bosier behind you can just see Le moving up a little H Li make them at the moment she had the power and the pace of Denmark road to get herself into the finals but she hasn’t quite had the pace that maybe what we were expecting but moving onto the back wheel at the moment so here we go mdam moves around the outside she now wants to pick that pace up she wants to keep it hard some Riders want that pace to be hot all the way around make them deciding I’m going to show my face on the front now I want to just try and take a little bit of control here basier grion just trying to hold on to the wheels here of the Denmark Rider from France on home to Follows dead rer to the left and we just saw leite take that right hand line now Elite have learned will she be a little bit more circumspect will she not quite make that same mistake she comes in in third wheel she stays in third wheel at the moment as he dropped down lman is’s losing a little bit of ground into fourth place but I think any one of these four Riders could yet have this now literally the Brazilian just moves on the left hand side goes round W you can see now on the inside that M them may well just be fading a little bit she put that effort in really early to move up into position but she is strong she’s holding this line at the moment she’s holding first place she’s looking to drag strip this right the way from here for one for lap she’s staying on the front at the moment and the place that she’s got you could see an attempt there to Sprint and move around the side there by Lite she got out the settle she sat back down just as quick because there’s no way she was going to go around she’s got the slightly faster line it’s going to come down to a Sprint Le’s going to take away victory in the minor final from mdam from barier and then it is going to be lman fifth sixth seventh and eighth yeah so Lita is going to take fifth place from the small Final mdom in sixth basier in seventh laurman in eighth and the opportunities for overtaking and line choice on this course giving us some phenomenal racing as we line up for the men’s small final so gagen Heimer series clausman and telan lined up and ready to go that 15 second board just waiting for them now if this was a final I wouldn’t want to bet on who was going to take it I don’t want to bet on who’s going to take it this time around no predictions from me that’s for sure if I was sitting on the fence I’d be getting splinters because there’s no way are not like the tourists leisurely perusing they are racing hard and giving those tourists and the pilgrims visiting the Sacra Cur really something to watch this afternoon and this was so tight we see sah get squeezed to the left in the quarterfinals and now in the SE being pushed out into the small finals push barrier to barrier Ser will wonder what everybody’s got against him because he got squeezed at gagen Homer though he wanted that so much he took that away now let’s move from our minor finals to the main final well a line up for the final it’s Boral from France Toma from Italy fromberger from Germany and vanin from the Netherlands this is the women’s final today so this 15 second board sometime in the next 15 seconds our Riders will start here in France who’s going to take it away in Olympic year here the World Cup xce round one we are away to mana and fber are traditionally the two ridders who would be fighting this out but they are joined by vanis and by borly here at from Burger answering the two riders that were separated by three of a second on the one laap time trail that seed on Riders at the start of competition today well it’s about three between them it’s probably less because I think fromberg is overlapping that wheel just moving up on the side reminding TOA she’s there making sure that TOA knows she’s not got this all around way trying to pressurize the world champion into making a mistake Toma now having to look over his shoulder watching to see where fromberger is fber coming in oh I tell you something gor Mana pushes that to the Limit there is anuro Rider she’s got a Sprint Kick on her but so has fromberger and at the moment Toma has company we’re running out of time for her to just solo off to a win fromberger we know we’ll want this she puts her pressure on she comes on the outside just puts the squeeze on now they come around that right handed now fromberger goes TOA looked left and fromberger went right fromberger is going to lead them in she’s opening up a gap she’s gone straight over the top here from Burger absolutely nailing this what a win the German Riders going to take it home from the world champion look at that there men’s Race So clemenc molar lint and perin G lined up for the men’s final let’s see who’s going to take away victory in round one of the UCI mountain bike Eliminator World Cup the XC here let’s see who’s got the pace at the moment that kick off molar going to lead them around he’s going to go straight over the top choosing not to take that left hand line which Lynn takes and at the moment they are still shuffling themselves as to go into this descent they’ve got it sorted out though and it’s going to be a clean run down the stairs for the first time here with pering G the French World Champion on the back wheel at the moment he’s the last man in this train of four right as they come up here faster than the tgv but at the moment they’ve got to get into this turn now a look back behind he looks underneath his armor there a big long look by mner as they come around he doesn’t want Lyn to jump him by surprise pering G has made a move though on the outside he’s looked to take a place he’s only gotone alongside CL menic such is the pace and this time round he’ll go to the left hand side let’s go to the right we’re going to go to the left where we going to go now we’re going to go into the steps pering G puts the pressure on LY he’s going to leave ly with a less than perfect line but ly recovers from that as he dropped down the steps for the last time today we’re now on the kick up who is going to go long who’s going to save this pering G has a phenomenal Sprint on him but you cannot discount any one of these four Riders this could be a four-way Sprint it means that that final AB line with the drop off is going to be tough and the Sprint has been opened up by Muller on the front Clemen coming on the outside pering G tries to come up the inside and Lind is going to hold position by going the tight line on the right hand side he squeezes out he leaves room though for kenic and Lindy’s coming in at PACE lind’s going to be forced into the jump he goes over the drop off has he got the pace to hold it it’s going to be tight it’s going to be almost a photo finish M thinks he’s got it the screen say he’s got it Eddie Mona from Lind from kenic from pering G with the world champion not on the podium but making the final and looks like some big points in the bank for Eddie mullner that was so close 07 seconds at the moment on my screen between molner in one and Lind in two just8 of a second back to kenic in third and pering G finishing in fourth 1.9 seconds back that was phenomenal four up Sprint down that straight and great positioning by molar here molar pushed Lind into the slower line there and he could accelerate one of the things you can’t do you can’t accelerate you can’t get the power down when you go into the air and that’s the problem it might be the shortage line going straight over that drop off but the power could continue to be put down and Lind was able to uh push over the jump but not as much as mner who went down there that was a fantastic result great racing it was indeed so M confirmed in one Lind in two kenic in three and perin g game for this is our women’s flower ceremony and you can see there from burer on the top step with G Mana in two Margot borly in three fantastic racing today that two-up Sprint between fromberger and TOA for that top position and fromberger taking that position today so great racing by our Riders here today you see your top three on there I thought in terms of racing fromberger had it now she she was smart where she put her energy in and look at toa’s face I think she’s wondering where she kind of went wrong there because guia TOA normally would want to start the season with a it’s not to be today well let’s hear from fromberger our winner today yeah Maran what an exciting race what an exciting start to this new season tell us how it went yeah it went really good I didn’t expect such a good start into the season but I’m really happy about it and yeah it’s nice to win in Paris in front of this nice race venue and I’m just really happy about this how it went it was an amazing race NE neck and neck neck to neck with G tmina are you looking to defend and are you happy to wear the first leader Jersey from UC World Cup yes of course I’m happy to wear the first leader Jersey um but I really have to say that guy made a such a strong race I after the St I thought the race is over but I tried to keep on pushing and yeah it went really well it must be very special to win in the German national champion Jersy does this give you extra wings of course yes it’s always good to ride in a white jersey with stripes and yeah it’s always fun thank you very much well it’s going to be great to see the racing between the women in as the season progresses through the eight rounds plus those World Championships from Ireland in Germany in July and will that German Ryder Marian fromberger still be on the top step then well she’s on the top Step at the moment because these are the preliminary World Cup standings after round one from burer TOA van borly Ley basier jio laurman mdom and Dev rounding out the top 10 well we are going to head to our men’s flower ceremony shortly but first of all we should be able to hear from Eddie molard the winner what an amazing race what an amazing start and this is the first race in the European champion jersey after sakaria tell us how to race wi yeah I think is one of the the best things in my life to to win One World Cup is my first World Cup win in U just just this this jersey this J something awesome what are your expectations for the UCR World Cup do we see you going for the UCR World Cup overall standings or what is next on your ambition list yeah is is one one really really weig things say I think it’s the first first World Cup in the in the season and uh and uh one of one of the nicest uh cities here Paris was amazing do you think the crowds in Barcelona will as be as amazing or Paris is better what do you think yeah I see the the track is Chang like uh um I wasn’t when I was the first first championship the first world championship and uh I think will be will be great congratulations on the new UCR World Cup leader Jersey yeah a little bit pressure but I like it thank you well winning the first round of the World Cup in 2024 definitely makes up for the disappointment for the European champion in the world championships back in November 2023 and there he is on the top spot molar lint and Clemen the top three today in the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup from Paris so great racing today I’ve really loved the
