[Music] special bikes 66 tooth chain Rings pink jerseys and a big time trial was all the talk on day seven of the J Italia starting in folino going through spello having a couple of intermediate time checks on the way and in the heart of Umbria finishing in peruja up a very nasty Hill this was 40 km of time traling with a real sting in the tail over 400 m to climb the longest time trial in the Jito Italia for 9 whole [Music] years and the early time was set by Dan Haller as normal at this time in a grand tour not everybody was going for it Haller certainly put in his best effort the first big attention was on the Italian Champion filipo Ghana the big pre-stage favorite would be off and looking for a seventh Jalia stage Victory down the years he’s a former War of the pink jersey a victor of five jeto time trials before today but he was given not a helping hand at all at the start a very unwise hand out a shake of the head but it didn’t phase him thankfully too much ganat quickly settled in Migel beel was given the all clear to go for it too he was vying for the final Danish Olympic play ghat was ahead at the intermediate checks but with the GC Riders still to come later on would that be enough the wind conditions were said to favor Ghana the final Hill naturally probably wouldn’t M had set a time of 5356 but he saw that beaten by B the D going 16 seconds quicker and briefly into the hot seat at this stage ghat was on the final climb 6 km all the way up to the center add he was coming in with the clock green and for a good while yet this would be a time that would take some beating the question is would it be beaten 5201 the main mark it looked almost Out Of Reach Magnus Sheffield was trying to beat his teammate he was 35 seconds down at the bottom Mar shakman despite being behind at the intermediates would look very good at the final finish line still not good enough to take the win a provisional second place at 47 seconds down he was beaten out of second place by Sheffield riding the longest time trial of his young career 32 seconds down on Ghana it was a patent developing inos grenadiers were dominating Gite Thomas was still to come tan ensman increasing the in Presence at the top they had a one two three by the time the top three were to [Applause] start so to Martinez Thomas and pogacha 46 seconds between pogacha and Thomas a further 1 second to the third spot on the podium occupied by the Colombian national champion bachar in pink and ready to go another change in the fashion show the shorts this time given the all clear by the UCI a week of silly wrangling away thankfully all cleared up Bacha was looking the pot not just in the fashion Stakes he was riding well Danny Martinez coming into the check 120 odd down garite Thomas almost a minute down but it was the difference between the GC Riders themselves that we were looking out for poach had 8 seconds quicker than Thomas looked as though he was going ahead but not by too [Applause] much Luke plat despite being in the Breakaway the day before rode really well and he was going to put pressure on those in the top 10 started the day in 15 he was on his way up into the top 10 and putting pressure on ER the Brooks in the white jersey Martinez to4 down at the bottom of the final climb but he was approaching his big terrain Thomas won 127 down where was Pacha that was the next question each of the big favorites going apart at 3 minute intervals and pogacha was starting the fly 47 seconds down it looked like Ghana had the stage wrapped up ER the Brooks finish at 238 from Ghana that meant he would lose the white jersey Martinez had made a lot up on the hill maybe some hope for both Thomas and pogacha 132 down on the final time at a top 10 G telling pogacha to slow down Thomas wasn’t speeding up though and his time meaning that he would go below Martinez on the podium and dropped to Third and Bacha was going super sonic he was making more time up climbing the climb quicker than anybody imagined and celebra waiting amazingly over the Finish Line Ghana looked like he had it one but no box office return for top Ghana this time it was pacher in pink and from him it was perfect putting a lot more time into his GC Rivals two minutes into Thomas and leading by a very healthy margin after seven days a second stage win of the jro Italia beating the homeboy gner by 17 seconds Sheffield was third with a very good result arensman and shakman in the top five Thomas’s 10th place at 2 minutes and a redesign of the GC but no change at the top T pachad continuing in the MAA Roa now a 2 minute 36 lead over Danny Martinez Thomas at 246 oconor up seven places to Fourth and Luke Platt riding very well into the white jersey next up a Mountain Stage there is no rest for anybody at the J Italia and Riders who lost time in the time trial if they can find the legs will be looking for the Breakaway certainly those further down and further off it’s up and down all day another big stage of the jle you can watch it on the home of cycling on Eurosport Discovery plus and if you’re in the US on max [Music] [Music]

    1. Thanks to one man we all have one thought after watching this of jjuicing and not that this is one of best ever in his prime.

    2. That's the bad side of cycling. A rider like Pogacar is simply winning because of a superior DNA.
The rider with the best preparation and race strategy/tactics should win, just like the tour last year when Pogacar raced like a hormone driven teenager, attacking at every stupid stage. No one wants to see stupid athletes.
I don't believe Vingegaard will be ready for the tour, but it would be great to see him at the vuelta fully recovered…

    3. Ha Ha, Thomas fell apart as I knew he would. Even when he trains an entire year for one single race, he's useless. I'm sure he'll wheel-suck behind better riders, as he always does, and get some sort of top 10 placing. I have zero respect for riders who only concentrate on one race. I didn't respect Armstrong for doing it and I don't respect this clown. Easily the dullest, least inspiring rider I've seen in 40 years of following the sport, and easily the least impressive Tour champion in decades. If you need to train for an entire year for one GT, you're not a real GT rider. The Tour win only proved that even a second-rate rider can win if he has a strong team, no other obligations, and little competition.
I was kind of hoping Ganna could hold on but I suppose nothing was going to stop Pogacar.

    4. I remember the last time there was a guy that dominated the sport almost at this level. He ended up losing his 7 TDF wins…

    5. Not to mention Ganna dropped off early yesterday with the sprinters to save energy for this stage meanwhile POG finished with the first group.

    6. He's on something. There's no way he beat Ganna by 17 seconds. Ganna is a monster! Pogacar is juicing and they haven't figured out his cocktail combination yet. Just like all the others.

    7. This might turn into another cole de la loze moment and we might see him blow up on yet another mountain stage. One issue and G/Martinez suddenly have a chance. Remember this is the same G that almost beat Primoz last year.
