arrest from the mountains for the peton of the Jed Italia but no rest from the rain I’m afraid it was a torrential start to Stage 18 on the way down to the Venetian plane but thumbs up and pink clad fans and one Rider in particular looking to enjoy themselves a two star stage mostly downhill passing through the pretty sights of valad but no popping of proo corks until arriving in Padova venue for the stage finish in its beautiful Central Square on paper a sprinter stage 178 km with only one short classified climb forar in pink and almost 8 minutes of a lead Milan with the Malia chiclamino already almost assured and the flag was waved with a start under those torrential conditions there had been a lot of wondering as to whether there were few enough sprinters to see an uncontrolled start but it was a heavily contested start despite big sprint teams being there there was plenty of ambition to get up the road not least for Eduardo affini he was a rider who was from very very close to the Finish he tried to get in the Breakaway but was not allowed to go by Leal trik four Riders did get away and they get a very good advantage of almost 2 minutes 20 seconds Miguel hon of EF education easy post who won the stage the day before mestri and Petro Bon were there as was feli the latter looking to extend his lead in the intergro competition first it was the intermediate Sprints competition lead extended there by the main man Petro Bon and for the Malia lamino no contest Milan making sure he had a bigger buffer leadle TR sudal quickstep and Tudor Pro cycling all contributed to control the Breakaway filipo feli doing just the business he needed to do in the inter jro competition and more chick flamino points went the way of Milan then an attack 60k to go and aely finally got away from the grasps and the clutches of the Badin he’d make it five at the front but could they hold off 30 seconds became 15 with just under 40ks to go but it wasn’t easy for them to be pulled back just outside 20 km to go 10 seconds and then with 10ks remaining finally it was all back together a nervous run in with pinch points and roundabouts teams moving up at just the right time and into the final 2 km it got even more chaotic a left turn with 900 M to go chuda pro cycling possession brilliantly with Alberto da the home rider for the grand finale then it was conon and turns looking around but they couldn’t see Milan he’d finally get his way through the traffic for the final few hundred meters he’d hit the front in the middle but on the left hand side team medle and the blue and white able to win for just the second time at this Jer medle Milan Groves anel kovski and Dai up there Delight though for sudal quickstep three stage wins for them at this jle and navigating the chaos well to win a Grand Tour stage in the third week for the first time in career was Tim medier first time he’s won two stages in a single Judo as well and he did it well it’s now Milan three M Le two Delight for the Belgian team and their former National Champion SE M Milan Groves Dai an yovi with gavidia Michels Yan balerini and M in the top [Music] 10 a second Sprint win for SAR Quick Step a third stage win Allied to that taken by alaf Milan briefly lost the wheel and that where the mistake was made for them but there’s no mistaking that difference and that lead in the overall standings Meer is up to third in the Maya chiclamino but Milan has it all one now as long as he stays on his bike you’d feel the same about today poacha in the general classification another day in the pink jersey 17 now Pacha leading by 742 with two mountain stages still to go Martinez second Thomas third and now we head to a big day potentially for the Breakaway into fi and heading up to sapara P you one of the most dramatic jro moments in the 1980s ventini roach ring any bells we’ll see what happens as the peltin go there and the break will believe they have a good chance on stage 19 [Music]

    1. Generally, I really love the Giro and much prefer it to the 'commercial circus' that is the Tour de France. It's a much 'purer' race and still targeted at the fans and tifosi. But this year, the Giro has been a massive disappointment.
It seems to have been all about sprinting. Far fewer mountain stages and battles between riders. [as exceptional as Pog undoubtedly is – he has had virtually no competition]. I really hope the race organisers rethink their strategy for the 2025 Giro.
