no no well it’s a story as old as time Cruise ships leaving at a certain time and people being late but man the last time I was in KML just a couple days ago it was out of control I got a whole series of clips of peer Runners being scorned and humiliated by other Cruisers they’re just trying to get back on the ship but I I figured out who’s to blame you’re going to be surprised and I also saw a cruise director do something I’ve never seen before the scorn and ridicule of peer Runners on today’s [Music] episode heyy what’s up everybody Welcome to la loca I am your host Tony here with a special episode today a special episode all about peer running I’ve got a variety of clips and I I tell you what this has been the most scorning and jeering and humiliating I’ve ever seen and again like I said in the intro I saw the cruise director do something completely wild that I’ve never seen a cruise director do before and I got to give a quick shout out to my friend Brian Smokey traveler for providing all this excellent footage thank you Brian the setup is simple we’re going to do a few Clips I’m going to tell you why I think so many people were late on KML day and then I’m going to show you the clips that really kind of blew my mind so let’s just we’ll start out with something simple we’ve got people running the pier and people jering and scorning them and humiliating them here here’s the clip oh they’re [Applause] running you know pretty tame just some cheers and some booze and some random words and well it gets a little more interesting as it goes on here’s another clip of where the pitchforks are raised and the people are scorning those running the [Music] pier [Applause] [Applause] all right I’ve got two more tremendous clips for you but before I get there let me do a couple things first I’m going to tell you why I think everybody was late on cosm L day and something you need to look out for as a cruiser but I also like to take a second to invite you to subscribe if you like staying up to date with everything going on in King please consider subscribing with the notification Bell on that way you don’t miss out on any of these episodes will you want to know why people were late on KML day technology I’m pretty sure it’s technology what I’ve seen more and more over the last couple years is that the mobile phone companies the cellular companies have been really generous when it comes to international travel and in almost every cruise port that I’ve gotten off this year I’ve been able to turn on my cellular signal gotten data from my cell phone provider from T-Mobile 5 gig at a time well the challenge is when you go from airplane mode back to Cellular mode all the automatic stuff kicks in on your phone and I think what happened on KML day is a lot of folks they turn their phone on and the time on their phone changed the time changed on so many people out there having a good time in KML and the time shifted back 1 hour it was 1 hour earlier in KML than it was on ship and well you got to pay attention to ship time so imagine that you’re out there having your wonderful Beach day and your clock changes and you don’t know it and you look down and you’re like oh we got a couple hours to get back but then when you get to the pier well you didn’t have a couple hours to get back and now you are a peer Runner I think that’s what happened there were some people left behind I’ll tell you the guesstimate of how many people were left behind in just a second but first let me show you the let me show you the Cuda gr when it comes to these peer running Clips uh how about getting ridiculed by a 1980s hair band that’s right It’s the final countdown could you imagine running up the pier and hearing The Final Countdown and then you you’ve got you know pretty much standard to let you know that the ship is leaving hey goodbye let go that’s right the ship horn sounded you are late and of course you continue to get cheered and Jered and as I promised I saw the cruise director do something that I’ve never seen done before I heard all in all a rumor that about eight people didn’t even make it back to the ship but I’ve never seen this before this is from Cruise director Lee’s Facebook page a clip that was captured by coach [Applause] [Applause] Cruz baby that’s right Lee scurried down the pier he picked up a little girl and brought her on board uh I’ll leave you with this simple question do you think the peer Runners deserve what they get have you ever had your time change on your clock without you knowing it um yeah have you ever been left behind a pretty interesting day in KML hope you enjoyed this episode make sure you hit that like button on the way out this is Tony for L Lo and until the next time we’ll see you on the Leo bye

  1. I use a real watch that doesn't care about the "mothership" on the internet.. hahaha. I set it to ship time before I get off and then I have a definitive time keeping device.. hahaha.. ok… I am a paranoid person about being late.. but I do get a kick out of the runners… "Run Forrest Run.. " hahaha

  2. I never knew people heckled the pier runners. You never know what happened. Maybe someone shopped too long, maybe disaster struck. I think they should be cheered on to encourage them.

  3. This happened to us for the same reason local time was an hour behind. Never thought it would happen and so glad we made it but don’t laugh and think it won’t happen to you.

  4. Maybe I'm too positive (wow, I don't think I've ever been accused of that) but I would like to think that most people are like me and would just be giving the pier runners a "ribbing" (is that the best word). Like I don't think them being a little late is going to make us late to our next port of call.

  5. It would 100% the passenger's responsibility to be onboard minimum of 30 minutes before departure time. Any traveller with a modicum of intelligence would be wearing a watch set at ship's time. I guess if those pier runners had another brain cell, it would be lonely.

  6. It’s not just passengers who do this. I worked as a dancer/showgirl on some cruise ships. Some of the other performers and ship staff members would go into town when docked, and got left behind after missing our departure.

They had to pay out of pocket/purse to either be flown or taken by boat to our next destination. Some of them missed their shifts/performances and were docked their pay, or even threatened with termination.

  7. Time changes are best dealt with by wearing a watch, those old-fashioned devices people used to wear mostly on their wrists. Verify you are on ship time at least three times before getting off the ship. No electronics involved.

  8. The best thing about cruising holidays is jeering the pier runners. In the last 12 years, my wife and I have done 19 trips, ranging from 10 days to 2.5 months. We really look forward to the port departures as it provides so much free entertainment.

  9. I'm in the navy so I have no sympathy for those who are late, however we spent 3 days in Nassau last year next to the cruise ships and it was HILARIOUS watching these people run to their ships. The timing is the timing. If the ship runs on a different time, keep it on your phone (you can add different clocks on ANY phone), and show up on time. You dropped a couple grand for a cruise, act like it.

  10. I can understand the mistakes made, however responsible adults do everything they can to make sure that they know what’s going on. ESPECIALLY when you’re traveling in a foreign country. Getting left behind is no joke. I’m can’t imagine anything scarier.

  11. Being late back to the ship is more than just an inconvenience. The crew has to make up for the time spent waiting and burn more fuel to travel faster to make the next port on time.

  12. You know what's so crazy about all of this the people that are already on the ship making fun of the people that missed there ship are going to be the same ones one day who are going to miss theirs. The tables turn my friends. This is why you never make fun of those who miss their ship. It could be you next time. NEVER JUDGE.

  13. i almost became a pier runner once.the taxi driver took me to the wrong side of the harbour and i had to walk for 40 minutes with very little time left.very stressful.but thankfully i made it back just in time.

  14. I've seen a whole busload of Pier runners. When ship sponsored excursions run into problems this can happen. While passengers shamed them (us) it was a ship sponsored excursions. The ship guarantees it will not leave. Ships should announce this.

  15. Why not use a wristwatch to tell the time? When I go on vacation overseas, I leave my phone in the safe and use an inexpensive digital wristwatch to know the time. I don't want to lose or have my phone stolen when I'm overseas.

  16. I hope you realize that videos like this are the exact reason that people yell like that…..to hear themselves on YouTube…..or because you make a big deal of it.
