Paris 2024 Olympic Stadiums | Paris’ $10 BILLION Olympic Games Makeover

In preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics, France has assembled 35 breathtaking venues across the country, including “The Eiffel Tower Stadium”, the “Stade de France” and “Marseille Marina”. 13 of these venues are located in central Paris, 12 are located across Ile de France and 10 are spread across France. In central Paris, the stadiums are mostly temporary structures that capitalize on the city’s iconic landmarks to provide an exceptional atmosphere for the Olympic and Paralympic games. In Ile de France, mostly already-existing structures, such as Château de Versailles and the Stade de France, are utilized for a wider variety of competitions. Lastly, across the country and in Tahiti, massive stadiums and coastal locations are used for football and Olympic marine competitions.

did you know that Paris is set to host the next summer 2024 Olympic Games with expectations of over 15 million visitors in Just 2 years this event has the potential to become the largest ever held in the country from beach volleyball at the foot of the Eiffel Tower to horseback riding in The Gardens of her sales Paris is gearing up to Showcase its cultural wealth to the entire world however with a lot of work still ahead many are wondering if everything will be ready in time join me Regis as we explore paris’s incredible Olympic preparations the challenges it faces and the impact this event will have the bid in 2017 Paris wanted to host the 2024 Olympics they were competing against Hamburg Budapest Rome and Los Angeles but Hamburg and Rome dropped out leaving only Paris and Los Angeles as choices they had to decide which city would host in 2024 and which in 2028 Paris wanted 2024 but Los Angeles was okay with waiting so they made a deal Los Angeles would host in 2028 and Paris in 2024 Paris hosted the Olympics in 1900 where women participated for the first time the second time was 100 years ago introducing the athletes Village which became a tradition now in 2024 they’re planning for some firsts they aim for equal gender representation in athletes to be carbon neutral and to include break dancing despite a budget of $9.5 billion they want it to be one of the cheapest Olympics of the century even though the budget is $2 billion over the initial estimate it’s still considered under control compared to previous Olympics for example the 2012 London Olympics had over 6,000 budget changes increasing the cost from $3 billion to $14 billion the current budget for Paris 2024 has only needed about 300 changes so far the venues one reason the budget for the Paris 2024 Olympics is stable is because of how they choose venues most of the sports will happen in existing Arenas or temporary ones set up in different places this helps avoid unnecessary construction and fits with their goal of being environmentally friendly in central Paris famous Arenas and iconic places will be used the park to princess stadium and the state rolling garos will host sports like football boxing and Tennis temporary Arenas will be set up in the city center including historical sites for example fencing in Taekwondo will be at the Grand p a historical site since 1900 archery and Athletics will happen at the invalides complex known for its military history and Napoleon’s tomb beach volleyball will be near the effel tower and The Gardens of the Trocadero will be the focus of the opening ceremony in other parts of Paris and nearby region there are impressive venues the state of France will host rugby and Athletics and the Palace of heres will use its famous gardens for equestrian and modern pentathlon Beyond Paris cities like leyon and Marcel with their big football stadiums will host football competitions sailing events will be at Mar sales Marina there’s also a unique venue on the island of Tahiti part of French Polynesia hosting surfing events due to its connection to French territory most venues are ready needing only small changes however for other aspects of the Olympics Paris is working on some large projects the new Olympic Village the new Olympic Village is the biggest one ever back in 1924 Paris started this tradition with temporary wooden Huts for athletes it was a practical way to house them and bring everyone together over the years other cities continued the idea but this time Paris is doing something different instead of making a temporary place just for the event they started a huge project to develop the area the new Village will be as big as 70 soccer fields mostly in St Dennis just north of central Paris it can house all 14,000 Olympic athletes keeping them just 30 minutes away from most event venues it will have everything they need picking St Dennis has another reason this part of the city had some problems with high crime rates and other issues the goal is to use the Olympics to make things better for the local people after the games the village will become homes for 6,000 people making the area better than before it was supposed to finish by late 2023 but there’s no update on its current status seeing River cleanup there’s a big project happening in the city involving the main river before we talk about that we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments however there’s a problem due to pollution swooning in the river has been banned since 1923 the main is untreated Wastewater with a massive amount dumped into the river every year the organizers have a plan to fix this they’re building a huge underground tank near the hour litz train station this tank will collect polluted rainwater from the streets and send it to a treatment plant Downstream when bacteria levels are safe they’ll be released into the river this way the tank will help the seus system work better preventing Wastewater from going into the river untreated but this project with a cost of of $1.5 billion might not work perfectly if there’s heavy rain during the Olympics it may not be enough in that case swiming competitions could be postponed for a few days because there’s no backup plan apart from River pollution Paris has two other major problems that could seriously disrupt the Olympics Security One crucial concern is security especially the risk of terrorism although the country has been Vigilant since the 2015 attacks this event is is different because of its huge size around 15.3 million visitors are expected with 600,000 attending just the opening ceremony to understand Paris has a total population of 2.2 million for security about 20,000 agents will be present every day and an extra 30,000 police officers and soldiers will be on duty on the first day traffic will be heavily restricted with some Metro stations closing for the entire event and airports shutting down on the opening ceremony day this brings us to the second major problem infrastructure there are worries about how the city will handle a lot of people especially since public transportation already struggles during busy times the authorities were counting on a big project called Paris Express to help with traffic but it won’t be finished on time only some new additions to an existing metr line will be done for the event so they’re expecting people to use other ways to get around like walking in cycling they’ve even put in new bicycles and cycling Lanes ahead of time to me it doesn’t sound like the best plan but we’ll have to see how it goes despite all these issues preparations have been smoother compared to other Olympics Harris is used to lots of tourists so the impact should mostly be positive the projects focus on the future and even though the Olympics are a one-time thing the effects will last financially it’s expected to bring in a lot of money with a budget of 99 .5 billion and an estimated revenue of $1.7 billion there’s also the cultural benefit of sharing paris’s culture with the world and bringing people together to watch the Olympics what do you think about paris’s approach let us know in the comments thanks for watching and we’ll see you in the next video
