To celebrate the re-opening of our wonderful Camellia House in March 2024, we’re re-releasing some of our back catalogue of videos that help to give context to this amazing place.

In this video, filmed in February 2022, Dorian Proudfoot from conservation architects Donald Insall Associates, delivers an in-depth lecture on the many challenges encountered when reimaging the Camellia House for a 21st Century future.

The video contains reference to Ralph Tunnicliffe as the designer of the original Camellia House tea room. To date, Wentworth Woodhouse’s research team has not found evidence to corroborate this in the archival record. If you have any historical information that could support the team’s investigative work, please contact collections@wentworthwoodhouse.org.uk

This lecture is one of a three-part series which you can find on this channel. Part 1 looks at the roof of the main mansion at Wentworth Woodhouse https://youtu.be/ntuejClL0k0 and Part 3 looks at the Stables and Riding School https://youtu.be/-8x1KHPNeXg
