right here we are then at yet another road closure and uh I can reveal this is now my fourth road closure of this journey which should have taken me 20 minutes um I’ve driven past four four road closures the gentleman there at Headway has said I’ve said to him why is the road closed bearing in mind I drove through one of them because the hole was very small I knew the hole would be small and I knew no one would be working went past it the hole is small and nobody is working so why is the road closed said to this gentleman what are they doing up there are the there probably four blocks where the add down a hole how big is the hole half the size of your car so why is the road closed why didn’t you put traffic lights in oh well the council never asked us to put traffic lights in the council asked us to close the roads how many roads have you got closed at the moment well our company has 100 wagons we have so many road closures to manage that we can’t manage it and the council are asking us to do more so all these people who are saying it’s a conspiracy theory they are deliberately trying to disrupt motorists there’s your proof the council do not want TR traffic lights they want the roads closed and they want them everywhere I cannot believe the state of things right now I’m absolutely livid I’ve had enough what what’ you do when you’ve had enough this company works for the council the council are being told by government clearly to close the roads because otherwise they’d put traffic lights in which would allow traffic to flow this is my fourth diversion today it’s insane

    1. This is honestly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Not.everything is a conspiracy theory . I work for a local council on the roads and believe me they are not even competent to make a decision or be sophisticated enough to be part of a greater conspiracy like this . A lot of local councils received money in the last 6 months aimed at specifically targetting roads and improving them i.e pot holes, sinking etc. To believe this is some sort of agenda is pure dumb

    2. Imagine being angry at lads working on a road when you have no clue what works are going on . They could be waiting on materials or anything. Probably never done a graft in your life you mong

    3. Im mates woth a bunch of lads that work in puttung out the obstructions, they put them out and are then usually allowed to just leave.
I ALWAYS drive through these and 99/100 end up getting through

    4. I thought that it was commonly known that all these extra road works, since 2020, were a cover for the real purpose – installation of wiring and equipment for the introduction of the 5G era. The road works are either for tiny things, as above, or are ostensibly for things that any intelligent observer can see are not really necessary – improvement of pavements that don't need improvement, or landscaping roundabouts, or installing fancy plant containers, for instance.
Unlike its predecessors 5G happens to be a short-range technology that requires new underground infrastructure everywhere, and the problem for its pushers, those set to make vast profits from it, was that its dangers to the human body had already become known, and therefore to begin to do the work with honest public declaration would bring down enormous protests which would stop the project.
So for three years now half of the infrastructure has been slowly and more or less secretly been put into place, so that they will have the advantage of the 'fait accompli' when they switch it on. "What does the quality of human health and life matter if we can make a good profit?"
As an aside, all this diversion of road engineering resources of course is another reason [as well as restricted funding], for the unprecedented pothole problem.

    5. It's not the council or the traffic management company you need to talk to. In every area there is a governing body for every single job that gets carried out on the roads. The governing bodies are the ones who contract most of the jobs out to the council. The council do also have funding for emergency jobs and small jobs like masonry and small road repairs but it still has to go throuvh the governing body for that area. All road closures require a seven day notice to the public of that area unless its a emergency repair. The governing bodies will also regularly inspect the traffic management on there rounds to make sure that the site is correct and up to code.

    6. This is to get you used to 20 minute towns where everything you should need will be in that range. The claim will be to cut down carbon emissions blah blah blah so you can then be locked into them. Conditioning so you're accustomed to it when they roll out the idea they won't claim they've been brewing up for more control!! 2020 was just a trial

    7. What to do when had enough?
Revolution but not in a riot
Every one stay home for say two weeks don't buy anything at all have everything you need to do nothing for two weeks don't buy on line nothing
Then your see how quickly it changes
Just literally do nothing every one no work no fuel no food
      No buying anything
Starve them of our money two weeks your see …….

    8. A local government headed by people that have one goal, to get as many of their party into power as possible and keep it. A local administration, that is barely overseen and kept on task by aforesaid government, that has the goal of getting paid as much as possible, for as little work as they can, while accruing as much pension benefits as they can.

    9. It's because there's always new infrastructure being developed, presently the uk is still replacing copper with fibre in many areas and open reach hand the work out (for a price) to multiple large tier 3 contractors who then cascade the work down to smaller and smaller sub contractors, by the time it reaches the worst sub contractors they don't use NRSWA red book approved code of practice, they don't permit and they don't put traffic management in place. If they haven't notified the HSE with an F10 as they are requiemred to under CDM then the local council and Highways authorities will likely not know about the works being carried out and they can get away with anything. It's not a conspiracy it's openreach.

    10. Does anyone around here actually put any trust in you at all Geoff? It's pretty obvious many of the commenters are only here to make you look good and pretending to be genuine believers in all your CLAIMS.

    11. Here's the thing.. Everyone in this country moans that Council elections are pointless and no one need bother turning up to vote.. here's my proof that this attitude is utterly insane.

    12. The councils make massive money from it aswel,if the contractor leaves any barriers unsecure or leaves a traffic cone out of place they can be fined thousands, also they have a time limit and if it goes over that then the council can fine 10,s of thousands in some cases, look it up.

    13. Temporary traffic lights with awful timing are everywhere In Cardiff, you drive past and theres a tiny hole next to he pavement that does not warrant lane closure & temp lights, and they take forever to finish, but it slows down the traffic beautifully.

    14. Where I live there has been a small bridge out of use for over two years. They are continually banging on about pollution but to get to this other village puts an extra 15 minutes on the journey. Yes they may be penny pinching on keeping the roads up to scratch but they have plenty of money to throw at immigration !!! The councils, councillors, government and possibly all politicians should be ashamed of themselves.

    15. We live in the Andes.
If there's a landslide, or if the road gets washed away, they close it (because there's no road to drive on).
      Otherwise they keep them open.

    16. Had this today in Scotland. Road closed at Montrose en-route to Aberdeen so had to double back and go through B roads. Decided to come back through Brechin to avoid it and…another road closed forcing me though tight agricultural roads to get home and adding half an hour to my journey.

    17. You're right. They want to disrupt traffic, so you go travel with public transport, and when it takes long enough, you get rid of your car entirely.
I live in another European country, and they closed important roads for weeks, for no reason than rebuilding the road with new asphalt,
while the road was in perfect condition previously.
They take 6 weeks for doing that easily.

Tip: Look on Google maps to see where roads are closed.

    18. I’m in London – these motherfuckers close roads every other weekend. Sometimes 4-5 closures per journey. If they don’t close roads then there’s a gay and lesbian running marathon across the centre or when they have nothing to close they just shut down Blackwall for two days. You work the whole week, half of your salary goes to shit and when you want to fuck off somewhere during weekend you are stuck. It’s happened all over the place… other countries like Japan can fix things on the road in hours, in this country it’s months and months and months. Pathetic

    19. This needs to be addressed in parliament. Susan Hall talks about if she becomes London mayor she will scrap ULEZ but this the roadworks problem needs to be addressed as it’s become an utter menace and nobody seems to notice or they just seem to put up with it using the eternal British patience and stiff upper lip.
