I went to Nottingham to look at some great cycling infrastructure and some Raleigh artwork,
good morning everyone welcome welcome to Nottingham railway station bit of a bit of a Tac Extravaganza on the drumpt arc have a look in a minute fantastic day it said it’s about 60° I gu just about right glorious sunshine you can see me in silhouette let’s just uh pull up here there we go the amazing brumpton Arc I’ve got my S bag with the Union Jack flat spare battery let’s uh get straight onto the onto the road probably me probably bumping up with somebody meeting up with somebody or bumping into people that we know along the way bit of a shadow on the ground this is Station Street this has had tremendous fantastic improvements over the last couple of years there a raway station through there Hopkins Hopkinson Antique Center maybe Cafe and bar ever you’re in Nottingham and you’ve got an hour to kill or you want an hour to keep warm worth a visit sounds like someone’s playing at home today don’t know who this is some of a latest infrastructure if you see I’m going the wrong way way I’m supposed to go on the road we’re not going to go on the road we have the obligatory pedestrians the obligatory pedestrians walking on the cycle track that’s quite normal if you can’t have a pedes on cycle track what can you have cheers mate thank [Music] you there’s a bit of cycle L there you see it’s all brand new so I’ve got to go over the road wow this is this last time we came to Nottingham this is all under construction I’m going to go straight over and turn right and go along to to the cattle market I think it’s London Road may be wrong we got a bleep in got our own little light here allegedly the sensors in the tarmac that dictate the bikers here so yeah super cool time back in Nottingham Sun’s very low in the sky time of year it’s um about 12:00 midday I think the train got to 11:50 and I’ve just left the station I think we’re going to head out we’re going to go down the cattle market catch up with Allen hopefully and then come back this way go on Super Highway probably go out to the Riverside sticking to Tac I’m on the uh all right guys who who the playing enjoy there’s the guys on the uh going to watch football get the beers so I catch it when we’re moving oh we’re moving now here we go I want to go over here though whoops sorry sorry mate I you had a mirror what’s that camera yeah you’re on video do you mind I see all the best mate take sorry I’m all over place what are you filming YouTube video yeah yeah okay nothing your Madness if you go on YouTube all right no problem I will do about see your yes you will cheers mate all the best see you guys [Applause] louder YouTube YouTube Nothing of your Madness see yourself on tell see you guys it you see vibrant City knocking him into the sun we go this way nearly fled with a guy on the uh on the bike nice guy though cool s nothing people cool chilled out you know it has its moments but uh that’s live I normally cycle up here I normally cycle down there on the canal but I don’t know what the access is like from here to the Cal Market we shall find out couple of the uh mam City bikes over there they good been on one one of those they’ve just lost the scooters I think the firms that runs the electric scooter has closed down but I believe a new firm is taking over the summer of 2024 which is now I guess right here we are to give it a shout out let me just stop here in this Gateway there’s a firm here called anchor supplies X arm I’m going to pop in there catching a bit guys it’s l so we we’ve made it down to the CLE Market it’s about knockoff time but bumped into Allen he’s ready he’s got he’s on the E bromton and one of the stars of the city bumps into it’s lgate Thompson from the Bendigo DC I’ve got my fancy trousers on and I’ve got my little snake we will be rocking and rolling at Nottingham light night night the council has gone bankrupt they got no money we’re still going to do it Saturday the 3rd of February we’ll be there on hawkley rocking and rolling with Alan number one fan their only fan bendy ODC we’re on the facebk will’ll be there Nottingham light night Saturday the 3rd of February and we’re also gigging in Sheffield on Friday the 2nd where about where we got I think we’re going to do the Division Street Division Street in Sheffield that would be the Phantom limbs so if you need some rock roll excitement Sheffield February Friday the 2nd that’s your world tour is it World Tour yeah Yorkshire tour and Nottingham Saturday the third get out Nottingham line enjoy some fun so sign off and see you next time a great that’s a great great shout out from the Nottingham sh or Nottingham City Music best venue best band watch him Johnny is also critical Massa gets around by a bike are survivors bangs out the tunes fantastic y you don’t have to be a buser you don’t have to be a buser get out on your push bike while you still can right the whole purpose of going to notum today is to ride this B cycle track I’ve got Alan here I think you’ve seen Allan around about in not him on the rton so the whole purpose was to come and ride this bit cuz this has been open since the last came fully open so I’m going to ride around here and and that will actually probably that will conclude the video at the end because this is what I’m come to look at it’s fantastic it’s great to bump it meet it with Alan fantastic to bump into John nothing in character so here we go been it’s not how long’s it been open this Alan sorry how long’s thisit been open um I think about 6 seven weeks maybe even longer I’m not quite sure it’s s been make for 2 years doesn’t it really it’s part of the uh broad Marsh reconfiguration and Demolition and everything else they’ve done on Broad Marsh which is actually half demolished we still have these little cyclist giveway things which is quite right to pedestrians nothing on the pavement to show Cycles past pedestrian which is unfortunate one of that Nottingham’s semi Art Deco style manufacturing plants can you remember what that was Alan no I can’t no I can’t things have changed so much then we get the modern we get the modern almost brutalist that’s not very old but looks about 90 years old it probably looks older than the factory child public house there or was cool to go into probably home home prob originally just the uh that’s a Mary’s Church up there that’s a Mary’s Church isn’t it yeah lace Market lace Market this is a tram line if you use a tram in Nottingham which swings through to to the college it’s lovely and quiet we’ve been up this bit you’ve been up there before with me under the the CH lines that’s a nice cool chill out Zone skateboarders this is what was the broad Marsh knocking it down has actually opened up views of the cities that PE views of the city that people haven’t seen for a long long time but it was a bit of a debacle when it came to building it because they built this bit and the people that own it operated it went bankrupt into or somebody of the people that were building it the broad Marsh yeah Intel in two or something like that they were building the they gone bankrupt what that’s meant is the city council has got it back bear in mind the city council are bankrupt and they’re under pressure to level it and make it into a public space because that’s what cities have become now cities have become public spaces for socializing they still got not still quite good for it shopping but essentially cities and towns around the world as we all know are just giant public spaces for socializing and what have you why do we have the red lights and the cars can keep going I don’t really know you’re going to watch these lights but we can’t we kind have a ride up and look at the library you know the new library that’s open yeah I’ll tell you here we go we get we’ll move through and I’ll just cracking P here was a shipston pub best beer you can buy apart from home Al Another cracking Pub so this is a convenient place to stop the video so thanks for coming along thanks for listening to Jo great guy go and watch his music see his Tunes put so much effort into Nottingham cycling music art great guy Alan’s here great guy yeah thank you he’s older than me just a bit just a bit catch you on the next one guys thank you you thought you got rid of me this is it Alan was telling me as We R riding along closing the video that started this this green space this is part of where the broad Marsh shopping center was here and here this is a new library which which way you get to the library Alan it’s here just Central Li you lead on and I’ll film and follow yeah we cuz he says look at this beautiful building look at that it’s going to get renovated here’s the Central Library you know what I said about Nottingham changing the whole scene of Nottingham’s change since they’re not this broad Marsh now look at that through there glimpses of Nottingham City absolutely fantastic right we’re going to pop in here and have a look and I’ll try if I can get in and take a photo of the bike statue I will do thank you guys I mean I mean made in Nottingham this for a push bike I’ll just swing you onto this can you read that wow so let’s get in depth we start with at the feet at the crank arms bits of repurposed frame repurposed frame still got some bottom bracket evidence here bottom bracket evidence here had to how time onto the wall he’s got sense I’m going up they all wheel rims oh wow look at the rims rock it on there look for the shoulder bone shoulder joint or Wing joint I guess what do you recking that is Alan looks familiar it’s very difficult to work out really what it is because it’s all part part of one is it it’s one part I I don’t think it’s part of the bike that I don’t think it is it’s two pieces actually I think cuz well it’s joined it’s a little more better isn’t it it’s something like that yeah but I think that’s a lawn mower bed it’s certainly into a rally part is it no Isn’t that cool oh really a love it yeah what’s your’s name Michelle rer it’s hidden out of the way as well so it’s not anywhere going to get because if you don’t know it’s there you don’t know it’s there do you right I got a still I put the on the uh on the Facebook page anyway we on the bromton I’m on the bromton arc I think i’ never you’ve seen that today Allan’s on his Brompton electric fantastic bits of Kit we’re down here by the canal what a fantastic day one of the old warehouses we’re down here where the uh gun gunpowder Warehouse was I shouldn’t tell you about that cuz that’s in videos do it own right on nothing my stre bring it back yet again

Plays the streets with his bands phantom limbs and bendigo Dc ….loved the cycle lane chanting….your friendliness is infectious andrew 😊 great video 👏👏👏
Interesting – on Bromptons, have you seen Steve Parry's T-line with hub gears and belt drive?
When I lived in Nottingham, Hopkinsons on Station Street was one of those places that sold all kinds of hardware items. From the smallest nuts, bolts and screws to all kinds of hardware required by engineering, construction, and home markets. If one or two screws or bolts was needed for a job you could buy it there.
It was one of those old fashioned places with a massive bank of drawers floor to ceiling across a whole wall and the shop assistants in those brown overall coats they used to wear back then.
I was also very surprised to see Anchor Military Surplus still trading. It must be 40 odd years since I was last in there! Wonder what sort of military surplus they get these days.
