Does Leeds need more cycle lanes? 🚴
There are a few days left to comment on Leeds City Council plans to create more cycle lanes and improve pedestrian access in Leeds city centre 🚸
It wants to create wider pavements, more linked-up cycle lanes and safer crossings on Merrion Street, The Calls, Kirkgate and Great George Street – including by reducing road space available to cars and other motor vehicles 🚙🚘
It all follows the closure of City Square to most vehicles, and the council says the new proposals will also allow for more green space and outdoor dining areas for local businesses in Leeds, especially those on Great George Street.
🗣️ Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin said: “A reliable and inclusive transport network, which prioritises walking, cycling and public transport, is key to our plans for a stronger and better-connected region”.
You can have your say on the improvements until Sunday 19th November on the Leeds City Links website (leedscitylinks.commonplace.is).
