Discuss: do you think he’d have kept on talking on his call whilst driving forwards had I not been there?

    1. If this was a work call, the driver could have given the phone to his colleague to answer it or even if it was a personal call and he suspected it to be important or urgent.
His colleague may or could have requested to answer on his behalf for either scenario but the driver should not have answered it and did regardless.
No excuse for this behaviour, especially when you have a colleague present who can assist if necessary.

    2. Depending how highly he is regarded in the Company and how big and well know it is i would think he also lost his job, a stupid decision by him to answer it considering what he was at the wheel of, but then he knew it, right place right rime, Mikey, and that was some super rapid peddling you got there too, might have to try that chat up line, " Thats a pretty bright rear light " very complimentary, anyway a good catch and a good spot in the mirror.

    3. In charge of a huge ki11ing machine and still he shows no responsibility for his obligations to road safety. This should always be a court summons and more than 6 points due to the vehicle IMO

    4. And the way he swung into your lane afterwards like he didn’t care less if he hit you was also pretty shocking. Take care Mikey.

I had one where the HGV driver was steering with his left hand whilst scrolling with his right and pushing his thumb against the screen. I was walking at the time and caught it from a distance on my iPhone so it wasn’t 100% clear, even though I zoomed in on him and he can clearly be seen pushing his thumb against his phone, whilst driving a 10 tonne plus HGV.

My local police DET for Herts, Beds, and Cambs refused to take action though even after an appeal because I thought it was in the public interest to review it again. Sadly I lost the appeal as well and this driver got away with it. But I think drivers like this think they can get away with it because they higher up in their cab and away from cyclists with their cameras and other prying eyes/cameras. So a good catch Mikey even though it was very risky as shown by what that driver did afterwards.

    5. Send the information to the Area Traffic Office or Transport for London for the attention of the Traffic Commissioner.
He / She they will quite often take the HGV / PSV drivers vocational driving licence away for a couple of weeks
      Keep up the good word

    6. Yeah, that particularly BAD . . . . . If it was important the 'bored' guy next to him could have taken it
Throw the book at him – that could have some pedestrian, or cyclist under the wheels, so easily!

    7. Is it true to say that if a professional driver, as in an HGV driver is caught on the phone the fine and points increase ? I'm not too sure can anyone advise as I believe the courts / police frown on this as they look at what could have happened!

    8. mike stop being a nob and get a life, i will pay for any rehab sessions if u need it, im more than willing to help, please get in contact if you are suffering from any past traumas

    9. Ahhh, Mikey. Love yer to bitz and support everything you do but, really – “That’s a very bright rear light”.
Come on mate, you have to improve your chat up lines.
All the best mate and you take care.

    10. He's 100% lost his job as tuffnells went under. Surprised they managed to track the driver tho cos who would have the police contacted in order to trace the driver back to the vehicle 🤔

    11. Looking forward to see the court case update on this one, bloody check of the guy, had a passenger that could of taken it too.

    12. Well done great job.expose all these idiots who thinks are beyond the law..especially lgv hgv drivers but also same to car or motorcycles or cyclists,im a hgv driver myself, people not aware of the danger the use of mobile phone inntraffic could cause.thank you for doing this great work for the community and please leep doing it..

    13. 0:53 – I absolutely cannot stand it when I'm cycling behind or towards other cyclists with overly bright lights. It's dangerous and impairs the vision of other road uses. I presume you meant it in that context, yet she seemed to think it was a compliment. It's as annoying as when people drive with high-beams or rear fog lights on.

    14. I never understadn why, when the police have such good video, they ask the registered keeper who was driving at the time. they should be asking the name of the person in the video so the registered keeper cannot say they dont know. They must know for the vehcile to be insured. If they say they dont know then the registered keper should be charged for allowing the vehicle to be driven by an uninsured person.
